Developing Subscription Boxes

Monthly and maybe a 3 mini sample pack or unicorn sample pack. Wow is already in the flavor or candy art. I wouldn't go with too much merch because it'll sink cost against material and shipping weight (I was looking to do this with movie genre themed snack boxes). The collecting element should be the candy art and trying more than 1 flavor at a time, I'd think. Dunno how careful one has to be with melting, especially left outside homes in the Sunshine State. Maybe each box (or for Patreon), set up a Discord with special tier invites where people can talk about the candy they received. Otherwise I'd consider the time/energy you'd like to put into each element of what you're producing already. Best of luck!

I think a monthly model would work best depending on the price range, a higher end (more expensive) box would probably fare better quarterly. My favorite thing about subscription boxes is the theming surrounding them. Obviously for Lofty Pursuits I’d expect to see candy in every box. Despite being a California native I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Lofty Pursuits during a road trip last year and fell in love with your postcards, retro games, ice cream (though I know you can’t ship that =P), and mini museum of candy making tools. Pins are very popular right now and it would be incredible to see a set of pins based on historic candy making equipment. An included discount code for online orders of Lofty Pursuit candy would be nice to see in a subscription box. On the small scale objects like stickers, small art prints, trading cards, zines, and maybe even small candy making supplies such as a candy thermometer. On the large scale t-shirts, reproductions of candy rollers, and games would take the box to the next level. For me the WOW factor usually applies to boxes that have taken the time and energy to curate something unique, usually something I can ONLY find/purchase from that specific box.

Maybe have a few random boxes contain some type of token / gift certificate that gets them some prize when redeemed. (maybe some code they can type in to receive their prize). I like an idea of seasonal themed boxes and maybe some off season offering too (something like Christmas in July style offering). You have so much knowledge about candy, flavors, manufacturing process, history. You could include some method of relating that history of what’s in the box and why.(post card, sticker on bag, etc) Maybe create something that is only offered in the subscription box. (a certain flavor, style of candy, design, and make a YouTube video of it to promote / tease). Mystery boxes, where you pick what we get. As for frequency, you could offer different packages for a certain price (monthly, 6 times a year, quarterly or special occasions / events packages, (birthdays, anniversaries, wedding, etc) You could offer repeating gifts, where auto pay gets something sent each year for a special day.

Candy and dice? a customize-your-mix bag? More flavors of candy canes and lollipops? also, single-purchase boxes are always a good option in general... we like surprises/mystery items!

Sounds like fun, but I can't think of anything that hasn't already been suggested! They're all really good ideas.

each month one lucky patron gets a unicorn dropping :-) Personally, I'd be fine with just candy - I have enough stickers and tchokies. Maybe get a bag of one of the videos from the month, and a Damfino bag.

Candy for sure! Maybe some stickers too, or even postcards! I’d be really interested in a theme like Snigginson said. You could include a little history pamphlet or whatnot about it all too! Trinkets and small toys could be a good space filler if you are trying to hit a certain number of items. Honestly, I would get a box no matter what haha.

Stickers, Candy (obviously), maybe annual subscribers could get a shirt or something. I think they should definitely be themed with some videos. Like for example the Tiki one could come with pictures of the drinks they are based on with recipes on the back. Maybe a coupon for actual in store stuff to encourage people to drop into the physical location. Just some ideas off the top of my head. I'm no business man so I have no idea how viable any of this is but you can count on me being a subscriber.
