A Conversation With Free Members

Recently (a few months ago?), Patreon introduced something called a free membership, which is somewhat of a misrepresentation. This was done for reasons passing understanding and somewhat shoddily. While they call it a membership, it really isn’t. There is no way to cater content directly to you nor to engage with you as a regular audience of backers. What a free membership does is give you access to posts that are marked “public” when we post them—which, for me, is hardly ever. Like most creators, my efforts are centered around the backers with paid membership. It would be unfair to them to deliver the same content to you, and Patreon doesn’t empower us to deliver content ONLY to you. (If they did, I’d love to share some very old content with you, but if I do so now, I’m also spamming my backers who have already received that content; like I said, shoddy implementation.)
So out of curiosity, what are your expectations from a free membership? Other than the calendar of activities and occasional news post that I deliver, is there something else you’d like to see delivered to free members? (Bearing in mind the limitations I’ve outlined above.)

About the only thing I would look for as a free member would be a notification and a link when the public website is updated.

I'm a Free Member and I would second Vralenalien; I'm mostly following for updates about what is coming out. It also helps to know when things are coming out on Gumroad, for instance. A monthly calendar is more than sufficient; Random samples would be a bonus.

I'm probably not going to do something weekly, but the monthly calendar, plus perhaps a repost of something old around the middle of the month might be enough...

It seems that the old follow account changed into this free membership. As for what I expect, nothing really since I follow or free membership like it is now, so I can easily find creators I like since patreon makes it hard in case of adult content creators when search does not work always. This way I can find them when I can subscribe. That said it helps when there are public posts telling what's happening and maybe some teasers.

Jaycee, I’m a paid member but will chime in. If you think that by offering potentially new members some older material, I wouldn’t consider it spam at all. It might be a good thing to mix it up once a week with some classic images. Whatever you decide, I’m here for it!
