You don't have to look up the time setting of the movie mostly everyone went in blind when it first came out that's one of the points of watching movies, realizing and figuring out the plot as it goes on, eventually they will tell you everything.

lol nope not even close. sorry you can take your media prescribed bullshit line and get lost. the movie was horrible. the character is horrible and has never been popular. they ham-fisted it in and it didnt work and it was the beginning of them fucking everything up which is now in FULL SWING.

I think if it was written better it could have worked. Look at Shang Chi. Great movie. Good writing and it seamlessly fit in. But this was agenda driven and not very fun to watch.
