'Personal Opinion' vs 'Ruining Other Peoples Enjoyment'

And after going through many of the discussions in the recent polls, we just wanted to put out a reminder to everyone that while it can be frustrating when a poll does not go the way you personally wish it would go, it does not mean the movie or show you wanted will never be watched. It simply means it will be watched at a later date.
The one thing we always asked from everyone is to treat eachother with respect and civility, and to keep the peace is because all we really want to ensure everyone here have a good time, some escapism away from the unpleasantness of the real world. That's it. Which is why we put heavy emphasis on asking everyone to refrain from putting down others for having different preferences. To insinuate anyone who prefers X over Y must there for be something to be dismissive about and talk down to.
We have no problem with you sharing why you dislike something, in fact we encourage it, we want to hear your thoughts on why something didnt work for you. But saying "I dont like this because these reasons" is not the same as "People like that thing? I guess everyone here must be children/boomers/whatever dismissiveness". And we definitely, DEFINITLEY do not appreciate anyone who proceed to reply to multiple comments where people are celebrating their choice taking the lead with "You are wrong for wanting this". You have the right to dislike something, but you do not get to make others feel bad for liking it. You wouldn't loudly proclaim in a theatre lobby that anyone holding a ticket to another movie must be lesser would you?
So let other people enjoy their thing. Just as they should let you enjoy your thing when its time comes.
So please, please try to remember behind each name you see on screen is an actual person, who enjoy, laugh, cry and dislike things the same way you do. Be kind to one another. The rest of the internet is already going through an Empathy Recession, lets not bring that in here as well. Try to find common ground, ask them why they like something, see it from their point of view, walk a mile in their shoes, and if you still dont like it, then at least youre a mile away and got their shoes.

I don't even know why this post is necessary, Simone and George seem to have cultivated such a nice 'community' here of like minded individuals. Sure, you're not going to like 100% of the movies they review, but we all became members for a reason... Because we are all- Simone, George and the rest of you scoundrels- On the same page... Mostly haha... As a paranoid GenXer,I NEVER join any internet 'community' but I did it for Cinebinge.. No ragerts.

It's pretty nuts how toxic some other Patreon comment sections have been when I was a member. Just kills the whole vibe sometimes. Here is a lot better, more friendly. I mean it sucks the post had to be made but there's been a few of these reminders to be nice and honestly I think it helped.

Fortunately, imo Cinebinge still has the most chill, and relaxed community anywhere online. I've messaged George to tell him it's amazing they've got it to be this civil. Everywhere else online is constant arguments over nothing and a lot of creators just let shit go and then ban people over the most mundane things. Every one of us is flawed, we all make mistakes, and we can all be wrong. It sucks that society seems to deem people apologizing or admitting they're wrong a bad thing. It shows maturity.

This is exactly why I didn’t vote in the recent poll. I personally didn’t like any of the options, I’ve nothing against anyone who did like them but they just weren’t for me so I decided not to vote so as not to influence the poll in anyway for the people who DID really like and want one or other of the shows to win.

I tend to not engage in the chat or comments because people on the internet (for the past couple of decades, at least) see differing opinions as attacks on their very existences. Nobody can agree to disagree anymore. If you like cake and I like pie, you're the enemy and must be destroyed.

I just want to pass a metaphorically dank joint of "It's not that hard to be cool" to everyone, offer it, the kine way that Cinebinge offers their reactions, you don't have to partake, it's cool. It's a party for people who like movies and such. But some people feel the need to bring their drama. Can't escape them anywhere it seems. Like my favorite uncle used to say, Fuck em, if they can't take a joke. ¿Y que me vez pendejo?

I'm someone whose always happy to share his opinion on why I like or don't like something, but getting into personal arguments over taste is all so pointless. What are you hoping is gonna happen, you'll somehow persuade someone that the thing they like they actually don't like?
