[Blog] Small Update

- General Exhaustion
- Jaw Discomfort/Pain/Headaches (I still haven't followed up with a doctor).
- Bed Bugs, threw out my sleeping cot (I assume I got it from recently evicted neighbors).
- Leaking Water from my Ceiling / Walls (since February, our maintenance dept. sucks).
- Patreon has restricted my ability to receive payouts (likely temporary, I'm working on it).
I feel really bad that I'm behind on work and not able to work as hard as I once could.
Recent News of Note:
Cohost (social media blogging platform) recently announced its closure. They could not afford to keep the severs running, which is unsurprising as it was entirely user-funded and was not offering a lot of universal value for its users. Still, unfortunate, and that's one less tool in our utility belt.
Alex Ahad (original 'Skullgirls'" artist) was recently banned from Patreon without warning. Trust & Safety cited the usual reasons concerning dubious consent. While it's easy to get rid of a smaller artist, going after one of your highest earners like that does not inspire me with confidence.
Zelda II Enhanced: Link is Adventuresome (PC remake of Zelda 2) by Hoverbat updated and has a new feature allowing custom player skins for Link. It might be fun to try designing a Female Link sprite to be used in the future.
Lamentations:
Sometimes it feels like one bad thing is happening after another and it's become hard to believe things will ever get better. Perhaps this is just what getting old is like, but our economic environs aren't helping either.
Tensions with Patreon continue to worry me; maybe I should work in a way that's less reliant on it and its formula. But I feel trapped because I've relied on Patreon for years (and still do) for most of my income. Considering this career is also heavily entrenched in pleasing consumers (that's you), deviations from user expectations pose a great risk; any change may risk a huge loss in support.
I'm a little behind on work, so it's been quiet lately. But hopefully that massive batch of uploads at the start of the month makes up for it.
I feel like I should stream more often...

It sucks that the future is very uncertain for artists like yourself. I really can't imagine living a life like that and I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place with my photography and food service jobs right now. I can only continue to hope and pray that you'll be able to make it out of this, Brell. You're too talented and creative to let the world drag you down. π£ππ

Shit, sorry to hear about some of those other problems (bed bugs can be a real pain to get rid of entirely, heat kills them as does something like ditenacious earth which may be good to look into if you have pets as it's nontoxic, it corrodes the bugs' exoskeletons.) I do hope things get better and you manage to find an alternate solution to patreon at some point. I can't imagine the stress over that helping anything else. I'd say stream if you enjoy it, it's important to make sure you take care of your mental and emotional health as much as your physical. I'll do everything in my power to keep supporting you, you're a kick-ass artist and you deserve it, even if life seems insistent on keeping you from the greatness you deserve.
