Lily was wearing embroidered and tight-fitting thin leggings with a baggy long-sleeved shirt tugged into her pants that while seemed casual, managed to accentuate her lithe figure and graceful features.
"Still, something like a dress would've done me nicely here," She paused. "After all, a woman's beauty is a limited thing, and one should capitalize on it while one can."
"I don't doubt for a second that you wouldn't look ravishing in a dress and I would love to see you in one, but this is more than doing it for me," I smiled, genuinely meaning what I said.
"A real silk tongue you've got there," She smirked.
"Hardly," I chuckled, walking over and pulling out a chair.
Pushing it in as she sat down, I made my way over to the other side and sat myself down. With a little bit of idle chatter, the food being served by some of the new cooks I've brought home, they were sent away for me and Lily to enjoy the rest of the evening.
"This wine is fantastic, this from Ebongrave?" She asked, swirling the glass with a light red liquid in it. "It's like nothing I've ever tasted, I doubt even the royal stores have anything this good."
"Yes, a personal gift from Lord Nosferas," I said, sipping the glass.
A blissful and disbelieving expression briefly touched her face.
"Not in a millennium, would I have guessed myself to be sitting over and eating dinner with a monster that I've essentially sworn my life to, who is now even courting me," She sighed.
"Do you regret it?" I asked, eyeing her over my glass.
"Not in the slightest," She smiled back. "It was frightening at first, despite what I otherwise let on,"
She paused. "But now...?"
She looked me deep in my eyes with those azure blue ones of hers.
"I've never felt freer; the world at my fingertips,"
"Huh," She chuckled after a short silence.
"What is it?" I asked with a slight smirk at her bewildered face.
"All of this," She gestured to the table, finished plates, and the canopy around us. "If I hadn't known better, I would've thought you human in disguise. To think a monster took me out to be courted with dinner and pleasant company."
I... didn't respond.
I wanted to, to simply laugh it off with her, but somehow couldn't get myself to.
Realizing that I had fallen silent, Lily looked back at me. But as I didn't meet her eyes, the tension in the air only grew tighter.
"Xavier...?" She hesitated, the cogs in her head whirring.
Only sparing her a glance from the corner of my eye, her eyes widened.
"Saints above..." She muttered in disbelief. "How's that possible, but you're not an enlightened..?"
Now it was my turn to be confused.
"What do you mean by that?" I asked, realizing that Lily was all too quick to accept the fact that I had once been human; that it was even feasible in the first place.
"I-I've heard about those blessed and reincarnated from lands afar, b-but..." She trailed off.
"But never have I heard about any return as monsters," She finished.
Now it was my turn to fall back into my seat.

Of course, I had considered the possibility. Hell, I had even expected it. But having my suspicions finally being affirmed was something different entirely.
"We're you originally of this world or another?" Lily suddenly asked, now much more composed than just previous.
Her words brought me out of my wandering thoughts.
"They can also come from this world itself?" I asked, surprised.
"Yes," She answered. "Although I do not know much about the blessed other than passing tales and rumors from other countries and lands, so much I do at least."
"Be it elves reborn as dwarves, or simply humans being reborn as humans once again, there is usually always one common denominator between all those who are brought back or transferred by those being above. And that is that there always enlightened, never monster." She explained.
"At least, never that I've ever heard off," She added. "The blessed are individuals that all enlightened in fact pride themselves in as its seen that it's as a sign that the beings above favor the enlightened by giving them powerful tools and warriors to quell the hordes of beasts and monsters."
"I see," I muttered, rubbing my face exhaustingly.
"Does Mia know?" She asked. "Does anyone else know?"
"Just Mia, but, you know her," I chuckled. "She lives in the present, and when I told her about me her she didn't even bat an eye. Such things don't matter to her. I am, and always will be Xavier to her. What I was in the past matters not, only what I am now."
Lily couldn't help but let out a chuckle herself, a bit of the tension in her shoulders dissipating with it.
"That sure does sound like Mia," She said.
Silence fell on the night as the sounds of critters from the jungle nearby chirped and chittered.
"So... another world huh?" Lily broke the silence first.
"Yup..." I answered simply.
"I knew it was odd with how human you acted all this time as if you were not a wild monster just a couple of months ago," She said with a smile, poking my leg playfully under the table.
"Yeah," I chuckled, taking a swig of the wine that had briefly been forgotten.
"Why would you reveal such a big secret to me?" She asked after a brief pause. "You realize, the consequences of this if word got out could be catastrophic. And even if you didn't know all of the things I have just said, you could at least guess the outfall of such a thing if it were to be found out by those much stronger than us."
"I trust you," I answered without missing a beat, not really realizing before now how much I actually meant that.
She just stared at me, scrutinizing my face for any dishonesty.
"Lily, there's something I've been needing to talk with you about," I said suddenly before she could speak.
"Ever since you abandoned your old life and joined my motley band of monsters, we've been playing each other's games, and I've really enjoyed it," I paused. "But now, I won't skirt around the thing on both our minds."
She didn't say anything, just looking at me with bated breath.
"I intend to pursue you. I want you to be mine," I said without a shred of hesitation. "But, if you were to truly to be mine, that would mean sharing me with another woman and possibly more."
"I know - I know. You have no idea how insistent Mia has been on having me join you as your woman," She chuckled mirthfully. "And I must say, some of her... promises and tellings have been quite compelling."

Raising an intrigued brow, I gave her a devilish smile.
