I'm having this problem too with some videos. I tried opening it with both apps you mentioned but am still having this problem. When I try opening them with "Movies & TV", it tried to play the video like a 360 degree surround video.

Found a solution: I'm using a DAM program to store files. Importing the video into there lets me play it in the correct dimensions.

Hmm that's odd, I use Media Player Classic/VLC on my PC, give that a try and see if that works. :)

I'm having this weird thing happening when I download the video where is plays in a standard widescreen format, meaning the bottom third of the video is cut off. When I check the file properties, however, it shows the proper square video resolution. Tried looking up solutions and it turned up nothing. Any ideas where I could look for a slolution?
