Seeing as how Saki’s mother is also missing, is it possible that she passed away (a.k.a. drowned) during a super deep ritual as part of her Shrine Maiden duties? But if that’s the case, why not stay with Saki and Tomokazu and try to dissuade her that way? Not to mention, at a certain point he had to have realized that Saki is at least as skilled, if not more so, than his late wife, so why not try to develop her talent safely?
