I definitely agree that the flows on this album are not the best but I still think it's not as bad as most ppl think, I only can repeatedly listen to about 5 songs from it and the rest I skip but I probs have a bias cos me n the family got the cd at release and listened to it all the time lol, I actually listen to more songs from this than from kamikaze , I'm surprised you hated in your head so much lol the chorus definitely carries it for me cos I love the original song that's sampled for it

I know I’m a bit late, but relapse, and especially recovery were hated when they came out. Relapse made sense for em, but recovery, he put his heart and soul in that album and people just bashed it. Which is one of the reasons why he’s gotten insecure musically.

You said during chloroceptic that Em was making fun of SoundCloud rappers. And that's right. This album is like a mirror of rap and our society/politics in that time. The album is about an Older Em fitting in with "today's" rap. So he takes a lot of the most popular flows at that time and ads his spin to it. While trying to actually give a "Message" This album is why people started saying he was "an old guy yelling in the wind" But it's really rebounds back after this album

Album gets too much hate, there are some songs with little replay value but some of my favorite em songs in the last 10 years are on this album, walk on water is beautiful idc what anyone says, believe is crazy underrated, river is great, bad husband is great, and castle and arose are amazing, it gets weighed down my the ehh songs so much that those are slept on

Castle and Arose are 10/10 for sure. But I think you pretty much got what we all got when we first heard the album too. I think the worst thing about the album is how many awkward and stilted flows there were. Its hard to know what even went wrong overall here externally. I think maybe he was having some sort midlife crisis. It felt like he completly lost his confidence in his ability and it shows all throughout the project. In the intervening time between MMLP2 and this he was releasing songs/verses that were filled with stuff like that. I think something happened where he kinda forgot how to make good songs. With some exceptions. Maybe Revival needed to happen for him to bounce back as hard as he did. Luckily its all up hill from here thank god lol. Kamikaze is a crazy bounce back and the following albums are even better.

TDOSS is the best produced album of Eminem by far and his verses are friggin insane, but nothing beats Eminem on MMLP in my honest opinion. His flows and verses there are just something else. Still, TDOSS is so good. Without spoiling anything; the whole theme of that album is incredible (not sure if theme is the right word here)
