No worries, that's legitimate feedback and I appreciate it. I personally don't notice the issue you mentioned but on the other hand I'm partially colour blind. I'll try to fix this issue in the future and I'll ask if others see noticeable compression on discord.

I don't want to complain and blame you all the time. I really like your work, it's just sad that the color banding issue ruins your work that much.

Of course in full size, I even download every image that I like. Sadly the imgur links are still suffering from color banding. No matter if I watch them in Chrome or the downloaded version on my PC with an image viewer. I can see the color banding on a monitor with an 8-bit TN panel and on my actual monitor with an full 10-bit VA panel. So the problem is not on my side.

Okay. A little update on the matter. I checked my original files and they are actually in fact compressed by patreon. I will update the links with the higher quality pictures. They still have some compression but are currrently my highest quality versions of the two. Did you click on it to open full size? I know it's a silly question. And also it could be compressed by patreon since this is a direct upload. Maybe they reduce quality like Facebook. Honestly I could just upload the 40mb image next time but I doubt anyone would like that. Same goes with the 1gb animation files for that matter, heh

From a PC. I don't know about Blender but in Photoshop you can adjust the PNG file size by choosing different compression strengths. On the highest setting it takes more time to save the PNG but the file size is way smaller. How long it takes so save the PNG in Photoshop depends on how much power (clock speed, cores an threads) your CPU has. This picture for example is very tiny (about 1,5 mb) for it's 4K resolution, even for a JPEG. No wonder that there are compromises when it comes to quality.

Hmm strange. It's in 4k, taken from blender and edited in Photoshop. Highest quality. I was looking up close for loss of quality since the PNG format was around 35mb per image. Are you looking at this from a pc or mobile?

Great picture, but you need to do something about the image compression. There is serious color banding visible on the sky in the background.
