One fact I was hoping George would cover, Peter Hinwood who played Rocky, didn't speak English and his singing was dubbed over. He was a model with little acting experience. Now retired and works as an antiques dealer. He said he feels embarrassed and cringe when he sees himself in the movie, but has appeared at fan events despite expressing awkwardness of his performance in the movie. The best time to watch this movie on the 50th anniversary. At the midnight showings, there are people who yell out asshole when Brad's name is mentioned in the movie and yell bitch when Janet's name is mentioned. Part of the midnight gatherings. I plan on going to one of the midnight showings this Saturday.

George, it's funny you should wonder whether the "lips" actor would feel very self-conscious, because the last time you saw her, she was having sex with John Cleese in front of a room full of students.

If anyone does particularly enjoy trivia, Entertainment Weekly just had a 50th anniversary conversation with Tim Curry, Brad, Magenta and Colombia. It’s posted on the EW YouTube channel and worth a watch.

As great as this film is on its own merits, IMHO its the audience participation that has maintained its iconic status decades later.

It was Curry's first movie, but he had previously played the role on stage, along with Richard O'Brien (who wrote the musical), Patricia Quinn (who later became Lady Stephens when she married Maggie Smith's former husband, actor Sir Robert Stephens), and pop singer Little Nell. Sarandon and Bostwick were cast for the movie because of the American studio financing. The budget was low and did not allow for a lot of retakes; during the kick dance number of the floor show you can see Bostwick grimace when Sarandon accidentally stepped on his foot with her spike heel. Whether it could be made in 2025 specifically is a question, given what is going on in the US, but in 2016 Fox broadcast a live performance of the stage show, something that it has done with other movie musicals adapted from stage originals.

Please tell me I'm not the only one doing the audience lines while watching this :)

Now that you've seen Clue and Rocky Horror, you should see Legend for another amazing Tim Curry performance.
