I'm older than Spud, I'm about the same age as Rogan. I can say for sure the early internet, say about from 1995 (when it gained a fairly wide use by companies with office employees, where every employee at the job had their own computer with internet, because it was crucial to doing the job) to about 2007-2010, the internet had much easier access to controversial info. LOL people were racist as fuck (I have a theory that that's part of what kicked off the policing of the net, shit libs saw that and freaked the fuck out) but you could find all sorts of really weird, out there info. that's just not easy to find if you use the top sites like Google, Bing, Duck Duck Go, or smaller ones whit search results based off of the big ones, with kind of one exception, which I'll mention later. Part of why things are fucked right now is that it's not just the internet being policed, but certain long standing, once highly respectable journals and magazines have gone woke. That's not just some dip shits who got out of college in the last 10 years, that's deep institutional infiltration by, basically, commies. Old respected journals like Nature, Science, even various medical journals (they're supposed to be the top of science, have become woke (marxist). This is for real and the people smarter than you or me have called it out. But after a quick search I found that there was some reasonable and credible looking info about human made vs. volcano affect on the atmosphere. I didn't go to deep but it looks like if you go by rate, say like the first 3 or 4 hours of an eruption, that rate of CO2 release is higher than say a year's worth of human caused release, but only for that first few hours of an eruption. But then it will say the long term overall amount from humans is more. For any real good argument you'd have to look at both sides of good information if you can find it and then find out who seems more credible. Exception nowadays to Google and the other lame search engines for some info not all, is Yandex the Russian search engine. They still will have the first search hits that are "main stream" or establishment, but they often will have more info that might be counter to what "THEY" want you to find on Google and the other popular search engines. Brave also sometimes has better info results. Try searching for some mildly controversial topic in Google and then do the same for Bing, DDG or Brave, then try it on Yandex. Like I said, Yandex will still have some of the same garbage that Google puts out, but it will also have hidden or controversial topic or websites higher up in your search results. That doesn't mean the hidden info, by comparison is more true or correct - a lot of times it's just some other narrative that's also full of shit but it comes from guys who like the KKK and nazis. LOL, so you still have to develop skills in trying to figure out what's real, what's fake and what is being suppressed or pushed for someone else's interests. Pardon, didn't mean to type so much.
