(Old) September Build, Prototype 0.3
🕑 Added 2020-09-25 19:09:17 +0000 UTCHey everyone, the new build is here! This month I wanted to tackle a few issues with the underlying systems in the game which unfortunately took a bit longer than expected. The good news is the game should behave a bit better barring any bugs that I might have missed. Also the game now saves your progress automatically and you can now continue the game where you left off. Just keep in mind that this is a preliminary implementation and will go through some changes when the game exits the prototype phase.
After working out the majority of the game breaking bugs I got around to adding two new scenes. First was the final town morning scene, where the protagonist visits the armor shop to buy new gear. I still want to add some polish to these morning scenes but that will come a bit later. Secondly, the slime surrender scene has been expanded to include Ash after he joins the party. He's not quite ready to reveal what's actually in his magic spell book but I expect it will play a larger role in the future.
Monster Souls' Patreon anniversary is coming up next month! It's hard to believe we are already nearing a year but I'm feeling very confident in the state of the game and I'm excited for what's to come. I'll try to write up a more detailed development progress report tomorrow and detail what I'm thinking for October and beyond.

Note: I include Mac and Linux versions but I cannot test or offer technical support for these versions. Keyboard Controls:
- WASD or Arrow keys to move
- Space for Jump
- Left Shift for Special Action(ie "Crouching" used with the slime form)
- Left Ctrl for Dash
- Q for character screen (Class, Equipment)
- E for item quick menu (outside battle)
- ESC for game options menu(only quit game for now)
Debug hotkeys may cause sequence breaks and game stopping bugs, use with caution. (If you don't want to play through the whole dungeon again to watch the scene with Ash, go into your bedroom and hit F2.)
- F2 (While in the dungeon) plays a secret scene with Ash
- F4 Skip scene, can skip through dialogue and scenes
- F8 (While in the dungeon) Skip to final boss (hit esc and resume to unlock after using)
Controller can be used but it might be a little buggy right now (The selection cursor may disappear, use the mouse to select something again) See the input tab when you run the game for more options.

Love this update. It's really cute to see the intro. Excited for the tavern scene and more from that rogue. Just one bug I noticed was in the slime boss fight, when the boss used the bubble attack, the bubble stayed on screen and didn't go away until I left the dungeon. Other than that I had no issues and loved the ending scene.

I didn't see this anywhere, so I just wanted to mention two quick bugs. 1) When Hero (as a slime) jumps and goes through a grate, Ash also jumps and is suspended in the air. 2) When you finish a battle and no loot is dropped, there isn't a button to exit.

Thank you for making the decision to support me and the advice as well! I'll try to keep that in mind as the project continues to grow.

Thank you very much! I will check over the equipment again to see if there are any bugs.

Hey I found your work on F95 and I got to say wow man what a good start, even with the bugs this game is mechanically great. Will be supporting as long as you are creating content. I see a lot of potential in this and whatever you make next. only advice is when this starts getting bigger remember to ignore any bullshit that people say if it isn't constructive. There's nothing you can do to stop it, don't feel guilt and pressure from the people that are toxic. Ignore them, they serve no use to you or your creation.

Great work, looking forward to that bar scene. I also thought the armor shop bit was a good start and the intro was able to remain kind of cute before the dungeon. Your models really are great too. The only thing was both the steel sword and leather boots were unequipable for me.
