AEnimaExists

Still high in the present??

AEnimaExists

Shoulda been Spotlight...the timing of these polls is not good for my life schedule.

MaikeruNeko

Here's hoping the near-tie gets Spotlight in the queue sooner rather than later. It is a fantastic movie, and as others have said, it's right up George's alley of people doing what they're good at, very well.

Lachlan Caldwell

I was really hoping for "The Perks of being a Wallflower" staring Hermione Granger after she left Hogwarts, and The Flash before his career ran head-first into a wall. 😆

Martin

Excited that Boyz N The Hood won. I took an elective course in college called “City in Literature” and did my finals thesis on this movie. I ended up getting an A on it even though I was high as f*** when I wrote it and attempted to hypothesize that Doughboy was a tainted Christ figure. Liberal arts courses :).

Jeremy Charlie

Sideways is really good. Also, one of my favorite performances by Giamatti.

Roy A

It didn't tie, but it's so close. Hopefully they do both.

LazyBoy Stays Up Late Watchin Video Tapes

They save the runner ups and high voted picks in a curated archive.

Jihad Lee

7 vote difference. Boyz N The Hood in the lead with 2 hours left. Let’s see if we can get a tie!

Brianna Williams

Any interest in doing the second Hunger Games move, Catching Fire? It's soooo much better than the first one.

Gary Fixler

I wonder if what George is remembering is Dave Gorman, British documentary comedian. His miniseries, "Are You Dave Gorman?" is amazing and really funny: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_K5je-5omQ

Huckleberry lobo

I'm "dramatically" kickin arse if Batman v Superman: Ultimate Edition is not in the near future LFG 🙌🏼🥳🥳🥳

⚽ Andrew 🏈

💯 we get both ✅

Jihad Lee

We might be heading in for a tie with Boyz N The Hood and Spotlight. What will happen if that happens?

Robert Finlay

Please watch the Wrestler even if it doesn't win this poll.

Civil Hooligan

Humbly requesting American Me and Shin Godzilla.

Relic

The Hustler (1961) The Cincinnati Kid (1965)

Mavs4177

I was wondering Adam Sandler movie? Then remember Reign Over Me. It won't win, but I really liked that movie.

Greg Johanson

Spotlight is ahead? Stop the count! /jk mostly

Greg Johanson

Last time there was a virtual tie gangs of New York and Superman were both put up in short order. So fingers crossed because I adore spotlight but Boyz is a good winner so I can’t be that mad

paul rai

Absolutely insane he didn’t get a Best Actor nomination, despite the film getting into Picture, Director, Adapted Screenplay (which it won), supporting actor and supporting actress. He must have been so so close to getting in but was probably knocked out by one of the fringe nominees. He’s incredible in Sideways. So heartbreaking but sympathetic.

paul rai

Incredibly close race between Spotlight and Boyz N the Hood. As of 10:45 am EST, it’s a difference of 7 votes, with Boyz in the lead (I remember the day prior Spotlight was heavily out front), which is amazing for two equally phenomenal films. I hope both films win get watched, as well as these other picks because they’re great. I know George is gonna love the competence porn of people being great at their jobs in Spotlight.

Matthew Abbott

Needs to give Spotlight a push! It needs to win, such an amazing film.

Matthew Abbott

It’s good, but it’s up against Spotlight, so I simply can’t vote for it.

802jay

I see an Adam Sandler movie I vote for it.

Max Carter

Wow this is a close one. I love Boyz n the Hood a lot but Spotlight is such a phenomenal and important movie and I've been wanting to see their reaction to it for years so definitely has my vote this time.

Cincassette

Paris Texas is one of my favourites! A must watch!

Jimmy Jackson

Sideways. A little, forgotten gem. I feel Spotlight is overrated. Oh well...

China Andronicus

It doing really well. It looks like it has a good chance to come in second, which means we would get it fairly soon. Fingers crossed!

Bruce Liddle

Sad that Sideways isn't doing better. Paul Giamatti is superb in it. Career best from all the cast.

Christopher Feiertag

More love for“ „Spotlight“, please. I‘ve been waiting eons for my favorite journalism-movie to make an appearance @CineBinge.

Dustin Duvall

IMO theres a couple more they should watch before Menace

Allboroking

Finally, Spotlight is in a poll! I saw it with a friend who made me go with him when it was nominated for best picture. I had no idea what it was about and was blown away by how good it was. Great actors, important topic.

Simon Pegged Me

For a future Dramatics poll, I recommend Quiz Show (1994)—R.I.P. Robert Redford—and Big Night (1996).

Shawn B

"Willow" (1988)

Shawn B

I gotta go with, "Reign Over Me" It's rare that you get Adam Sandler in a drama.

Stuart Sutcliffe

BOYZ 'N' THE HOOD!! I'm not gonna lie, I watched it for the first time last year, but I was so impressed by the story, the actors, and the authenticity and artistry that went into it.

Snuggelbum

where is The Remains of the Day? peak classic British drama!

Echo

I can't believe how poorly Fried Green Tomatoes is doing! It must be because the youths have not seen it. Y'all... do yourself a favor, I beg!

TexasNight

It is a CRIME that Sideways is not winning this poll... :(

paul rai

That scene with “Drive All Night” playing through his headphones, as he recounts his family’s loss to Don Cheadle. Gets me every time.

Skylar Burns

Reign Over Me is an underrated film. Adam Sandlers best performance imo. Oscar worthy.

Skylar Burns

Ricky!!

Stephanie Bedworth

I'd love to see a reaction to BlacKkKlansman.

Bella Blue

Requests for your consideration: End of Q check in. Out of the 22 films I saw at the theater in 3Q 2025 these are the ones I"d most like to see a reaction to - M3GAN 2.0 (Note: Obviously you need to watch the first one prior to this) - Daniela Forever - Oh, Hi! - The Naked Gun - Together - Weapons - Splitsville - A Little Prayer - Relay - The Conjuring: Last Rites (Note: Obviously you need to catch way up on the Conjuring Universe first) - Griffin In Summer - The Long Walk - One Battle After Another - Eleanor The Great That is 14 of the 22...I'm a pretty easy critic and I just love films!

Bella Blue

All excellent films...about 4 I'd love a reaction to... I personally voted for Sideways

SnabbKassa

overheard in a line for movie tickets back in the day: "I can't remember what it's called! I think it's something like "the benefits of being a cauliflower??"

MapleResolve

I had no interest in seeing Spotlight until it won Best Picture. I've since watched it 6-7 times. A remarkably good film.

Lubbock

nothing wrong with people preferring something else different than what you like. no need to be rude about it.

Edina Lewis

The lack of votes for “Fried Green Tomatoes” has ruined my entire day. What is wrong with you people?

Actuarial Lurker

Boyz n the Hood got my vote, though overall this was a weak field....

Greg Johanson

Not me checking the poll all day like it's an election day.

Jihad Lee

I really want to see their reaction to Boyz In The Hood!

grischa

Hoping for Boyz 'n' the Hood :) I dont know if its the right place, but I suggest "Ozark" and "BoJack Horsemen" for the next series/show poll.

REDR58

Let's get BITH up on top!

Paul Peavler

I agree that Reign Over Me is a tier below, but still underrated IMO.

Brandon Meng

*cries in my favorite movie not winning the poll* When we put two of my all time favorite movies in a poll again (Perks of Being a Wallflower, Sideways), can we avoid pairing them with juggernauts like Spotlight, Boyz'n the Hood, and the Wrestler please? These are all such iconic movies and deserved to be watched! Also, best Adam Sandler dramas are Uncut Gems and Punch Drunk Love. Reign Over Me is in a tier below, I'd say. I can't make any recommendations this week because two of mine are already in the poll! Cheers and thanks to all you do!

LazyQ

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2017) Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011) The Thin Red Line (1998) The Unknown Soldier/Tuntematon Sotilas (2017, specifically the superior five-part series)

Rob Parry

This is the best poll in a while all of these should be watched

Brandon Meng

just an absolute iconic line

G P

Doctor Sleep reaction is available on this site

David Zabel

Fletch Strange Brew The Dirty Harry series Doctor Sleep See No Evil, Hear No Evil Southern Comfort Stone Cold Stripes UHF 8MM Dirty Rotten Scoundrels Parenthood

Kelly Pickard

For future consideration… Movies: - Waking Ned Devine (1998) - The Devil Wears Prada (2006) - Hook (1991) - The Birdcage (1996) - Margin Call (2011) - Legend (1985) - The Adventures of Priscilla: Queen of the Desert (1994) - The King's Speech (2010) - Flash Gordon (1980) - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) - City Slickers (1991) TV: - Batman: The Animated Series - Disney's Gargoyles - Barry (Max)

Stephanie Bedworth

I’ve seen them both. I can’t even remember the last time I saw Boyz. Probably when it came out on video. The other one I’ve watched several times over the years.

Raymond DeGraw

With October here... I'd love to see some polls for Halloween type movies...like these... 1. Little Shop of Horrors (1986) 2. The Others 3. The Monster Squad 4. Killer Klowns from Outer Space 5. M.3.G.A.N

Ben Stevens

I voted for everything but the movie with Ezra Miller this week.. will be happy with anything but that :)

nossieboy

Fried Green Tomatoes is a good one:)

Stelio Kontos

Vote Boyz n the hood for good luck!

Michael Taylor

Since you guys just watched RHPS… Perks of Being a Wallflower!!!

Tom M

Boyz followed by Don’t Be a Menace pls

Chris Kelley

I would really like to see them do That thing you do! (1996). It has at least two actors from you’ve got mail ( just saying)

Chris Kelley

I’m just curious how many of you have seen the movies from 1991. I assume I’m one of the older people here and I haven’t seen either of them in more than 30 years. Both good movies.

Lubbock

october just began. maybe give them some time?

G P

Requesting: Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992) Barry Lyndon Ed Wood

Allen Pass

Are we only having one horror movie for October? Was Conjuring 2 it? That's sad. Don't like watching movies like "Boyz 'n' the Hood because it perpetuates negative stereotypes. They (the film makers) intentionally didn't even spell half the title correct... Voted for The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

RichieRich

Some recommendations I think you guys will enjoy The Cable guy (1996) The Last boyscout (1991) Fanboys (2009) Death to Smoochy (2002) Fame (1976) Insomnia (2002) The birdcage (1996) Riki oh: the story of Riki (1991) White men can’t jump (1992) Kingpin (1996)

Anonymous Andy

Anyone in the mood for some Merlot?

Tanner

There are dozens of us!

Dustin Duvall

if Boyz wins, you can start your journey towards Don't be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood.

Daniel Smith

Solid list, have only seen Perks and I think there are better films on that list. Weekly shout out for Never Let Me Go. Also throwing in The Color of Money into the mix.

Daniel Smith

Eastern promises has something special for Simone……..

John_rd

Ohhh the wrestler. Come onnnn love this movie it's so good.

Amelie W

Aah, The Wrestler is a very good one. You may have heard this when you did Black Swan, but it can be good to consider these two as a sequence. Not a series, they're unrelated movies, but together they form something like a thesis. We don't see that a lot in movies, not the kind with a budget anyway, so it's nice. I always like when people try to do something different.

Seth

As far as dramas go, please check out the collaborations between David Cronenberg and Viggo Mortensen. A History of Violence (2005) and Eastern Promises (2007) feature career-best work from Viggo. A Dangerous Method (2011), a psychological drama about Freud and Jung, and Crimes of the Future (2022), a return to body horror, aren’t as essential but are certainly worth a look.

Seth

Voting for Spotlight, it looks right up my alley. The only one I’ve seen is Sideways, which I’d love to see a reaction to. But there’s nothing there that I don’t want to see.

m0lika1 .

One day Fried Green Tomatoes will win 😭😩 been a favourite of mine since childhood but would love to see you react to Spotlight as well

Michael Green

Lots of great stuff here, but Fried Green Tomatoes is by far my favorite on this list; ah well, they'll get to it someday 😁

Anamondaris

Spotlight and Perks for me👍

Anamondaris

I would love to see you guys react to Wind River. It is an A24 film though☹️

Thirty Year Old Mulberry Field

Another stellar list for the drama poll! :D For future consideration: “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” “Paris, Texas” “Magnolia” “Brokeback Mountain” “Slumdog Millionaire”

Ali D

This would be a great reaction 😂

Daniel P.

For a future drama poll, please consider: Road to Perdition and Last of the Mohicans!

Alex Ch

I gave it a vote. it’s not my absolute favorite, but I do think we should include more films about women and it is good.

Jimi Hart

… I saw that liev schreiber is in spotlight and got excited for some more Cotton Weary

Jimi Hart

When Scream 3?

Happy Hanukkah

Oh Lord, the drama!

Noah Kasper

Fried Green Tomatoes is such a fantastic movie. Wished it was doing better

Ste Rawlings

Been waiting for Spotlight for like 2.5 years, it's like the ultimate George film.

Dan Holmes

All great actually.

Dan Holmes

Spotlight is a subtle masterpiece

Logan Boggess

Fried Green Tomato’s is an all timer. Can’t wait for this one to be watched

JBK405

I don't think "Fried Green Tomatoes" has any chance of winning, which is TRAGIC because it is brilliant and I don't think I've ever seen it 'break out' like some of these other films. Even if it doesn't win, ya'll should watch it on your own time anyway.

Tmatts

Perks of Being a Wallflower is so good, and such a great Emma Watson showcase imo

Rhiannon

Serious Adam Sandler is my favorite Adam Sandler

Rhiannon

Agreed, I'm so bummed it has so few votes.

Grandalf

Recommendations for this week: TRUE ROMANCE (Written by Q. Tarantino) LAST OF THE MOHICANS (Not giving up on this one!) LEGENDS OF THE FALL (...or this one!)

Potsi

Reign over Me is mega underrated and looks like it still is.. I dont think i have seen one reaction to it

Richard Cranium

Reign Over Me and Spanglish are both severely underrated Sandler movies. They're both so good...

djKENTO

Can we please get some work by Spike Lee on the dramatic poles. One of America’s best directors who easily made americas most important film with Do The Right Thing

Ashton Lewis

Lets go Spotlight. You know what to do Cinebingers; lets make it happen.

Stephanie Bedworth

I wish Sideways and Reign Over Me got a little more love. Both of those are great movies that are well worth watching.

FWPJR.

I love seeing Boyz N the Hood on here, I really like that movie. It would definitely be fun to watch you two react to it. Now I hope to see Menace to Society on a poll sometime soon.

MarsOneUp

Boyz N The Hood and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Tremendous coming of age films 🥹 First time recommending: - Repo Man (1984) - Gone in 60 Second (2000 or 1974)

Jason McCloud

Some excellent choices this week

Ph4ZeD

Go go Spotlight, such a great film

Kaushik Sethunath

Here's requesting 2015 Best Picture winner and black comedy, Birdman! For the filmmaking, performances and general vibe, I think it'll be right up George and Simone's alley, and would make for a great reaction. Would love to atleast see it in a poll soon!

Adam

I saw One Battle After Another, this weekend. Totally deserving of the hype. Gotta add that one to the queue.

I cant say that name out loud. That's horrible!

Spotlight is currently winning. I anticipate lots of "oh my god. Oh my God! OH MY FUCKING GOD!" next week.

Taterology

Reign over me won't win, but it's a really good movie showing Sandler's acting chops.

Wally

Reign over me is another Sandler movie that shows his serious side. Hankies required 😭

JoeE

Would also recommend dog day afternoon, marathon man, anatomy of a murder, m

Gearóid O'Sullivan

Spotlight is a superb movie. Tough subject matter, but dealt with outstandingly well. Great cast, and great performances.

SANAMDEEP

boyz in da hood is one of the best drama movies oat maybe top 5

Jacob King

Spotlight will definitely fit George’s love of competence porn. Incredible Michael Keaton performance.

Jeffrey Mitchell

Always makes me a little sad that Fried Green Tomatoes does so poorly in the polls. But I'm gonna keep voting for it even if it takes a decade.

FranciscoGios

Reign Over Me is the choice for me.

RandomNevermind

Please consider those for the next poll And the Justice for All (1979) What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962)

Jeffrey Mitchell

Fried Green Tomatoes is great. Highly recommend. I would say it has a similar vibe.

beefjerkywizard

Not at the moment...

Jaime Medina

Let’s go Boyz N The Hood and The Wrestler! And an overall really good list. All winners here

punterjoe

Too many great choices. What a happy dilemma. 😀

Kameron Webb

Come on, Perks!

Christopher Carson

Sandler in Reign is one of my favorites.

Jeff K

In addition to Boyz, I'd also recommend checking out Menace II Society... and while we're at it, sticking with Larenz Tate (he's in Menace, not Boyz), I'd recommend the movie Dead Presidents, too.

Philipp Roensch

Both front-runners are worth it, great picks.

Jpsynergy

Tough choice for me between Sideways, Spotlight, and The Wrestler. Fried Green Tomatoes I think is a wonderful film that will always make me think of my mom. Really there's no bad choices here.

Nikodem

Good list. Spotlight is amazing! A few more Drama/Thriller suggestions: - The machinist - Panic room - One hour photo - Identity - The secret life of Walter Mitty - 127 hours - Nightwatch (1997) - Jarhead - Lucky number Slevin - Smokin' Aces

TheLeftPecOfTheLord

Is anyone else having issues getting onto Cinebingers.ca?

Friedrich Schulze

Wanted to watch Spotlight again anyway. Hope it gets top 2.

Brandon

I got my way with Grosse Pointe Blank last week, I guess it was too much to ask that my personal favorite choice this week (Sideways) takes it as well. 😅 Great choices, though. The only one I haven't seen on this list is Fried Green Tomatoes. Can anyone tell me if it's anything like 'Beaches' or 'Steel Magnolias'? It's giving me those vibes.

Jack

Sideways is my favourite film it’s great to see it in a poll spotlight would also be a good choice

Jack

Same here

Spacedone

Spotlight for me. Only film I've seen that left an entire cinema audience in stunned silence as the credits started rolling and the lights were turned back on.

JayF

Spotlight is incredibly good but just be sure to prepare yourselves for the subject matter.

Matthew Abbott

Spotlight is one of the best films ever made.

paul rai

So many incredible choices. I want them all to win! I will say, if you want a great dramatic Adam Sandler film, put Punch-Drunk Love on a future poll. It’s by PT Anderson (Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood), and it’s one of his best performances, I like Reign Over Me a lot, too! Anytime Sandler delves into a dramatic role, he crushes it in spades.

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Merlot sales funnily enough tanked post-release of “Sideways” worldwide for a brief spell. Was in wine marketing at the time down here in Aus as it happened and was always tickled by having to explain a movie was responsible for its dip in preference to producers at the time 😂

Max Carter

YES please let Spotlight win this time. The subject matter is about as tough as it gets although there's thankfully nothing graphic depicted visually. It is however a perfectly made film from top to bottom in my opinion, the writing, perfomances and score are spot on and I think it's an important watch for everyone.

maikeru

From the Sideways director: Election (1999), a highly entertaining movie

jmundt33a

Spotlight and Sideways got my votes.

Thomas Cunningham

Glad to see Spotlight on here and I hope it wins. Also, in that vein, think about adding "The Post", "All The President's Men", and "Dark Waters" to a future poll. Also please please please think about adding "Into The Wild" (2007) to a future dramatic poll as well. Thank you.

Victor Fiegel

The Wrestler and Spotlight got my votes

Lyle Morgan

No one ever reacts to Sideways. Lots of great ones here, but Sideways gets the vote.

Cc Decc

Oh goodness, some great movies on this list. The Wrestler is brilliant and one I've suggested. I don't always thumbs up Perks, but its got unusual depth for a coming of age story. And I consider Reign Over me to be Sandler's best dramatic effort.

Roger Davies

Meh

Jeff K

And wait until they find out that the guy who wrote (and won an Oscar for the screenplay) and directed it is the guy who played Scott Templeton, the bullshit journalist who made everythign up, in season five of The Wire.

RogueRN

As challenging as it is to do so, I’ve seen Spotlight a few times. It’s a great movie with some absolutely outstanding performances.

Derek

I'm not sure I've ever hit a poll option faster in my life than I did for Spotlight. An incredible movie.

Greg Johanson

Let’s go spotlight my favorite of last decade

dimona tekle

omg the perks of being a wallflower!!! so gooddd

John Briggs

Sideways is my favorite film, so definitely voting for that one.

Tony2Dirty

I’m super goin for Boyz in the Hood. Ice Cube’s first film, it’s the film that made wanna make Friday as a funny comedy to show the hood ain’t all bad and sad, it’s a must watch.

dom

i never see anyone react to wallflower its such a looked over movie

Zachary Plouffe

This poll confirming that I am one of the only people in the world who loves Reign Over Me

Jean-Dominic Lapointe

I haven’t see most of them. Maybe I’ll watch them with you

Ali D

I adore Fried Green Tomatoes but Spotlight is phenomenal. It’s so well done, and the story that it’s telling is so important.

Harry Fieldson

Boyz N The Hood is a legendary film - really hope it wins

Tim Hibbard

The secret’s in the sauce!

TheLeftPecOfTheLord

Boyz N The Hood and Spotlight are two absolutely essential viewings, hoping for either, and always love more dramatic Sandler with Reign Over Me

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

Gotta go for “Sideways” because not only is it tied for my favourite movie ever alongside LOTR - it has one of its scenes as this guy’s profile picture haha. “Reign Over Me” and “Spotlight” are stellar also! Great list dudes!

Jeff K

Really hoping for Boyz. Such an amazing movie. (My second choice is Sideways, but I am NOT drinking any fuckin' Merlot.)
