How to progress?
🕑 Added 2024-10-25 09:10:57 +0000 UTCHey peeps! I've been making a ton of progress on Stellar Surf over the past month, will be dropping some WIPS in the morning when I'm up again. However, I have been thinking long and hard about how I want the project to progress.
I should be honest. I'm fatigued of SFM's animation system. It has served me well in the past, but my nostalgia is waning, and as I look to newer projects I want to retain better fidelity, as well as displaying my newer rig systems for Griff and Coby; sooner rather than later. I want to complete this project as soon as possible.
You've already seen Coby's Blender model twerk in the backrooms and some comms, and the latest Egypt AU variant, and I want a sex scene to be just as hot and bouncy for his sci-fi escapades with Griff! So I've been asking myself, why hold off on using such a model if you know you're eventually going to anyway, it look better, and animates easier?
Animation for the first movie is about 60-70% complete. There is mixed Blender media already present in establishing shots/off planet views (as I've been grossly frustrated with SFM's 32-bit limit), but now I'm just thinking it'd be better for end scenes also. To preface, Stellar Surf Elysium next year will be a completely Blender-based project.
Animation I've done in SFM already I will retain going forward, and I'll do my best to adapt new Blender animation so it doesn't look too differing. (Hell, maybe I'll make a meta-reference based on my decision lmao)
What do you guys think? I greatly value your opinions on how I should continue here.

Blender is the superior software.

I'm totally fine with you using a mix, since you'll be going forward using blender for the project next year, using blender for the end scenes in Part One is a good way to transition the media for what's to come. Plus, I'm all for you using what makes ya' happy and easier to animate.

i LOVE the thiccer coby blender model, so if you feel it's easier to use that then absolutely go for it! i'd consider it a win-win!

From my standpoint, if you already have a knowledge in Blender and have multiple improved things in it, then mixing it together is great idea. There is no point to redo all the scenes in Blender, you can always put some kind of filter on during the post-production and it may seem like it's not from SFM. Anyway, hopefully there is no burnout incoming from this and you'll be able to proceed with such an extraordinary huge project of yours.

I see it as potentially fun thing! Perhaps those two goobers touch something they’re not supposed to and suddenly everything is in better quality. lol. Always do what makes you happy and proud. Go with your gut!

If you like to use a different model i dont see a lot of cons to just mix IT up
