"Staking barked" -> Staking is Dutch for being on strike. Stalking should take the L and redeem herself 😁

Yeah, that would probably help. It's difficult for me to accept Mirage as being a good person with how entwined with the miserable dystopian corporations he is, but seeing things from his perspective would help understand why he does what he does and why he thinks he's a good guy at least. That said, while i believe you that you've been going for the unhealthy rivalry and i do see signs of it, that's not really how it's come across to me. I've seen someone who has limited information and means in how they approach the world so they tend to parse things from their personal perspective, but who ultimately wants people to be safe and healthy (Teddy). And another person who whatever his personal delusions are, is actively aiding and abetting the people who are ruining the world, both ruining people's lives directly and making it easier for the antithesis to kill everyone. Maybe I'm more harsh on the megacorps than your average reader, but personally unless this arc involves some significant revelations from Mirage about how shitty some of the stuff he's participated in is, my conclusion will continue to be that Teddy is right, and the world would be better off if Mirage took a long walk off a short pier, rather than it being any kind of "rivalry". If he's supposed to be a shitty person that's fine, but if the goal is for there to be a challenge to Teddy's perspective from an alternative point of view that is also reasonable, then you've missed the mark, at least for me.

I was think about doing an interlude from Mirage's PoV next. I was just talking to a couple people, and it's hard to get in his head, because he and Teddy just don't interact with each other. This is probably an ideal point to show exactly WHY the two of them don't get along. Thinking... getting drunk, and then doing a little exposition to Charlotte. I've had this idea why they have this unhealthy rivalry for awhile, and we've seen part of Teddy's side for awhile now, maybe time to give him the stage for just a tiny while.

It’s a little tough here. I understand wanting to have limits for samurai v samurai conflict, I think it makes sense. The problem I have is people other than Teddy talk about Mirage as if he’s a reasonable person who’s maybe a little self absorbed, but every single time we see him he’s being an unrelenting asshole, to the point where he’s getting lots of people killed in really preventable ways. Lots of people in these stories (both TBoB and other SCS univere stories) have been killed for much less, which makes the treatment of Mirage here feel like him getting away with irredeemable shit just because he’s a samurai. I know a corporate war is kinda the worst environment for him, it brings all of the uncomfortable parts of society that he tries to ignore or explain away to his doorstep and forces him to extremes. But if you want him to be someone who is kind of a dick but in general does the right thing, just through corporate channels(which is what most people seem to think of him), then you really need to show that. Some showing of all the stuff he normally keeps working falling apart that helped push him to the extremes (both to explain his recent behavior, and to show the actual good he does), or him coming to some kind of realization about himself/ the corps as how much of what he believes in is revealed to be a sham by how visibly ugly the corporations are when pushed into a corner would help. Alternatively, if you actually mean for him to be an irredeemable villain/idiot, then he got off way too lightly.

I really considered what to do here. Everyone, including me, wanted to see Teddy kick the crap out of Mirage, but even though I had City V City combat, I wasn't comfortable doing a samurai civil war right now... All of her friends were telling her to slow down, and not go off the deep end (to the point where Hel drugged her) so it didn't feel appropriate for her to go whole hog on him That being said, even though she's been completely drugged, Teddy wouldn't take that slight sitting down. Hence the bopping. I may change it a little later, but somewhat happy with it for now.

I would have used Bob to make an example of his corporation assets. Like we're talking destroying any Samurai grade hardware found within the facility and wrecking the facility while he is redecorating. He had no need to do any of that, except to cover his own ass and fuck around with Teddy. Mostly just to piss her off. I'm so gonna cackle when he gets smacked around again maybe by Bob.
