b^2 is 4^2. The b does not include 'i'. In a+bi standard form, the b is separate from the i.

at 12:10 it says that the imaginary part (4i) squared, is 4x4. But we learned previously that "i" squared is "-1". You do not mention the "-1". How do we know when to use -1 for imaginary part and when not to? please advise?
