the greatest example of macklemore trying too hard to be accepted by black artists is when the heist won the grammy over good kid mad city and he texted kendrick apologizing and saying he didn’t deserve to win over him lol. you just know he was freaking the fuck out reading what everyone was saying about him winning later that night
