Regarding andrews nature vs nurture discussion …cross cultural comparisons of any given behavior offer one way to decipher whether said behavior is biological or societal. Behaviors that are universal - common in most if not all cultures - speak to the biological component of the behavior. For example, incest is a universal taboo. Across all cultures, incest is unacceptable and therefore likely biologically rooted. Likely because incest can lead to biological defects and such defects work against chances of survival. Therefore we are naturally compelled to avoid this behavior. Other behaviors are not universal. Marrying for love is not universal but rather a feature of western culture that is actually counterintuitive to survival. Marriage in many other cultures is determined by the economic viability of the partnership which will ensure greater chance of survival. Just food for thought.
