I got you on this nationalism conversation. Nationalism is absolutely terrible and should be abolished except only in one form. Being nationalist about a creed of freedom and acceptance of all people. When this country was founded it broke the world by denying nationalism and religion and being the first country in the world to live by a creed of acceptance and giving ownership to all citizens and not the people of the land. Which then in turn made America the most powerful, richest, successful country on earth. Every nationalist country on earth wants to see us fail because they think their people is the best. But we're made up of ALL people. Which means going to war with us over nationalization makes no sense since other countries are not fighting "americans" they are fighting a "concept of a nation" which in turn includes people of their country. The idea of "spreading freedom" can be seen as helping countries not destroy themselves with an outdated idea of nationalism / religious architecture and moving to the successful concept of integration and letting the economy grow with external influence. Every single time we've had a wave of immigrants come into America it takes 1 generation and our economy flourishes. I'm Italian and was raised catholic outside of Pittsburgh... There was a time my old man was not accepted by the polish and british folks that were here. That changed and now Italians are a integral part of the American story that results in a much more complex and fascinating culture than any place on earth. Take that same story and add sub out with every nationality on earth to every part of this country and it will apply. Eventually the EU figured it out and started opening up the world and they have prospered because of it. The countries like Iran, Russia, China, Afghanistan, North Korea have gone the other direction of being more insular and maintaining their 1000+ year old traditions that clearly don't work. How can we watch Afghanistan separate their children by gender and force them to be educated through the taliban's religious architecture by force and not let the people be educated on the world and decide for themselves. Imagine how much more successful and progressive Afghanistan would be if they would let go of this archaic architecture and embraced diversity of thought. How much the rest of the world would benefit from their findings and shared influence of culture. Also, you can thank the internet for all of this. Not in a thousand of years would I be able to talk to a gun in Turkey playing a game about Erdogan and about how he said something but in reality everyone in the village really thinks it's nonsense. And we all learn communicating to each other around the world, which is something your goofy haired mustache ass should know as a world traveling comedian... We're all pretty much the same and want the same thing. We all have a lot more in common than we have differences. And if we're going to structure our civilization it should probably match something positive like we're more in common than something negative like "stay out, you're not part of my nation, you'll never understand". Now as to what happens to the culture of the nation, it becomes something unique worth celebrating but not something that is used to exclude. Go to a German beer hall. Visit a temple. Experience a rain dance. Let the people continue their customs the way they wish but not if they intrude on anyone's ability to be free or feel like they pledged an allegiance to a nation. You can ask a devout Muslim how they manage their religion in a nation that requires a strict separation of church and state whether they would rather live in another country. Long story short. No, Nationalism is not good. Being nationalist about a nation that accepts and supports all people that pledge an allegiance to that nation is good. Cause anyone can come here you just have shed the baggage of 1000+ years of tradition and you get to get with hot ass women from other countries, stack bread, and do whatever you want without persecution. But that's just this dumb libtards way of seeing the world. Huge fan of the pod for a long ass time. Keep killing it nerds.

There were tons of topics that made me feel something through this episode. 1. Drugs man, idk how yall do molly. My 1st and only experience with it completely depleted my serotonin the days after that I almost killed myself. At that time in my life I was really going through it. I was 23 at the time and (another topic touched on) I started really feeling the effects of watching my mother get beat by her boyfriend and my father overdosing heavy at that time.i was coming to grips with becoming a man and still not knowing where I am in life. I was doing Drugs, drinking everyday. It was bad. What you brought up at Dax Sheppard resonated with me because my parents split when I was 3 and it really does do that to you. To this day I don't necessarily feel threatened by other men, but when someone just makes a comment who idk even if they're playing around. I almost feel standoffish. But this sorry does have a happy ending me and my girlfriend celebrated our two year anniversary yesterday. She's everything I could want. She grounds me. I love her and our boy just turned 1 today. And those moments come fast. I can't believe it's already been a year. I am so in love with my life now. I reflected alot on those moments I felt defeated when I was in the thick of it with Drugs. And it came full circle hearing about everything. Idk if the guys read these. But thank you.
