Indeed! Although I don't recall it being a specifically deliberate decision, I've noticed that Sasha has displayed this duality more than once. It's a fun thing I'll probably keep using.

I think the value structure works well too. It also actually sets up a nice conceptual dichotomy between the brightly lit figure, in all her “purity” (whatever that means), and all the goodies lurking in the shadows, seemingly ready to pounce of their own accord on the willing participant. In other words, this piece speaks nicely to the psychological duality each and every one of us contains. I mean, Sasha is attaching the collar herself, is she not?

Thanks! I was actually going to have Sasha in a black outfit originally, with more of a gray background, but this was my attempt to organize the values for a simpler and stronger approach. I really wanted to get the most contrast around Sasha's head and her collar.
