Rise of the Tomb Raider - HDR Optimized Settings
🕑 Added 2022-03-14 11:42:46 +0000 UTC
The game is NOT using/applying Xbox/Playstation HDR Calibration app settings.
The game is a decent HDR title that will max out at 1.000 nits Peak HDR Brightness through an HDR Slider (with no numerical values).
If you have an LG OLED and:
> you're using Dynamic Tone Mapping or Dynamic Contrast:
- Set HDR Brightness slider to: Max (which is around 1.000 nits);
> you're using HGIG:
- Set HDR Brightness to: -2 clicks from Max (which is around 800 nits) or Max (for G2 and G3)
If you don't have an LG OLED and:
> you don't have an HGIG option:
- Set HDR Brightness slider to: Max (which is around 1.000 nits);
> you're using HGIG:
- Set HDR Brightness slider to: Max (which is around 1.000 nits).
In all cases leave the regular "Brightness" slider to: Middle (Default) as it already corresponds to a balanced/correct exposure and gamma.

Strange, even though environment looks perceivably slightly more detailed w/ the default Enhanced Visuals setting text is much easier to read with Native 4K. I guess i'm robbing Peter to pay Paul. XD lol.

I've been using HGiG surprising without need to use HDR Tone Mapping, even during daylight in bright room. I sent you high quality screenshots via DM in AVS Forums. Let me know if you got it.

Enhanced Fidelity you have to choose if you want 30fps at Native 4K (Resolution), 60fps at 1080p (Performance) or improved graphics at Dynamic 4K (mostly 1440p) at 60fps but with more unstable framerate (Enriched Visuals). Choose Enriched Visuals as VRR will compensate the more unstable framerate. Again: there's no mention of red/blue thing. Re-read the article to set thr HDR Luminance slider to match your TV and what mode you're using for it (HGIG or DTM)

Enhanced Fidelity isn't an On/Off toggle but rather a selection of three different choices. The HDR Luminance setting is diff from the initial red-blue HDR gauge. In fact, idk which one's which.

Read this article? For broadcast frame leave default while enable Enhanced Fidelity

Okay i'm on Rise of the Tomb Raider now. What should: HDR Luminance, Brightness, Broadcast Frame, and Enhanced Fidelity settings be under Options? (This game supports native HDR10)
P40L0
Yeah but that is SDR only so default in-game settings should be good if you applied all my suggested settings for both the console/PC and the TV
LeonSKennedy
You have that one? I'm trying to see that one.

Definitive Edition is indeed a different game
LeonSKennedy
For Definitive Edition it's different (i think it's a different game entirely.
P40L0
Yes, you have to adjust HDR Brightness slider not regular brightness
LeonSKennedy
With HGiG when i apply that setting, it says it's Too Bright, are you sure?
P40L0
I told you above?

Yeah I have my Xbox hdr calibration settings to “peak hdr luminance 800 nits” but in the game itself when I press start and go to Options, what should that HDR Luminance setting be at?
P40L0
HDR Luminance: it's the same. Read the HGIG part for LG OLEDs: -2 clicks left from max (rightmost)

I just bought this for Xbox series x and in the game options there is just a “brightness” setting and “hdr luminance” not “hdr brightness “ like you have listed. What should those be set to for my lg c2 using hgig?
