Halo Infinite - HDR Optimized Settings

The game is NOT using/applying Xbox HDR Calibration app settings.
Halo Infinite HDR implementation is a bit mixed.
The title was marketed as the very first "native" Dolby Vision title months before release (and it actually is when used on an Xbox Series X|S and coupled with a DV capable TV) but real-world PQ results in Dolby Vision mode are somewhat disappointing. Even if its DV implementation was partially improved after February 2022 Patch v1.1.1, the actual measured peak luminance was around 1.000 nits and only in rare spots. Most of the time the game has an "SDR-like" look and also suffer of posterization artifacts when used in DV, therefore it is recommended to disable "Dolby Vision for Games" option from Xbox Video settings (while also making sure to have YCC 4:2:2 option disabled). You can leave "Dolby Vision for Movies" option On.
With DV disabled, Halo Infinite will launch in HDR and the HDR implementation is really good.
Going to Settings -> Video and pressing Y you will access the "Screen Calibration" section and the "HDR" slider will appear.
The "HDR" slider will let you pick a value from 0 to 100 with a default 50 (which actually translates in a real range from min 300 to max 10.000 nits Peak HDR Luminance)
If you have an LG OLED and:
> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast:
- Set HDR slider to: 67 (which is around 4.000 nits);
> you're using HGIG:
- Set HDR slider to: 34 (which is around 800 nits) or 50 (for G2) or 53 (for G3).
If you don't have an LG OLED and:
> you don't have an HGIG option:
- Leave HDR slider to: 50 (Default; which is around 1.000 nits);
> you're using HGIG:
- Set HDR slider to one of those values and the corresponding real Peak HDR Luminance of your TV in "nits":
In all cases leave the regular "Brightness" slider to: 0 (Default) as it already corresponds to a balanced/correct exposure and gamma.
BONUS:
- UPDATE: After Season 5, using 120hz + VRR + the game set to 60fps on Xbox Series X was fixed and the game is now smooth with no stuttering again
- Enable Ray Traced Shadow: on Xbox Series X and PC to improve the entire shadow rendering without a noticeable performance or picture quality loss
- Use Field Of View (FOV) 95: for improved visual awareness without introducing the "fish eye effect" or degrading performance;
- Use the following Optimized Controller Settings: for much improving movement and aim smoothness and accuracy;
- Use "Local" Network Search: to limit matches' search in your Region only, much improving latency in Multiplayer.

I use them as a baseline for mine for years and work the same on XSX and PC (the Xbox controller will work the same when connected between the two)

I'd completely ignore the "Optimized Controller Settings" because the guy in that video uses PC not Xbox. He even uses different settings than you recommend.

Like you can see from the post itself, no, it doesn't support it. Also in the post you can see what in-game values translate in nits and set it as suggested for your display.

Do you know if this game follows the Windows HDR Calibration app? Trying to figure out if I should be setting it to around 20-25 for the 600 something nits of my 27 inch LG OLED monitor, or just leaving it at default.

I would leave it at default. Decreasing it will blur too much the image while increasing it will create oversharpening artefacts.

Yeah, you can try that as usually that was the workaround to fix it in the past on XSX as well

The latest patch is installed, I'm wondering if the Series S and Halo Infinite set to 60hz with VRR will fix it

It's definitely fixed on XSX, maybe not yet on XSS. Did you try after latest patch (which seems improving performance on both consoles in the changelog)?

I recently started playing this on a Series S and I have it set to 120hz with VRR and Halo Infinite set to 60hz and it's very choppy, I guess it's still not fixed
