Video game Accessories! They come in so many categories from kinds of controllers or inputs to the twisty light on our gameboy. Throughout the years what was one that you really wanted and got and was it a positive feeling or disappointment? Or favorite accessory you got throughout your gaming history? I dreamed of getting a Xbox steering wheel for Forza Motorsport 4 and it basically was the gate way to the entire hobby of simracing, my career in automotive engineering and my interest in Motorsport.
Alex McMillan
Hello Cohorts! What was the last time you played something and thought to yourself the exact phrase "Now THIS is gamin'"? All the best, Alex McMillan

Question for the group: Ever hear of a bean and cheese TACO?
Victor Jesus Moreno
Hello friends. What's your physical media most prized possession? A physical copy of the original Ico? A Resident Evil 5 steel book? Whats on a shelf that makes you smile when you see it.
Felix davin
Playing video games hurt me hips, all that sitting in a plushy sofa. Ouch ! Do you experience the ouchiness too, and how do you remedy it ? Bises.
CptCobblePot
Greetings Minnmaxers, I’m late to the game(s) but I recently started binging AGDQ videos. As a PS2 fan the Sly Cooper and Jak and Daxter runs are really interesting. In connection to Leo and Haley’s discussion on bonus pod (productivity) what one task would you speed run in your life? I’m thinking a one off like taxes could be helpful, but if it was laundry I could shave off more time overall.
Devin Brooks
What's a tool or device you learned about later in life and absolutely cannot live without now? Mine has to be an electric kettle, the water boiling efficiency is unparalleled!
Vincent K.
Hey Gang! Here's a fun question: When you picture the Apogee logo and music in your mind, what game comes to mind? For me it's always Duke Nukem 2 or Raptor: Call of the Shadows.
Sheena Woodfield
Why do comedy games only exist in the indie space? I’ve laughed out loud playing plenty of smaller games like Jazzpunk and Untitled Goose Game, but AAA studios don't seem interested in exploring the comedic potential of the medium outside of some quippy voice acting, which feels like a missed opportunity. Also, what’s the hardest you’ve ever laughed at a video game?
AnAttackCorgi
Heyo Cohorts! Long time no…question? With Echos of Wisdom coming out, what other game series swapped a male for a female lead character successfully, or should do so? Gears 5 comes to mind, where the player swapped playing as JD in the prequel game for galavanting through Sera as Kate.
McGreevy
Would you rather never play any new game that is made starting now, or never play a game that already exists today?
Gooseberry
What is your favorite piece of clothing you own right now?
Kevin Kuper
Hello all! Sony recently released a new welcome tile for when you boot up and for me it's really satisfying you get a bunch of useful information at once. What is the crews favorite console U.I. and is there a clear number one? Thank you for the consistent compelling content.
HelloAndre!
Button mash (the place where y’all had your LA meet up,) recently closed down. Heartbreaking stuff. Did you all grow up with an arcade style place in your life? Is it still around? What was it like?

Would you take FIVE 10/10 4K remakes with improvements and added content from Nintendo, games like ocarina of time, super metroid, mario 64 etc or ONE 10/10 brand new IP?

How easily do you get goosebumps from powerful moments in media? Any memorable examples of something that hit you really hard?
Tokyo Game Life
If your home was a Zelda dungeon, what big item would you find and what would be the boss?
Travis in Fargo
For me, it’s maybe NES as well. Or Pac-man.
Dusty Beaman
I know he's canceled but......my parents had recorded, on VHS, a stand up skit of Bill Cosby that is absolutely hilarious. My parents, who were fairly strict in terms of sexual content and language, let us watch it as kids. I'd probably let me 9yo watch it. Here it is if you're interested: https://youtu.be/ymUYO4T_ZjQ?si=wsWR7WMqSQDeReFq
Sincerly, Eric
During these stressful times. Do you all have a current favorite Stand Up Comedian or a Comedy Special you'd recommend?
Dusty Beaman
Forspoken. I love that combat in it and I love the controls on switching between magic styles. Immortals of Aveum was kinda similar to this as well
Brian W
What’s your favorite iteration of Zelda as a character? She’s had tons of looks and personalities through the games compared to link. Does any one or moment stand out for anybody?
Quillgrim
My followup to you, Bob. How often are you taking your socks off??? I'm a socks-on-all-day person. So I just step out to do an errand like Target shopping, I come home, throw the shoes off, and continue wearing my socks with a pair of Crocs. Socks only come off when it's time for an evening shower.
Justin Chen
Listening to the Shrier interview, a lot of discussion was on the canceled or drastically changed blizzard projects. The one which really caught my attention was the “hades” version of Diablo 4, which sounded like Blizzard’s take on a souls like. I am curious as to where they would’ve sanded the edges off and what friction they would’ve kept on the genre. What type of games you would yall be interested in seeing a take by a specific developer?
Dusty Beaman
A taller (or deeper) and finished basement (have an unfinished basement but I have to duck to walk around it)
Dusty Beaman
Can't say that it has. Kinda weird since movies and books have...
Mike Lynch
Sure. Why not widen the net?
Dusty Beaman
Also, I'm the person who asked about Ben's dirty laundry, so I love these laundry questions
Quillgrim
What do you wish people understood about your hometown or your favorite city?
Dusty Beaman
Unfortunately, in the middle. I agree with your Target example (wear them again), but after the second wearing, basically no matter how long, they go in the wash

Hello Everybody, When it comes to unique combat mechanics in a game which one stands out to you? Mines is Vagrant Story’s Risk System - The longer Ashley fights a target his accuracy and defense begins to drop. Also you can combo attacks and use defensive abilities but that causes the Risk bar to go up as well.
Dusty Beaman

Dusty Beaman
Really? We can't even get a one-console release for Star Fox and F-Zero....

This is using 120% of your brain!

My "base" PS5 (physical edition) loads WAYYYYY faster than my "base" PS4 (launch model)
Dusty Beaman
It would be variable based on average number of hours to complete. A game that takes roughly 5hrs to beat would have a much short window than an 80hr rpg.
Dusty Beaman
no special use, just use them normally
Dusty Beaman
Mario on NES maybe? Gotta be a NES game right?

I have a job where I cannot heat up the food that I bring to work. So everything I eat, is cold, even food that is traditionally served hot. Pizza, chicken wings, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc. This got me thinking: what is a food that you refuse to eat cold?
Joshua Shelvock
Loving UFO50! It’s so interesting that it tells a story as you play through the games… If you could pull together any group of games to tell a story about the history of gaming, what theme would you choose? Would it be a deep dive on a game mechanic? Perhaps a history of a unique genre? What games would you choose to tell your story?
Nick Petoskey
Hey MinnMax crew! With the unfortunate passing of Ken Page (Oogie Boogie being the main role I think of him in), who’s your favorite Disney antagonist?
Bayleaf Moon
Ahoy there ye co-hearties We have quite a lot of vehicle based games, Cars with Gran Turismo, Mechs with Armored Core and Fighter Jets with Ace Combat, what vehicles do you think are under represented in gaming would like to see more of?

Yo During my last prom as a highschooler I went with my longtime crush. I was most likely going to confess my feelings to her that night but I had found out through her friend that she(my high school crush) only saw me as a friend, I was totally cool with this, and it had absolutely no emotional repercussions, or so I told myself. Long story short this motivated me to hard binge sekiro and beat it all that night for the first time. This is a very long winded way of asking the question. Have you ever been pushed to complete a game purely out of sheer emotional volatility as I did in high-school???
Emmett Watkins Jr.
With all of the flooding in the NC area, (sending my thoughts and donating during that stream!) I've noticed some interesting shifts in media consumption since power and the internet are scarce. Saw a tweet (https://x.com/Ejsponge61/status/1841111898164453388) that showed Walmart shelves cleared of all physical movies and games due to the lack of internet to access these things. Got me thinking about the days/nights when the power goes out temporarily so traditional media is unavailable. So, do any of yall have any memories related to lighter power outages and how they changed your habits? I remember as a kid, when we lost power, wes' all gather in the living room, light candles, and just talk about family drama til we fell asleep, or my Vita battery died. Any memories like that for yall? Thanks and have a great week!
Stevelution
Hey Cohorts, the Deepest Dive part one got me thinkin’. Cooking systems in games often feel like, no pun intended, empty calories. I rarely, if ever, feel like they’re actively fun to engage with and often are more time/labour intensive than the rewards justify. While there are obvious exceptions like Venba, by and large I think I could happily send cooking in games to Room 101. How do you feel about cooking in games as a mechanic?

If money or size wasn't an issue, what is one thing you would want for your house/apartment?

Hello all, Will anyone be trying Metal Hellsinger VR and talking about it on the podcast?
Luca Alberti
Hello crew, as a fellow Ufo50 enthusiast I have to ask: where do we go from here? Do you think we'll see standalone sequels/spin-offs of the games seen in the collection? What game would you like to see expanded upon?
Chalkfullof
I rolled credits on Astro Bot this week and boy-howdy was that a fun credit scene. Before this, Katamari Damacy was the only other game that I thought actually had a fun credit scene (rolling up all the continents of the world). On the other end of the spectrum, I also recently finished Nintendo World Championship: NES Edition which, for a game that is all about speed running, sure had a long and slow credits that you couldn't mash your way through to speed up the text. What are some of your most notable credit scenes?
Tess
What's the game that has changed your perspective the most? It could be your perspective on literally anything, not neceddariy your entire world view. For me, NieR: Automata definitely had me introspective more than any other game.
Frédérik Généreux
Hello Minn Max crew, and mostly Ben for this one ! You've mentioned coming to Quebec on a trip not too long ago and have tried pronouncing our world famous swears a couple of times since then. Since they were (sadly) not quite up to snuff, I thought I'd humbly offer an guide to Quebec swears for the American aficionado to see if it can make you a bit better in Québécois ! Here's a non-exhaustive list of how to pronounce the most useful swears : - Calisse = Kaw-Lease Def : It simply means a Chalice. - Tabarnak = Ta-Bar-Knack Def : It comes from the word «tabernacle», the big box in a church containing the ciborium and the sacramental bread (also named Host in english it seems). - Esti = Eh-Stee Def : «Hostie» is the sacrmental bread. Mess up the word a bit and you get «Eh-Stee». - Criss = Chris Def : It's simply derived from «Christ». - Ciboire = See-Bwar This is the ciborium in english. It is a receptacle made for holding the sacramental brad. And the beauty of it all is that they can all be compounded together in the most satisfying release of frustration you can utter : Eh-Stee de Kaw-Lease de Ta-Bar-Knack de Chris de See-Bwar ! As always, love the show and you guys rock. Big love from Montréal! - Fred

In the recent Max Spielberg interview, it was surprising to learn that his dad enjoys games as well. Who else do you think is a big secret gamer out there?
Cath
Following Jason Shreir interview I was thinking how is always coded as the most in-depth video game journalist are the one that has the Best scoop. Why isn’t there more journalist like him?
Bob Buel
Ok I might be hated for this but I’ve been having this debate with my fiancée for like 2 weeks. How many wears do you get out of a pair of socks? Obviously if there is any exercise or strenuous activity done, that’s a one and done for that pair of socks. But if you just drive to Target, shop and head back home, are those socks going in the hamper? Or could you get one more wear out of them? I argue in certain low strenuous circumstances, you can get 2 to 3 wears out of a pair of socks. While she argues once it touches feet, that sock is going in the laundry. Which side of this do you stand on?
CaffeineDad
Hey y’all! This one is for everyone, but it’s especially for Suriel since he’s a big fighting game guy. We’re nearing GOTY season, and, despite how great Tekken 8 is, I doubt it’ll break into most sites two tens. What needs to change about fighting games to get them into GOTY conversations instead of just “Best Fighting Game” categories? What do fighting games need to do to have their Breath of the Wild moment?
Chandler
Which do you think you have a better shot of winning at? Basketball against a professional basketball player who's wearing hulk hands Or Soccer against a professional soccer player whos wearing flippers
Swiggity Swoo
What is the most common comment on the deepest dive of your life? Hypothetically
David Dubs
Hey Gang, what's y'all's beverage situation looking like? Do you have anything that you have to drink everyday or that you keep stocked?
Duderado
Have you ever replayed a childhood favorite as an adult and came away with a new understanding or appreciation of the game? I recently played through GTA 4 for the first time since being a teenager and the story had much more impact and nuance than I remembered. Is this what getting old is like?
Christian Hall
If you could develop a game based on one food, what food would you choose, what would the premise be, and what would the game be called?
merkmobile
Do any of you have words of wisdom that you live by? Or can you recall any that have stuck with you?
Hugo Pereira
If you had the chance what other franchise would you pick to receive the epic dream treatment - and that means an awesome set of creepy concept art & a dark pitch that everyone gets to see but eventually turns out to a 90% more vanilla game of what it originally set out to be (yet still has some charm).
BEEFCAKE
Salmon + vanilla = salmonella?
BEEFCAKE
In Goat Simulator 3 you can wear Taco shoes that make you fart which gives you like an extra 10 ft boost on jumps.
resnet
Hey Minnmax! It is officially spooky season and you are cursed with living for a year inside the world of a horror game. Which one do you choose?
BEEFCAKE
I second this
Elvis Canaveral
Are you playing -anything- outside of consoles and PCs? Do you have any favorite, non video game, that you like to put quarters in (photo machines, gumball/ toy dispensers, claw machines, pinball?)
Hugo Pereira
Hey MinnMax Cohort! I'm a big fan of Franek, the lead artist on Arco and is nice seeing the slow build of momentum for the game, given it's rather quiet launch. But on the spirit of it's gorgeous pixelart, I have a question for the pannel: what is some of your favorite example of pixelart in a game in the recent years? and we're talking only art here, even if the gameplay is bad, as long as the square-y blocks of art makes you drool, I'm all ears
Kendra
What was your least logical childhood fear? Mine was being abducted by aliens. As an adult living in the US in 2024, now I think I would be glad to climb aboard a starship and head for the skies...
Jarell Pryor
No question today, just two comments. 1. Woot Janet's back! Missed your voice 2. Good stuff with the Asheville pivot. Making the best of a really rough situation! These kinds of actions are why I'm glad to be a patron.
Poofydoo
In a sophisticated way, how would you try to explain to someone how video games are cool?
Jeff D
You guys are obviously playing games, and making friends, but are you actually getting better?
Graham Gilmore
Hey MinnMax! I never played Resident Evil or Silent Hill when I was younger because I wasn’t allowed to or too scared. The same can be said about me watching The Shining or Nightmare on Elm Street. But now that I’m a parent, I don’t want to deprive my children from experiencing what the horror genre has to offer. When and how do you introduce this genre to a younger audience? Thank you!
Jason Wojnar
When was there a time you really fought for an idea at your job despite a higher up or editor striking it down? Did you win and was it worth the argument or back and forth?
Joshua Ayers
If AI makes it possible to procedurally animate FMV characters and environments, how interested would you be in playing games that look just like movies? Are there any genres you would particularly avoid or look forward to? I say gimme some Detective Pikachu and other Pokemon horrors!
Plastic_Sinatra
Hey MinnMax, I've been playing and loving UFO 50, and one of my favorite features in the game is the garden. For those who don't know, each game in the collection has three rewards: a gift for your garden for doing a smaller optional objective, a trophy for beating the game, and a cherry for beating the game with bonus objectives. Every gift you get is added to the garden where a cute lil' pig dude wanders around living his life and interacting with some of the gifts. What I love about this feature is that it gets me to go back to games I didn't like on first impression just for the gifts. Plus it's just a cute lil' ambient screensaver. My question is this: what are some of your favorite ambient or aesthetic features from games that you've enjoyed spending your time with? Thanks for all you do!
BespokeExclamationPoint
Not really a question, but more of a request. Could you do another rapid fire interview with Vader vs Barlog …but this time Cory asks Leo the questions… I think it could be pretty darn funny… maybe we can finally solve the Curtis mystery 🤪
Limp Bizquick
Hoping to not spur a pissy corner with this question but what are the best games of the decade so far?
Malcolm Holliday
What a genre of music did you discover through video games that you ended up loving so much?
GBC
When has a video game prompted you to go read a book? Conversely, can you think of a time that you finished reading a book then sought out a similar game?
Cameron Probert
What is the most mundane thing in a game that you've gotten the most joy from? This question is dedicated to the Akila City sign in Starfield.
Victor Pham
For wedding catering, do you prefer plated or buffet style?
Caroline
Hi y'all, not a question but I'm the community member who pitched Asheville as the meet-up location. I just wanted to say thank you for your fundraiser - it moved me to tears to see you making an effort to help out. I'm safe, but our city is devastated and we're all heartbroken and every little thing matters right now. I love this community and I hope that we can all gather in Asheville next year. Thanks again <3
Mike Lynch
-With Playstation and XBox characters appearing in games on the Switch, do you think it's due to those companies struggling somewhat this console generation. Or is there a world where Nintendo also licenses out their B and C tier franchises in the future? Of course they'd never let go of Mario and Zelda, but I could see multi-console releases for Star Fox, and F-Zero
Jesse Jones
Hey all, following up on the hat-cleaning discussion from last week: The best method I’ve found is to actually wear your hat in the shower, and scrub/clean it as you would your own head! You can clean the inside of it while you’re in the shower then just hang to dry. This maintains the shape of the brim and actually gets it clean.
Drake Heinhorst
Hey MinnMax, Question for Ben this week. Back when the PS5 was revealed they marketed the ssd and how it would change loading times. You said this was a marketing gimmick and that once we got a few years into the console loading times would be just as long as the ps4. How are you feeling about the SSD these days?
Blunkers
Devolver digital announced a new publishing arm focused on licensed property? What's a license you would submit and who would you want to work on it. My suggestion is supergiant working on a mistborn game (book series from Brandon Sanderson)
RiskyChrisP
Hi everyone, and welcome back Suriel! In honor of the new Like a Dragon, what franchise would you most like to see get a pirate themed spin-off? I think an Uncharted pirate game would be a lot of fun. The puzzles and combat feel like they’d be a natural fit, and pirates have always been sort of connected to Drake from a narrative perspective.
Gardevoir Regirock
Missed joke opportunity, when talking about the Horizon Zero Dawn remaster someone should have mentioned the inevitable same day release of the Zelda: BOTW remaster. Also, I heard the great work you are doing regarding the Asheville disaster response. As a representative of the Red Cross, i wanted to mention the impactful work being done by the Red Cross volunteers -- over 1000 of whom have been deployed to aid with disaster recovery.
SenttheProphet
I recently bought up some old Game Informers to build up the collection - shout out “Gameshop Downstairs” in San Jose for an amazing store - well worth a visit I will be going through them, in the meantime, I came up with a fun game. Match the Cover Story - with the inside cover advertisement! Good luck! Read out the list of games and then the ads, and can match one by one Answer key: Cover story : In-Cover Ad GTAV : Assasins Creed 3 Top 50 games of 2006 : Lost Planet Witcher 3: Digital Gameinformer (app) Dead Space : Ratchet & Clank Future Tools of Destruction/Half Life Skryim : Dragon Quest 6 Fun Facts if time : In top 50 games of 2006 story: Top 10 licenses to be used for shows, games - A song of ice and fire was #3 (Game of Thrones) Top 10 disappointments - #10 was Death of E3

Hello all, A question for Suriel; what is the best fighting game franchise and why is it Soul Calibur?
Owen McCarter
Hey gang, what would your dream spin off Yakuza game look like?
Andrew Rennolds
Hey minnmax ! With ps5 pro being only digital when do you think it will be acceptable for the big 3 to release a first party game (AAA) only digitally?
Thom Blackburn
Who is your favorite video game actor, keeping in mind that ben hates actors.
amarti
GringoMaxers - This question is for Suriel & Janet. What is your response to the segment on the last podcast of the crew talking about what makes a taco? I desperately need your reactions. Personally I think all you need is a corn tortilla and meat or meat substitute and anything else is personal preference. No cheese or hard shells for me though
Mason Parker
Hey yall! I run a fast food tex mex restaurant in Texas, and over the last 6 years have made over one million tacos, averaging about 3,000 a week. I would say this makes me an expert. So I am here to declare, as a "POSITA" as Hailey would say, a Taco can absolutely only have meat and cheese. That is how I eat tacos personally and they are incredible. Anyway, my question is this, what is something that you are sure you have done more than 99 percent of the population? I am fairly confident I have made more tacos than nearly anyone alive. Love the podcast! Keep it up!
Amador Lopez
I’ve been listening to Imaginal Disk by Magdalena Bay and was thinking “This album would make a cool Sayonara Wild Hearts-esque game”. What’s an album you like that you would give the SWH treatment?
Neal McMahon
Hey Cohorts, As we are approaching that spooky time of year, does a game with a horror/scary vibe have to come out before or even well before October 31st in order for it to be a true Halloween game? Hubert mentioned this on the Easy Allies podcast last week that Silent Hill 2’s release of October 8th this year is perfect. What do you all think?
Aging_Poorly
Congratulations, you’ve been tasked with deciding the official statute of limitations for spoiler discussions for all types of media: books, movies, videogames, etc. With your decision, everyone must respect that spoilers are not allowed before your chosen time period elapses. After time is up, anything goes. What is the proper amount of time? Is it different for different types of media?
Sean Rubin
What do you do with the heel piece on the ends of a loaf of bread? Do you use them whenever? Do you toss them? Do you have a special use for them?
Travis in Fargo
What was the first good video game? I mean, what is the oldest video game you would actually want to go back and play for fun, not just as an academic exercise?
Jeremy (FuzzyGruzzy)
Howdy, Cohorts! What breeds of dog have you not yet gotten to pet?
James Carr
Hey MinnMax crew, whenever I go to a store I look for a strange or limited time drink to buy, with one of the worst ones I have found being a Jelly Belly branded chocolate sparkling water. Is there any type of relatively inexpensive item you always grab if you see it at a store?
Dylan Caudill
Have any of you seen Megalopolis yet? It’s pretty terrible, but in the best possible way. I’ve already seen it twice it’s so fun to watch, and I’m watching it again Thursday with friends. What’s your favorite bad movie to watch?
Travis in Fargo
What’s your favorite bonus food? I know some people love an onion ring in the fries, but my personal fave is when you get a milkshake at a diner and they give you the frosty metal mixing cup. Yum!
ChazCheeto
Hey MM! What is the oldest protagonist you've ever played as in a game? Elves who are 200 but live to 1500 don't count (unless you want them to). I'm having trouble thinking of a game that had me play as a grandparent or a character age 50+.
Donald Wieden
What is a niche skill you have that you never/rarely get to use?
Neal McMahon
Hey all, Not a question, but rather a weird observation: the other day | was searching online for MinnMax content via my iPhone's voice to text feature. Instead of the phone capturing "MinnMax", it took me to the website for "Minwax" (I will leave the site address below-not dirty) which is a provider of floor maintenance products. Ever think how small of world it is where if you flip the "M" and add an "N", your name matches another company's?! Anyway —maybe there's a marketing collab in store? Any thoughts on floor maintenance products? Love the show! https://www.minwax.com/en? gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADjTKrv g2G_2qMakQExFQpf-6X_BW&gclid=E Alal@obChMIoLGHlu-viAMV- F3_AR2WngV3EAAYASAAEgJkZ_D_B wE&gclsrc=aw.ds).
