Coming of the End-chill
🕑 Added 2020-01-16 15:48:51 +0000 UTCThe unrelenting wind howls as it drives snow into your face like frozen knives. Bad luck getting caught outside in this storm. Even your teeth feel numb as they chatter involuntarily against the cold.
Your heart races when you see a dark human-sized shape move into view as you plod onwards through the snowstorm. Is someone else out in this white hell?
The shape springs into sudden action and leaps away through winds and snow with unnatural ease. Your cries for help are blown away by the raging winds.
The quickly disappearing tracks lead to a large building looming out of the snowstorm. A horse-shaped black wooden sign creaks and swings in the freezing winds.
Heya, everyone! This adventure seed was inspired by Deathworks' creative input 'snow storm'. It took some effort to find art that matches the feel of the adventure seed, but it also offered a nice opportunity to see what other artists I can use on this project. Bonus!
I enjoyed making and playtesting this adventure seed because I think you'll find that it mixes a few interesting tropes, but leaves plenty of room to switch things up as you progress in your narrative.
For example, in my playtest the ice creature turned out to be the druid's totem familiar who was very mad that the caravan 'survivors' had tried to kill the druid and her friends before the snowstorm started. Which meant my character was locked in the inn with thieves and murderers... fun times :)

I really like Usurper's table for task resolution as its results give you good stuff to work. If it came with a Yes/No Oracle, it would be a strong solo system as it has lots of random content generators. I think it can easily ported to other settings, but it does not yield itself to combat-heavy play (that is, lots of combats in a row) as that would quickly wear the party down. Good call about the art! Thats exactly what I was thinking about the monster manual art. Also, the bw line art versions work well with the artist I use for locations. Usurper looks great, interesting... 🤗

Hi! This looks nice, thanks! And the art is good. It reminds me of the AD&D 2nd edition Monstrous Manual, you know the one with the black side. I definitely have to put together something to play all your things. I am not sure whether I should AD&D 2nd, Adventures Dark and Deep, or Usurper (^_^;;
