A couple seconds after introducing herself, I felt a pulse of magic ripple from Grayfia. Suddenly, every single person in the club who was staring at us decided they had something more important to do. It was hypnosis, but on a much larger scale than I had pulled off earlier.
“My king likes her privacy,” Grayfia said, glancing back at me as she gestured toward the booth.
I followed her gaze and stopped short. The woman sitting there was breathtaking. Her crimson hair seemed to shimmer even in the dim lighting, and her entire presence was almost suffocating in how powerful it felt. My instincts screamed that she was on the same level as Alucard—maybe even higher. It was impossible not to feel a little intimidated.
Grayfia stepped to the side and motioned for me to sit. I slid into the seat next to the red-haired devil, trying to maintain some semblance of calm. She turned toward me with a warm smile that made me feel both comfortable and wary at the same time.
“It’s nice to meet you, Valerie Tepes,” she said. “My name is Sylvana Lucifer. I am one of the current Maous of the Underworld.”
I smiled back, even though I could feel the weight of her words. “It’s nice to meet you as well. One of the rulers of the Devils? What did I do to get a visit from someone so high up? Is this about Regis Phenex?” I asked, a little cautiously. Ravel had promised me I wouldn’t face any trouble for taking that guy out, but I wasn’t sure if everyone in the Underworld agreed.
Sylvana shook her head slightly. “It is and it isn’t. While there may be a few devils upset that a male pureblood was slain by a half-vampire, no one would actually raise a fuss after hearing who your father is. No one wants to risk someone like him coming after them.”
“He must be pretty scary, huh?” I chuckled, trying to lighten the mood.
Sylvana chuckled softly in return. “Do you truly know what your father is capable of?”
I hesitated for a moment before admitting the truth. “Not really. I don’t think I’ve seen what the peak of power looks like in this world, but I’m pretty sure my dad is the king of monsters.”
Her smile grew, like she appreciated my honesty. “I don’t mind giving you some perspective,” she said. “Devils have a ranking system when it comes to classes and power. While it’s true that all pureblood nobles are granted the rank of high class by birth, very few actually achieve that rank properly.” She let out a small sigh, as if that fact annoyed her. “A High Class devil is someone who can destroy a small-scale city on their own, usually within an hour.”
I nodded slowly, letting the information sink in. Destroying a city in an hour? I wasn’t even close to being able to pull off something like that. “So, I guess I don’t count as High Class to the rest of the world,” I said with a shrug.
“I’m sure you’ll reach that level soon,” Sylvana said sincerely. “Above High Class is Ultimate Class. At this level, a single being is capable of single handedly causing significant damage to a large city or small country in only a couple of hours. There are very few beings of this level in the entire world despite what many factions might claim. I myself would be considered at that peak of this class, as would your father,” she explained to me and I felt a tiny shudder down my spine.
Alucard could single handedly bring down London in only a few hours? I honestly had trouble seeing how he was capable of that, he must have been hiding a lot more of his power than I'd ever seen him use at once. It was also crazy that multiple beings like this inhabited the world.
“Among the Christian Pantheon, only the four Maou, the leader of the Fallen Angels, and the two Archangels Michael and Gabriel can technically be considered Ultimate Class.” Sylvana explained to me.
I nodded and thanked Sylvana for explaining that to me. I was a bit surprised to hear that the Devils had more Ultimate Class beings than literal Heaven. If I was being honest, it was a tiny bit disturbing actually.
Grayfia placed two glasses of alcohol on the table in front of me and Sylvana. She stood off to the side as we talked.
I swirled the glass in my hand, trying to process everything Sylvana had just told me. It was interesting. “So,” I said, setting the glass down, “are you going to tell me why you tracked me down to some random club in London at two in the morning?”
“Oh, yes, that,” Sylvana said. She looked—for a moment—almost embarrassed. “My apologies if my sudden appearance startled you.
“Only a little bit,” I admitted. As I spoke, my eyes darted to the darker corners of the club. My father had to be somewhere nearby. I doubted he’d really ditched me when two powerful Devils had shown up out of nowhere. Hopefully…
Sylvana reached across the table and placed her hand over mine. Her touch was warm, and I felt a blush creeping onto my cheeks. “I’m here to ask you for your favor,” she said.
“My favor?” I didn’t pull my hand away, but I stayed cautious.
She nodded. “It’s about my little sister, Rias. She’s engaged to an insufferable man in the Underworld. I’ve been searching for ways to break the engagement for years, and I think I’ve finally found one.”
“What does this have to do with me?” I asked.
Sylvana smiled. “The man she’s engaged to is Riser Phenex. I believe you’re familiar with the Phenex family?”
“You want me to use my favor from Ravel to break the engagement,” I said, putting it all together.
“Exactly,” Sylvana said teasingly. “You’re really smart. I like that…”
I leaned back in my chair, finally pulling my hand free from hers. “And what’s in it for me?” I asked with a grin. I wasn't going to hand over such a big favor easily…
Sylvana chuckled at my grin. “I would be more than happy to pay you back however you want.” She winked at me. “I saw the way you looked at me and my queen, Grayfia. Maybe you’d like to spend a night in bed with both of us, giving you our complete and undivided attentions.”
Grayfia’s composure cracked. She flushed slightly and shot Sylvana a glare. “Really, my king…?”
The mental image made me blush fiercely, but I shook my head. I wasn’t about to waste such a big favor on a single night, no matter how tempting the offer. “That’s... tempting, but I’ll have to pass,” I said.
Sylvana pouted and tapped her chin. “I could maybe offer you a Sacred Gear in return,” she said.
“What’s a Sacred Gear?” I asked.
Sylvana straightened in her seat. “Ah, I suppose they are a closely guarded secret after what happened. Sacred Gears are objects of power that the Biblical God created. He fused them with the souls of humans or half-humans with the potential to achieve great things.”
I frowned. Fused to the soul? That sounded very familiar. “Why haven’t I heard of these before?”
“Other supernatural races grew jealous of humanity for being gifted such power,” Sylvana said. “A few decades ago, everything came to a head when one of the Dragon Emperors killed a low-ranked god. That sparked a campaign where anyone with a Sacred Gear was hunted down and exterminated. Back then, it wasn’t hard to sense people who had them.”
My pulse quickened. I thought about my three Holy Grails and now knew where they came from. “...Back then?” I asked hesitantly. “So not anymore?”
Sylvana nodded. “After all the death, Michael and Azazel worked together to modify the Biblical God’s System. Now, Sacred Gears are undetectable unless actively used. Anyone with a powerful Sacred Gear lives in hiding.”
I felt a wave of relief wash over me. I’d been careful with the Grails, but this confirmed I needed to be even more cautious until I got stronger to protect myself. I’d have to tell everyone at the mansion to keep their mouths shut—not that they didn’t already.
“If owning a Sacred Gear is that dangerous, then I’ll also have to pass,” I said, not mentioning or hinting that I already had one.
Sylvana nodded in understanding. “Fair enough. I’ll have think of something else then. Just know that whatever you ask for in return, I’ll make it worth your while,” she said with a wicked wink. “...In fact, why don’t I prove that I mean it?” she asked with a glint in her eyes.
She then turned her head to Grayfia who was standing next to our table. Grayfia and Sylvana stared at each other for a few seconds before Grayfia sighed.
“Fine…” Grayfia movedand sat in the booth, on my side.
Grayfia slid into the booth until she was sitting so close to me that we were practically touching. I blushed at the sudden contact and was about to ask Sylvana across the table what was going on when I heard Grayfia speak again in her soft voice.
"With your permission, my lady..." she said. I turned my head and quickly found Grayfia's flawless face right in front of mine. Her very soft lips were suddenly kissing me!

It was the summoning flier for her and her Queen. “You can use that to contact us, and don't worry, if I can't find anything in a few weeks, I can send Grayfia again to give you another incentive to hang onto that favor longer… I might even join in.” Sylvana said to me.
“S–Sure,” I replied with a small stutter. And with that, Sylvana and Grayfia both vanished from next to me. Teleporting away from the club.
I let out a sigh when I was finally alone. Then I quickly snatched a napkin off the table and started wiping off the seat where I was sitting before standing up and leaving the club. I wanted to be out of their before Grayfia’s mass hypnotism wore off.
“…Well now, that was interesting!” Alucard said right next to me, back on the dark empty streets.

“They weren't manipulating me!” I replied defensively but he simply cocked an eyebrow at me underneath his yellow sunglasses. “...Ok, yes they probably were, but all they wanted was that favor I got from the little Phenex girl.”
Alucard chuckled knowingly. “That woman Sylvana Gremory–or is it Lucifer now–wouldn't just visit you herself over a simple favor. Not unless she was truly desperate. She'll probably do anything for that favor. Make sure you properly know the value of what you have, daughter…”
I nodded at him. When I thought about his words, they made a lot of sense. Sylvana’s sister must be completely screwed if someone as powerful as her can't get her little sister out of something as simple as an arranged marriage. Maybe a magical contract was in play? Rowena had told me about those and warned me against ever signing one or taking a magical vow of any kind. The consequences of violating them were pretty much always death, or a fate where you wished for death at the very least.
I huffed. “...If you don't have anything else to teach me tonight, I'll be heading home now,” I told Alucard.
Instead of calling a driver, I decided to fly home and burn off some extra energy. I willed myself to turn into a swarm of bats and started flying across London back to the Hellsing mansion.

Yo WebNovel is up to ch 16 but we only get one extra chapter for Z class? Wasn’t it supposed to be 3 chapters?

Ah. That solved the Issum. Maybe it's just me, but when I read multi-part stories or even books, I get a little irked when something like this happens. I understand why it can happen, but in a published book, you can't change retroactively the earlier chapters. In this case it's the perfect solution, especially if it was already the plan for Rowena not to know about Sacred Gears.

Ah, you're right. I changed it in the first chapter. I changed it to “It’s not that you don’t have any magic, otherwise we wouldnt be talking…” Rowena wasn't supposed to know what a Sacred Gear was because they came out after she died. At least they did in this story.

I really like this story. I have just a tiny problem with this chapter, which is, that Valerie doesn't know what a sacred gear is. In the first chapter Rowena already mentioned sacred gears. Here is the Quote: “It’s not that you don’t have any magic, all Sacred Gear users are born with it…”. I mean this could be easily explained in a later chapter, as in not being really important at the moment or any other way. I mean it's just a very little thing, but with an explenation later it would make the story, at least for me, better.
