December Preview II: 1/3 Wall cuts, barrack expansion, new thatch
🕑 Added 2020-11-17 15:44:21 +0000 UTCNOTICE: Had to add post a new RC_PLUG in the download area for the new roofs, alignment was a little forward so chimney alignment was poor.
Cut Walls on Ruins Large Rooms
For December we will start to integrate a new peg stacking system based on our serrated peg design. This system will also be integrated into our next kickstarter. The idea for this comes directly from a patron, so always feel free to share any criticism or ideas. We are always looking for ways to improve. The pegs will be used with 1/4 to 1/3 wall cut system to provide the following affects.
- You will be able to see into a room without having to stand up during gaming by removing the walls.
- Better division of print times for larger rooms
- Pegs are gently tapped into place, no glue required.
- Peg channels pass completely though parts so they can be removed if they go in to far or break
- Having detached pegs will allow you to use stronger print settings for the pegs so they are durable.
Barracks Expansion
Also previewed above is an expansion for our barracks. By installing them on every side you will add around 50 inches of play area per a floor. I guess you can mirror it to double that. Pattern repetition will probably make it look bad to go past that. There are floor pieces with columns to offer floor support for the larger areas.
NOTE: This expansion is reverse engineered into the design which means you will need to keep your original corners aligned for stacking. In-other-words, I did not originally plan on making this larger so the corner pins were not designed to align anywhere.
Shacks without Dirt Walls and New Thatch
I had a request for shacks without the dirt around them. I had to put out the newest thatch anyways so it worked out. Totals on this will be 6 house bodies in 2 styles/3sizes and 3 roofs to go with each size. One roof for these shacks and 2 to use on older houses.
Playable Stairs
Lastly wanted to show that the large ruins will have stairs that are roughly 1 inch so you can play right on them.
Comments
Looking forward to the kitchen building. What would be nice would a collection of auxiliary buildings such as a shed, barn/stable, pig sty, a work shop(s), granary, etc to go with the houses. For the goblins a shelter for wolves, some smaller huts/tents, a river or swamp boat just to round out the sets.
Thanks Rob, and thanks once more for the comments last month, it was a big help:)

Great job on the new thatch! It looks perfect.
Yes, It will be next month, want to make sure this part clears . I have a stand alone exterior kitchen building about half done as well:)
Thanks, yeah I agree we finally got all the way there. Its been nice to use the community to really help develop something instead of just asking is they want a tower or a road or whatever. Looking forward to more of it:)

You've been a busy boy...was always going to take some time. Still plans for jail cell and bedroom "middle wall" pieces?
Thanks Mark! I know I've been trying to get the barracks in for a couple months now.

Really pleased with the updates to process and that new thatch. It's the best one yet.

Barracks expansion........Sensational! Love the wall cuts too.
They won't be to snug at all, the stacking is very fluid. However, if you need it tighter you can always just leave some of the lower peg exposed

YEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I love it! This will help SO MUCH at the table. Diggin the peg system. Those should make the layers quite rigid. Careful not to make them too snug. Bravo! Can't wait to get some prints going!
