The discussion about being able to speak your feelings hit so close to home. I’m Burmese, but grew up in California. When we had some people from the homeland come to visit, the first time they saw me they’re like “oh you’ve grown up to be so fat” in Burmese so nonchalantly cuz it’s just normal. And people there just don’t get offended, in fact it keeps them honest. Hahahaha!
