Llammissar

Through the Doylist power of nerds on the internet! ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ

Amelia

I should add that Kaia doesn't know a whole lot about steam engines yet. She'll learn, though!

Amelia

Yup, and that's because at smaller scales, it's much harder to get a good pressure differential when you're trying to save all the water. Bigger engine means bigger condenser means more surface area means more efficient condenser means... Etc etc

Llammissar

It depends. Most steam locomotives were open; this is why water towers and taking on water were so crucial and why things like water troughs were developed for refill _in situ._ Larger infrastructural engines (like the preserved specimen at Woburn Municipal Waterworks in Massachusetts) or *especially* maritime engines found on ships were pretty much all closed loop with condensers, though.

Shaelitan

I loved the chapter as always btw ❤️

Shaelitan

Uh really? It's been some time since I researched it and I stopped once I had a good idea of how it worked but I only remember seeing closed circuit systems for locomotive engines. Don't mind me then and thanks for the info.

Amelia

They're not all closed circuits. Many/most steam locomotives for example would simply eject the steam with the smoke.

Shaelitan

Steam engine are closed circuits, at least those that were used in locomotives. They had a way to release some vapor when there was too much pressure though, that's were the whistling come from.

FeliSenpai

I like brick storyline it's more that I am scared something bad will happen before they tell eachother they love

Luminarylumenwood

Same!!! It's starting to become unbearable

FeliSenpai

Omg Kaia being a living, breathing flirt.🫦 I need those two to get together!!!

CatharticDreams
