That's right, hundreds of years after the earth was flooded by the upheaval caused by the Great War, it's a dark time when land doesn't exist.

Well as I have understand it from reading all the description on your post and your comments. That this setting is set several hundreds of years after the collapse of the modern society. So now this village divers for valuable stuff to trade for food. But they have had to dive deeper for each generation. So now they did dive into a battle ship at 165 meters depth. The valuable stuff that they are high density allows from ammo shells of the old battle ship. So is my understanding correct regarding this setting then?

Well..That's a matter of course. Car frames, other steel plates and steel frames are just common materials for them. However, the problem is that there is no technology and fuel to melt it.-SAVER-

Well Aluminum might not be as strong as steel or other alloys. The benefit is that it's lighter then steel and most alloys. Which is why it's used so often in our world ;)
