Announcement - What Comes Next?

It'll take a couple of months for that to reach the public platforms, and longer still for Amazon to catch up, but here, for those of you supporting me directly, the story will be complete. It's a bittersweet feeling, finishing a series. There's so much more I could write about that world, so much more I could do with the setting, but this is always where I knew that the story would end.
Maybe one day I'll return to it, but I've been writing Fates Parallel for over four years now, and I need a break. Not from writing! Just from writing that, specifically.
In the meantime, I can finally announce what I've been cooking up in the background for the last...oh wow, two years? Well, it's been simmering on the back burner for a long time, and I'm excited to finally share My Own Best Friend, the first title in my new System Lost series.
System Lost is a LitRPG story following the adventures of Allison, a college student who wakes up in an unfamiliar place with no memories, survival skills, or worst of all—shoes. Trapped in a strange underground labyrinth by herself, Allie seems entirely doomed to an ignoble death by dehydration, starvation, or exposure until help arrives from the last place she expects—herself. Another her with different skills, knowledge, and personality, but still sharing the same body.
Like my previous work, it will explore questions of identity, self-discovery, and personal growth through the vehicle of a progression fantasy story.
I have released the first 20 chapters early as a patreon exclusive for $10+ tiers, available right now. The story won't be updating here until the official launch on serialization platforms like Royal Road and Scribble Hub, but I hope that you enjoy the story enough to stick around until (or at least return) then.
To everyone who's made it this far, thank you all so much for your support over these four years. It's honestly been a dream come true, and I hope to keep this dream going for another four years and beyond.

I hope you will! Ultimately, the premise is just another angle I can use to explore the same sort of questions of identity and character dynamics I liked to write about in Fates Parallel.

Ah, fair enough. I can understand that, even if I like them personally. I’ve never really used the tag system before, since a lot of the time I’ve found the authors don’t label things properly. I hadn’t realised that you’d already set it up like that, apologies. 🙃

It's not too much of a bother. I just find collections to be a useless piece of feature bloat that doesn't do much of anything that tags didn't already have covered. It's already done.

Oh, wow, this looks fun. I’ll miss Fate’s Parallel but it had to end sometime and this is a good place. I can’t believe that it’s been so long… I first started reading it way back before the first tournament arc in the academy, so the idea of not coming back anymore is hard to properly fathom. Actually, I think the first time I joined the Patreon was because of wanting to know what happened next during the time Yue body snatched Jia and Eui. Before the cabin part, even. Wow. Oh well, at least I can come here for another series. That said, any chance you can create a collection for it? For some reason the chapter order is all jumbled up and it’s making it a little hard to go through. Thanks for the… story? Stories? Thanks for something at least!

Ahh I will miss fates parallel, but it's been fun and I can always read it all over again...or listen to it. Still looking forward to the remaining chapters. Thank you for the hard work

To clarify, System Lost is the name of a series, while My Own Best Friend is the first volume of that series. It's all one story. No romance tags currently, nor concrete plans for romance, but I do enjoy exploring relationship dynamics, so it'll likely come up eventually. I can't say for certain what form it will take, but as of current writing all of the named characters are women, so...
