I did a rewatch tonight and I’ll reiterate; this movie is amazing, it has emotionally destroyed me twice now and I find that incredible

Hi Joel, I just watched this film with my partner tonight. We both agreed after that "It Just Takes Time" is the best movie I've watched in a long time. It feels the same as after you finish watching "Good Will Hunting" for the first time and although that's a lot more dramatic - it has that kind of energy. That this is just about life in a way that a lot of movies are too afraid to even look at. It's usually too vulnerable or uncomfortable. We struggle with different kinds of loss. My first wife passed away very young, at only 28. Which is really hard to explain to people or have them understand, or even know what to say. To make a whole movie around people trying desperately to find the right thing to say to each other and always coming up short was such a powerful and unfortunately relatable experience. I don't know if you will ever read this, but I just wanted you to know that this bit of art unlocked something in my heart, and did it in a way that was really compelling. A lot of people will struggle their whole life to make something that is even half this good. Thank you and all the amazing talented people for this. It was so important to me. You can never know how important, but I also love that complete strangers living completely different lives will on occasion, eclipse each other like ships passing in the night and be living in the same storm under the same moon for just a second. I would love to donate to a higher tier at some stage when we are more financially stable. Bless you, and thankyou.

It's hard to be tender. Even harder to be available, man to man. Thanks for making it beautiful. You made it easier, for all of us. Ooof.

Scottie McPherson

This was my favorite of your movies so far. I will definitely return to it in the future.

Nice

I sympathized with all the characters, but I've felt like Chuck. The sweet memories of the past, the kinship you try to rekindle when it seems needed, and the weight of when the world happens. I've been there in making some kind of peace with those estranged. And, I know how it feels when you have to come up with something to say when someone is gone. Had to do it a few months ago. Nothing bombastic. Throughout... You kind of just exist, and those feelings are just something that's there with you. Thank you for making this.

Hahaha, love that! So happy you share my stuff with your mom!

Finally got the chance to watch it. Your journey as a filmmaker continues to inspire me. I think this might be the best movie you’ve made yet. The vulnerability and earnestness you’ve displayed with this film has inspired me more than you could know. Thank you.

Nathan Lalli

Thank you Joel, Mike and I shared this. Thank you.

Finally got to sit down and watch this with my mom. This is her new favorite film of yours, and we really like how you portray young men dealing with tough shit. "The little bitch made me cry again," she said. You and your crew made a realistic and raw film, wonderful job as always

This latest movie was one of my favorites. I'm excited to see the full line up. When all 12 movies are out, I don't think I'll be able to pick just one favorite. That would be like comparing apples to oranges. All the movies are good but some are great in different ways.

McMenamins and Umpqua bank in the background in a scene? Did you film in Oregon? And you didn't come visit me? I mean...you don't know me or where I live, but still... also, not as bad as the time Trent filmed at the McDonald's down the street from me and didn't say hi.... but, very good on the building up of feelings in this film.

Thanks for making a sort of non-dramatic movie about grief. I think I sort of needed that, in a way. I needed something that's sort of about just sitting with it, where there aren't big, dramatic moments that make you okay with losing someone. When people break a bone, we don't usually expect people to get better all at once, we just add in some external support to keep it in the right shape and let time take its course. Sorry for rambling. It's just been a rough couple of months/years and this one hit different.

L'il Louis

Ok I finished the movie. And I gotta admit that this one hit me hard, having lost my mom in June of this year.... it's a beautiful film. Thanks Joel.

Joel Haver

Thanks Louis!! The fog was 100% real, we just lucked out with a foggy day! Hope you enjoy the rest of the movie!

L'il Louis

I'm still watching this movie, not done yet. But the opening shots are beautiful, the scenery. And that shot w/ the bridge in the distance fading into the fog was crazy cool, I almost wonder if u added in the fog post process (did you? lol) it looked just too cool. You definitely have a great eye Joel! Movie is really good so far!

Vague attempt to sound smart and unique in a single line username

This was wonderful. Such a tender film, with some very real moments. The cinamatography was wonderfuly and the sound track really wonderfully enhanced the mood. I enjoyed the way you showed each character with things as simple as framing, their preseance (or lack of) or just the way they held themselves. I absolutely bawled my eyes out at some points, laughed at others. Thank you for everyones effort <3

Might be your best feature yet

Nathan Lalli

Your stamina and ability to produce is astounding. Congratulations, But, no rest for you yet! Much love brother.

The next movie is How to Get a Million Subscribers, isn't it?

Trenton Eames

Fantastic. Thank you for addressing grief in this way. A cathartic and powerful watch. Also just absolutely gorgeous shots and music, and the way both worked with the quietness of this film.

Elvis Wong

Absolutely loved it.

Watching this movie, instilled a very intense feeling of nostalgia and familiarity. Honestly to the point where it felt like I'd watched it before? Or maybe I've just been in this friend group, in this situation, that made it feel so real. I cried multiple times during, I'm crying right now. The pure emotion you evoke with barely the littlest inference of plot... It's amazing.

Darren DM

Watched it as soon as I got the notification. Our family and friends are grieving a loss and your movie is just so real and touching: That mixture of deep sadness which punctuates the quotidian.

L L Smith

Another exciting release! It'll gimmie something to watch over the long weekend.
