Defining Duke, Episode 157 | This Changes Everything... - New Xbox Generation In 2026?!

Insomniac was hacked, Bobby Kotick left Activision, and a new rumor surrounding Xbox's next console generation all managed to slip out in the two weeks we were gone. Naturally, we tackle all of this, but the Dukes really wanted to lean into the proposed 2026 gameplan for Xbox. Striking ahead of PlayStation, this would leave them in a similar position to the Xbox 360 vs PS3. Does Xbox need to hit the reset button so soon after finally getting their legs going in 2023? Would an Xbox fanbase buy into such a product so soon after the Series X launch cycle? Is Xbox's messaging airtight enough to avoid a Wii U scenario? There are many ways this can go and Xbox in 2024 is surrounded with a lot of firepower between their own first party, Activision, and Bethesda where they could make some noise as soon as they'd like. We also get into the 2024 roadmap for Starfield, the rumors of Banjo returning, some updates on Blade, and plenty more!

I have to be honest! As a PS fan we need Xbox to put pressure on. It creates a better industry, i think Microsoft taking a gamble with a early start to a gen can be just what they need. Also as a side note, if MS doesn’t get its shit together with fallout I’m gonna lose my mind. We need fallout 4 next gen, fallout 3/New Vegas remaster, new fallout from obsidian, new 2d fallout from in exile. Fallout fans need love

Info #140 current global top seller (last 2 weeks) behind games like Spiderman, fallout 5, battlefield V, far cry 5, TLOU Part 1, horizon, cyberpunk, Rim world? Did you know No Man's Sky was in Steam Platinums 2016 too? Also Cyberpunk was #1 Steam Platinum and both were dog water on launch. Says alot out is weak gamers and pre ordering most anticipated games. ⛽🔦

Great episode, but comparing Blade to 500 x-men characters is a bit ridiculous. Also, now all of those characters and spiderman are locked to 1 developer most likely. It's like when star wars locked to EA. We used to get so many spiderman and x-men games now we will have 3 in the next 12 years.

I don’t think it would really matter as we’ve seen Microsoft is a software company so them having three different SKUs isn’t really a problem because they are already are dealing with it ..They’ve already got three different SKUs between the platform, Xbox series S and X, as well as the PC.

I appreciate and respect you both, but I think the elimination of DDU is going to be better for the main show, as I often found content redundant throughout the weeks. If possible I want to encourage you to have interviews of any kind on your podcast big or small. You could take an iron lord approach for some of them where you actually kind of do the show with them as a guest
