I’m thrilled to announce the release of GammaOS Core Beta 2, building on the foundation of Beta 1 with even more improvements, features, and device support!
Over the past few months, I’ve been working hard to address feedback, optimize performance, and expand compatibility, all to bring you a better experience for your handheld devices. I’m incredibly excited for you to try it out!
💥 What’s New in Beta 2?
GammaOS Core Beta 2 includes everything you loved in Beta 1, plus a host of new features and improvements:
Expanded Device Support: Now compatible with the Powkiddy X55, Powkiddy RGB20 PRO, and the GKD Bubble (additional steps required).
Performance Enhancements:
Memory improvements for smoother gameplay.
Additional emulators pre-installed and ready to go.
Default Launcher Upgrade: Switched to Daijisho, pre-configured for ease of use.
Storage Access: Scoped storage restrictions have been completely relaxed for easier file access.
Mouse Emulation Improvements: Right stick and trigger buttons now simulate scrolling for a better experience.
GammaOS Tweaks Menu: Added to Settings with new toggles for:
32-bit mode
WebView enable/disable
Memory clearing options.
Swap File Optimizations: Moved to a dedicated partition for better stability.

GammaOS Core is a minimal version of Android 13 TV designed specifically for low-powered devices like the Rockchip RK3566. It’s been heavily optimized to reduce memory footprint and improve performance while introducing quality-of-life enhancements.

I seem to be having trouble getting the OS to recognize a Micro SD card loaded into the second slot on my RG353M. Is TF2 supported?

Hey there! If you've ever used Rocknix then this may happen, you'll need to unplug the battery and plug it back in for this to resolve. This is a side effect of moving between different bootloaders between Mainline and BSP systems.

I'm having some odd power-related issue on an RG353M. 1. When installing the OS, it doesn't reboot when it says it is going to during the installation process. 2. When trying to power down the console by holding the power button and then selecting shut down, it instead reboots the device.

One more issue: my RGB20SX cannot output HDMI when using this BETA2 version. The HDMI external Screen goes black. On ARKOS and ROCKNIX, the HDMI output works fine.

I loaded this on RGB10MAX3. Loaded fine. This has a lot of potential. On this device the text is super tiny. I tried upping the scaling on Daijisho and in the Android system settings and it seems even at highest it is still pretty small. Is there a solution for this? Or something that could be fixed in a future update?

How is this image written to sdcard? Neither Balena Etcher or Rufus will do it. Theres no partition data.
