Also, is she suggesting here that she and her partner (likely Aya) dove without swimsuits on originally? Why?

I’m growing increasingly convinced that Chihaya’s “training” tied to an anchor was unnecessary for her. The only difference between that and a regular breathhold was that she couldn’t surface early, but that really doesn’t mean much. After all, there have been plenty of instances where she had the option to end her freedive sooner but continued regardless, sometimes even drowning because of that choice. She enjoys pushing her limits, obviously, but might there be another reason she endangers herself? Maybe she worries that Aya might not resurface due to complications during a continued dive, or something similar.
