Well in the early pages of Apnea girl vs girl we had Aya bubbles coming out of Aya when she tried to swim up with Chihaya, Eric and the archor that Chihaya was tied too.

It’s strange that as far Aya pushes herself, we’ve never seen the same hypoxia-induced behavior from her as from Chihaya (which these days is mostly just passing out with barely any bubbles being exhaled, probably as a last ditch “hibernation” effort on her part). Clearly, even with flooded lungs, the younger cousin remains fully in control, as even here she recognizes who’s kissing her and what it’s doing to her body. What happens when she IS down too long, I wonder?

The way wrote it was that Chihaya is too delirious from hypoxia to realize she's breathing water not air. They've done the air sharing so much, Aya accepted it with no resistance until it was too late. If you think of it, both girls have drowned on several occasions so I imagine their gag reflex is sort of broken.

Yeah that would be a good thing. But I feel like even if Aya would not want the “lung water” Saki would probably not mind it as much. At least if it comes from Chihaya if you know what mean ;)

Chihaya is either trying to purge her own lungs of water, or thinks (incorrectly, apparently) that she still has some air to offer after a ten minute freedive. For both cousins’ sake, and before the competition with Saki, hopefully Aya sat her down and told her that she doesn’t need the added hassle of someone else’s “lung water” after a ten minute breathhold (certainly not in the open ocean, or, for example, at 200 meters below the surface).
