One of the reasons that I don't think was touched on (maybe I forgot) I think this game didn't land as well as the original, and why the original is so beloved, is that Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, and that first time Life is Strange boots up back in 2015 it oozes nostalgia all over: High School is a nostalgia hit, Polaroids, diners, hanging out with a grungey punk, childhood friends who play pirates, step dads who yell about "Are you using GRASS??!". They all have smart phones and computers, but everything feels like it could be in the 90's, or really "whenever flavor" of nostalgia you want it to taste like, you can probably find it. Double Exposure isn't nostalgic for anything except plot points from the original Life is Strange. Everything feels fresh and clean and 2024. The Snapping Turtle is the only thing that has potential for nostalgia, and it feels exactly like walking into any modern craft brewery (which I personally very much enjoyed the vibes of, but it isn't nostalgia). It certainly wasn't the main thing holding it back, that I would almost say is akin it Mass Effect Andromeda trying to pick up the original trilogy's Torch, and just not delivering fully (fortunately we didn't have the buggy disasters of Andromeda), but the like of that Nostalgia buzz is certainly something that will always make the original appealing and makes Double Exposure feel less enticing to play through again.

1:37:00 I think you find Safi is not an okay person throughout the narrative, and I like they make her likeable and charismatic, and then reveal her problematic aspects as you're going along. You learn a lot about Safi in the Living World about her using her powers to do messed up kinda stuff, selfish stuff, and it makes her interesting as a character. Safi feels like proto-Magneto and Max needs to set up her.... maX-Men, and one of X-men's most amazing plot points has always been that Xavier and Erik had an incredible friendship and alliance before the world's reaction pushed them apart. I think it will be interesting to see them try and do this story of Max and Safi on opposite sides who can still have a conversation in the future.
