Yeah I get that! I just feel like he’ll become a lot more bearable once he gets over Buffy

Xander is a complicated person. He has shown himself to be very loyal and can be very brave when necessary. He is also very lacking in confidence especially regarding relationships, maybe even more so than Willow. Because of this he sometimes responds to things badly. Sometime these traits are in conflict. In this particular instance I suspect his response to Buffy's not wanting to go to with him to the dance is a defense mechanism because inside he subconsciously feels that she rejected him because he is an unlovable person..... like I said, complicated.
