Resident Evil 2/3: Remake - HDR Optimized Settings
🕑 Added 2022-03-16 10:32:00 +0000 UTC
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.
The games have a good HDR implementation, providing an accurate HDR Brightness slider and Midpoint slider in nits.
Measured Peak HDR Brightness can go up to 8.000 nits.

If you have an LG OLED and:
> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast:
- Set HDR Brightness slider to: +8 clicks (starting from 0/Mid; which is around 4.000 nits);
> you're using HGIG:
- Set HDR Brightness slider to: -7 clicks (starting from 0/Mid; which is around 800 nits) or -4 clicks (for G2) or +1 click (for G3).
If you don't have an LG OLED and:
> you don't have an HGIG option:
- Set HDR Brightness slider to: -5 clicks (starting from 0/Mid; which is around 1.000 nits);
> you're using HGIG:
- Set HDR Brightness slider to the corresponding real Peak HDR Luminance of your TV in "nits" by following these references:

For RE2:R Only: set the second "Brightness (HDR)"/Midpoint slider to -7 Clicks from Middle/Default in order to fix a black level raise issue in HDR with this game.
For RE3:R Only: leave the second "Brightness (HDR)"/Midpoint slider to Middle/Default as it already corresponds to a balanced/correct exposure and gamma.

No, you should have it fading into the white background
Peace
If all the TV settings are correct, should I be seeing a visible gray box for HDR brightness?
P40L0
Yes

Ought the red-blue slider be kept at -7 whether you have DTM on or set to HGiG?
P40L0
Personally I always prefer to disable it.

Should Film Noise be left on the default On?
P40L0
Yes on both

Does the same rule of "if using DTM, apply TV Brightness setting of 49 instead of 50" on an uncalibrated 65" G1 apply here? And Ray Tracing kept to default ON?
P40L0
Nope. All is the same

Hey is the black level issue in re2 fixed by any chance?

Also FidelityFX CAS + Upscaling on or off?
P40L0
Yes, it's all the same

Hey this might be a long time since you visited this game but are the re3:r only settings still apply and same with max brightness?
Michael
Hanno sistemato l'HDR di re2 remake perché con tutte e due a -7 è molto buio in generale

Nope, those are just applicable to RE2:R and RE3:R

Are those settings applicable to all of the RE Engine (RE 7, DMC 5/SE, RE VII) or does HDR have different quirks in those games, when it comes to getting the right settings?
