I’ve realized people treat me with more respect when I tell them my name is an American version of my name (Rush). If it’s Indian, they associate me with being Indian rather than me just being me. If it’s generic, the name doesn’t carry any baggage so in their minds, my character is in the forefront rather than what my name sounds like.
