Oh snap, dragon time!

Owen Kasaboski

I LOVE BRICKS!

Erasmo Simo

*Gasps* Is that a JoJo reference?

Neruz

Nah, sitting on your ass and meditating in a cave for a thousand years is how normal, non-protagonist cultivators do, protagonists run into increasingly implausible lucky chances that supercharge their cultivation beyond all common sense and reason.

BlackRazaras

Thanks for the chapter

Zarik0

Cant stop to have a smile with sylver interacting with all the dumb cultivator situation in this absurd country xD

Zarik0

Totally agree with Qrystof, its one of the spotlight of the story

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Gardor

How do fog form and bear soul interact?

Qrystof

Fuck even that's a barely used trope. Only recently, with low profile xianxia stories are ppl staying away and just cultivating. Top Tier Providence, Secretly Cultivating for 1000 years is one of the better ones but it started with My Senior Brother is too Steady. Too bad MSBitS's translation quality went dog shit midway through.

Torbjørn Nilsen

You forget sitting on their ass and meditating. If you sit on your ass the hardest and longest you win. Riveting.

Qrystof

CCG is one of my favorite stories, bar none. I've even suffered through mtl to finish it multiple times. Imo, it's well worth. The right site makes it easy enough and the great writing is still evident, just from story structure alone.

Qrystof

Yeah I figured there would be an interaction but edmund being in the dragon's hands is pretty wild. I'm hoping for another long ass lifespan chat. The most unique part of this story is that Syl feels legitimately like a super old dude refinding his feet. The combat is interesting but a bit of a face roll due to his tons of experience. The most interesting part is his view point and decision making.

Neruz

Oh yeah absolutely, that's why CCG is so good; it takes the Xianxia tropes and runs absolutely wild with them, playing some straight, subverting others, and sometimes both playing the trope straight while simultaneously subverting it. The other reason it makes most Xianxia stories dull in comparison, IMO, is because the quality of writing is noticeably above average. Despite having over 1800 chapters covering about six months of in-story time, there is actually relatively little filler and meaningless repetition of prior things to pad out the word count, which makes all the other stories that abuse that stand out even more.

Neruz

Ah, of course, it hadn't occurred to me but in hindsight it seems pretty obvious that the dragon would be the one who has Edmund.

Rasual Shiro

Yeah there are a few on RR that are decent IMHO but cultivators in these stories tend to get a bit stale. That and there is only so much Uber world shattering death blow of whatever that I can deal with lol.

Qrystof

Yeah of course. But it also does a fantastic job of both subverting and aggrovating tropes. When they're called out so wildly, it makes it hard to go back to normal cultivation stories. They seem so dull in comparison.

Neruz

To be entirely fair to Cultivation Chat Group; it is very much -not- a typical Xianxia story in that regard. Even by the standards of the genre, CCG is particularly absurd.

Kennit Kenway

Yeah cultivation stories always end up in "whoever screams harder and punches harder will win," which is just boring.

Qrystof

Thank god. The cultivators were kind of interesting but there's only so much cultivator story I can take. Cultivation chat group pretty much killed my interest in the genre after I saw how ridiculous it is in most cases.
