Zelda Vs. Silent Hill - Vote For The Deepest Dive
🕑 Added 2024-09-19 14:37:31 +0000 UTCAt MinnMax we like to create the best, most thorough discussions about games in a multi-part game club discussion called The Deepest Dive.
We just wrapped up The Deepest Dive on Mirror's Edge, thanks to everybody who voted for the game in the last poll and played along with us. Now let's look to the future! We need you all to choose what we tackle next: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom or the Silent Hill 2 remake?
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom - Nintendo's fresh take on Zelda is launching on September 26 and we can unpack everything new together. We don't yet know how open the game is and we don't want to guide your fun, so this might be a situation like Shadow of the Erdtree's Deepest Dive where we have one episode covering our first weekend with the game and then another when we can cover everything else in the game. If it's a set order to the areas/dungeons, we can guide things a bit more with our conversations.
Silent Hill 2 - Konami hired Bloober Team to remake one of the most beloved horror games of all time we can talk all about it together. Silent Hill 2 will be scary. We should note that Jacob Geller won't be on The Deepest Dive for the game, he just covered the original on his Something Rotten podcast. Silent Hill 2 is launching on PS5 and Steam on October 7th.
The poll ends on Monday, so choose wisely. You're welcome to make your case for either game in the comments below or in the Discord. Thanks for supporting MinnMax on Patreon and making this content possible!

I don't do Nintendo consoles never been interested but I'll watch a walkthrough so I can have an in depth understanding for the deepest dive or as much of an understanding by watching a video as you're missing a key appointment which is the gameplay would of loved doing silent hill 2 unfortunately I'm in the minority for that vote

Runner up show!! Bonus content! The community demands it! (As politely as possible) @redmption
HelloAndre!
Im definitely looking forward to hear peoples opinions on the remake. I love the original and it looks like this remake will have people talking. Hopefully in a positive way.
Tom Brien
I'm listening to an old Deepest Dive today and it's a pretty good way to re-play a game without buying it and playing it again. Do people wanna see what happens in the new Zelda without having to... play it? btw if you are Hanson and you're reading this: whoever wins we win, it's a fun show either way and this is a fun poll to watch!
Hayden Berthelot
I was just watching the podcast, and opened this poll, voted, and as the the results loaded, Huber said "58% zelda" as a guess, and the votes were 580 to 515 zelda. Which isn't exactly 58%, but still pretty wild.
The Spine
Look forward to exploring the rich story and lore of…. Zelda. SH2 or bust!
Michael Lane
Really hope Silent Hill 2 pulls through here. Despite there being a lot of discussion about the original, I think it'll be really interesting to revisit that game with this new lens, especially given how much vitriol there is from SH fans towards the game pre-release.

Im so bummed zelda is winning. I just think the conversation around silent Hill would be way more interesting rather than Zelda has a sword now.
Bon Jon Bovi
Throwing my hat in for Zelda. Silent Hill 2 is one of the most discussed games of all time, and has had decades of writing done about it. I understand that this is for the remake, but realistically all that's going to change is adding a lot of "well, this was handled a lot better in the original" to the discussion
Tom Brien
Wow its so close. I don't play horror games, but I voted for Silent Hill 2. I just think I'll enjoy the resulting podcast more!
Lanthian
I did vote...but I really don't care which one wins, both of these would be great!
RedMption
Interesting seeing the difference in comments to votes. Only a 7% difference (at time of comment), but the majority of comments seem to be wanting SH2:remake. I'd love to maybe see a Max Spoilers for whatever doesn't win.
Joel Peterson
I’m so bummed Zelda is winning in this. Silent Hill 2 is MADE for this format. Please consider doing it anyway
Duderado
As someone who won't play Silent Hill 2 I'd like to hear about it since we'll hear plenty of thoughts on Zelda which will probably be gameplay focused anyway. I think it'll lead towards a more interesting discussion.
Duncan
Thanks for rec, but this is specifically for the SH2 remake not the original. I'll prob end up checking it out because I don't think SH will win this one.
HelloAndre!
If ya wanna listen to a silent hill deepest dive, check out the something rotten podcast.
Jordan Brown
Damn, bummed that Zelda is winning this one. Silent Hill seems like it would have the better discussion.
Chris Marsh
There is such a strong Zelda fan base that there is no way it Dosent win, which, if it does, is terribly disappointing. Silent hill should win because everyone will give Zelda its flowers, mainly because it always happens lol. Give something else a chance.
AnActualSadTaco
I'm sure Zelda will be a joy to play, but I cannot imagine it will lend itself to give anywhere near the same level of engaging discussion as Silent Hill 2 would
DarkFishDays
Could we at least get a spoilercast for whichever one doesn’t win (which, let’s face it, is going to be Silent Hill 2)?
Matty Gaffney
Hrmmm I'm not personally interested in Silent Hill but I'm wondering if the convo might be more unique/varied than the Zelda convo 🤔
mantaguy
I was hoping that you'd do a deepest dive on Epic Mickey, like Hanson wanted to do when it got announced earlier this year. Oh well...
Jacob de Mailly
Is it not possible to do both?
Deirdre Bouquet
Go off. I feel like us silent hill fans are ….uh desperate enough to maybe get a little silent hill as a treat even if it loses the vote?
Deirdre Bouquet
I mean i agree and am skeptical but I think that makes for interesting discussion and I highly doubt they’ll change anything that dramatically in terms of plot.
Deirdre Bouquet
I mean I’m so profoundly biased but like ….i feel like there’s a lot more meat on silent hill for discussion. Also I’ve heard you guys talk about Zelda a lot and you know the silent hill girlies need some love.
Nick from Atlanta
I would vote for Silent Hill if it weren't Bloober. But I can see it being more *interesting*, in this case I don't see that meaning better. I don't want a Deepest Dive where it's a lot of negative reflection on the game, and that's what I see happening with SH2R
Lamb Dance
Zelda is what I want to play more, but I think Silent Hill will be the more interesting / fun talk.
Duncan
I wish I could get both, Silent Hill was made for diving deep.
Ramon Gutierrez
I'm a little baby so Silent Hill is too spooky for me
Rory Cunningham
Silent Hill 2 is the kind of game that Deepest Dives exist for
Outlandish Beats
See I think that would make the DD more interesting!
The Canipa Effect
I can't think of anything better than a Zelda deepest dive where everyone explores their puzzle solutions
Nick from Atlanta
I do not want to do a Deepest Dive on anything that Bloober Team touches. Their approach to mental health is terrible.
Ben Shively
I’ve never wanted a deepest dive as much as I want the Silent Hill 2 Deepest Dive
Daniel Conrad
There’s just so much more to sink your teeth into when it comes to Silent Hill 2. Hope the remake wins!
Adam D
Much closer than I expected

THE ZELDA COMEBACK IS UPON US
Ryan Thomas Reynolds
I know Zelda will win but I'm voting for Silent Hill. Everyone talks about Zelda and I just think a discussion about SH just sounds more interesting.
Stef P.
Voting for silent hill for the chance you’ll play some good tunes
Brendan
I'm admittedly not a horror fan, but a new Zelda game with Zelda as the protagonist feels pretty momentus and worthy of a deep dive! The last small-scale masterpiece the Zelda team made (Link Between Worlds) is tragically overlooked.
Boondock-Bandit
Yet again a scary game (absolutely not my gaming preference) convinces me to do another deep dive. Can’t wait to play Zelda!
Andrew B
Either it’s worth talking about how silent hill 2 remake lives up to (or surpasses) the original, or the ways it completely ends up missing the point and flops. Talking Zelda is always fun but the imagery and surreal nature of Silent Hill 2 to me anyway will spark more varied conversation points than “isn’t it cool how fun zelda is” for many hours 😂
Andrew Harwood
I think that Zelda will have some great new mechanics to talk about, but Silent Hill will have many more thoughtful topics to discuss beyond gameplay.
STAMPEDE
Tough choice. I think I’m more excited for Zelda coverage but Silent Hill 2 feels like the more interesting spoiler filled discussion/deepest dive format
Jonathan Anderson
Well, I saw the choices and immediately thought "Oh, Silent Hill, Jacob could lead that in his sleep". With him out it's a tighter race personally, but I'm still going Silent.
