Damn...are Dagan and I related lol. When you named the list of some of the true greats and of hip-hop, it was one right after the other, of people and groups that I kept mentioning throughout that whole discussion. Then again we are of similar vintage, even if I am a handful of years younger than you. I didn't think I'd get anything out of that last topic, but I was wrong haha. I already knew you were into some of the artists I was into, but I didn't realize it was THAT close lol. I agree with Colin too on the rap-rock genre and ESPECIALLY the truthfulness of the lyrics in most songs. Well said.

Lou & Rei Loper

Shout out to Dagan for mentioning MF Doom, RIP to one of the absolute greatest. That other 'beef' shit I could care less about, just seems like a nice way to make some money. Maybe I'm just old though, who knows... Also shout out to Colin for mentioning "Can't go to sleep". I have listened to that song on repeat so many times, it's just, wow

Alex

I don't know if Dagan will check back on this Constellation post this late, but I do have some honest advice that you could do alongside your meditation. You mention that you often listen to NPR and political commentary on the radio. You can massively reduce your stress and anxiety if you just completely cut that content out of your life. Shows like NPR consistently produce content that is all about doom and gloom and in many cases they aren't telling you the reality of the situation. That program and others like it are specifically made to cause anxiety for the listener. It will work.

Ryan Zimm

Gotta agree with you. I would literally have nothing intelligent to say. I know of sports, but I can't talk about them. It is no different than asking a nongamer about videogames....what do you expect them to say? Like, in the actual moment, it can be difficult. Given time to think of a response, of course you can come up with something.

Steve Ballmer

I have to admit that I don’t follow sports and would be flummoxed if someone asked me about them. Am I supposed to say something like “No, I’m not into sports but how about them Bills?”?

Ryan Zimm

I really don't see what you guys are talking about with Reddit. Most the people there are fans. Sure they nitpick, but most of them are just joking around. Although, they do seem to be going hard on Cog lately. I haven't really paid attention to that nonsense, though

Tanner Denso

It’s his worst album.

Tanner Denso

Bode, our family dog (cavachon) we have called him El Chapo since he was a puppy because he was always escaping his puppy gates. We once filmed it because we just couldn’t believe how elusive he was, but that’s about as deep as it goes.

Tanner Denso

Kendrick’s first album was the only great one in my opinion. I don’t give a shit about drake at all. I like Kendrick more, but he definitely peaked with his mixtapes pre album debut.

Tanner Denso

You have me dying laughing in the first 30 minutes on this one.

tobin_asai999

Kendrick Lamar is definitely a genius musician who transcends hip-hop. To compare him to Drake is simply ridiculous. But of course a one-sided ass kicking of a rap beef is finally what seems to be getting him his recognition. To Pimp A Butterfly was Downbeat's (the quintessential jazz publication) album of the year. DAMN. won a Pulitzer for Christ's sake lol. Ironically, good kid m.a.a.d city is probably what Colin would see as the most diluted of his releases. It's essentially a coming of age fable set within Compton - but it's also revolutionary because he raps through different personas, the ego, the protagonists' conscious and dreams, etc. . I'd be interested to hear Ramon's take. But don't sleep on the man - he's incredible.

Tyler

Y’all gotta understand, meditation is a PRACTICE. It may take a long time to get to be able to do 20 mins at a time. You start with a few minutes until you get to a point where you can go further. Col, he’s like your weight lifting. You don’t just start at 50lb dumb bells.

Have you considered considering considerations considerately considerate

I haven’t heard that goat joke since middle school!

Caleb Peacock

Dagan buried Dustin low key with that kingdom hearts lead in lmao.

Jordan Falduto

Drag-an lore unlocked

NeO JD

Rush getting into Hamas when he meant Hummus was wild. 🤣

NeO JD

Damn dude.

Avery

Colin I really do believe you would enjoy Logic & J Cole from what you've said, you appreciate rap that's not just about violence and drugs etc

Marcus Brown

Honestly any Kdot album will do, they're all masterpieces. DAMN. is my personal favorite.

NinjaDC

Unrelated to this constellation, but I wanted to thank Dagan for recommending Liar Princess and the Blind Prince. I had it added to my back catalog after you recommended it, and I got around to it as a break game midway through rebirth. After an hour in I decided I'm platinuming this absolutely gem.

Yo what

Jordan Avery

So surprised Eminem was not mentioned by Dustin just based on his age and the time he started getting into the genre, but it was a great topic

Saint947

Can someone use AI to give us a Micah’s “Tee-hee-hee”-less version of these podcasts? It’s the same synapse as vocal fry, and I can’t stand it. And, of course, since she never laughs in earnest in the show, it’s “tee hee”, phonetically, *every* time.

Yiorgos

It was the opposite for me, first time I skipped a topic on a Stelly

Yiorgos

What did Colin mean when he said that he won't what happened to Colin's Last Stand happen to Last Stand Media?

Lawrence B

I would totally buy a Dagan illustrated kids picture book style book of The Adventures of Rush and Treble

Heezy

Shoutout to Colin’s “do I have aids” zinger

Matt H

Wish the Kendrick/Drake discussion was a bit more in-depth! Dustin, next time you’re on a show with Gene I’d love for you to pick this up again!

Tim Leibfritz

Uh.. Someone needs to tell Dagan what street meat means.

Jayce Tamulevich

You guys are 100% correct on the Reddit. I had to leave it because I just got sick of all the LSM shit talk.

Ben Scott

If anyone ever asks me to tell them a joke, my go to is, "What do Dale Earnhardt and Pink Floyd have in common? Their last big hit was The Wall."

Zac

Colin: "This family feud host killed himself" Micah: "Oh yeah! HEHEHEHHEHEHEHEHHE" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Michael Mashpotato

In regards to the Reddit post, my money is on Rush with the drinking problem.

Dan Morgan

The Saudis own a premier league team, worth reading about and how they’re now a big part of English football

Michael Mashpotato

My dogs are good for two emergency visits a year. We have VPI pet insurance. We have to pay up front and then get reimbursed. I pay 94 a month and the wife pays 85 for the other dog. Right now my 9 year old mini Aussie has to have a tooth removed and a lipoma removed. Estimated to be almost 5k 😭.

Jack Doheny

Pimp a Butterfly is one of the most important albums of the 2010s. Everyone should listen to it

Rio_Yeti_

That Rush lore literally had me crying with laughter. I've done the same with my pets as well and admire anyone else with that kind of creativity and humor. Lilymo needs to make a game about Rush and Treble's fantasy escapades.

John

Came to say this also. Not only does drake write for himself, but he’s written for other artists too

John

Came here to say this also. I figured the same thing, that Colin was looking for Drake to be listed, probably doesn’t know he real name is Aubrey graham

Casey Cieslikowski

N M NBC. My by

ajwhite

I'd love to see Brad on that, getting absolutely traumatized

Breno Bezerra Bluhm

This comment here is both for Colin that thinks rap is just too one dimensional and Dagan who thinks modern rap won’t age well but if you guys could listen to one of Kendrick’s albums from start to finish I think both of you would change opinions. I would definitely recommend “To Pimp a Butterfly” a masterpiece for the ages that mixed jazz with rap in ways that were never done before while also making some of the most deep social commentary we could ever see in not only rap but any form of music.

Colin Moriarty

Clearing my mind scares me. I always have this feeling that if I stop thinking at night I am gonna wake up in the morning and not know my name or what to do.

Rage Against the Last Stand

Guys that dog story had me belly laughing. That could be the next family guy

Derek Alcott

I'd love for Dagan to watch Bithead1000 on YouTube. He is a gamer from Long Island and goes on rants. Kind of a Al Bundy way and complaining about his old lady while talking about retro consoles.

Diddy’s Dong Quest

No disrespect to Col but that music/rap opinion just sounds like one from somebody who has already made up their minds not to try much or any modern stuff. Listen to Good Kid Mad City and look at the lyrics! It only takes an hour and it’s amazing.

Adam Barnes

Fuck sake Micah… that pelican joke fucked me up 😂😂

Pretendo

I need a Rush adventure game in the style of that little kitty big city game lol

Mr sand man give me your cream The largest penis that Ive ever seen please paint my lips like the white cliffs of dover and fuck

Dagan, listen to the track 'Ayo - Coast Contra' They speak to you in particular in the first verse.

Mr sand man give me your cream The largest penis that Ive ever seen please paint my lips like the white cliffs of dover and fuck

Loved this episode. As a young guy (21) who loves old head rap, timing, rhyming, crazy ass schemes. I recommend you all check out Coast Contra, a phenomenal rap group. Very Tribe, Wu vibe but with far more advanced rhyme schemes. Harry Mack is an off top freestyler who takes audience words and spins 6 minute tracks on the fly. Both are stunning artists, keeping lyrical rap alive in my book.

Bogey

The Heart part 6 is legit trash, but Dustin you didn’t like Family Matters and Push Ups at all? Drake rapped his fucking ass off on those two tracks. Especially Family Matters. I think it had some of the best bars out of all the diss tracks released, even though I agree Kendrick clearly won.

Bogey

Colin, Drake is listed as a writer for Hotline Bling. It’s listed under his actual name which is Aubrey Graham

Joe

Drake is listed as Aubrey Graham, his real name, in song credits. And he writes his rap records, we don’t care if he gets help on pop and R&B songs, his level of output is insane and wouldn’t be possible by one man.

Bogey

As someone who’s been on the other end of the “So do you like sports?” I honestly wouldn’t know how to answer that besides “no not really”. I mean what do I say? No I like video games? I honestly don’t know.

Colin Moriarty

LSMxSnark Tank episode

Regarding meditation, I would encourage Dagan and the gang to look into mindfulness rather than Transcendental Meditation®. There is less of a barrier to entry because you determine the amount of time you meditate. Beginners often start at 5 minutes and work their way up. It also focuses less on completely clearing the mind with mantras, techniques, and chants. Instead, it teaches you to not fixate on anxieties or stressors. You are welcome to acknowledge the thought and stressor, but let it drift away as you focus back on your breathing. Sorry for the sales pitch, but I just found mindfulness worked better for me when I started looking into it like Dagan. Good luck.

SalXCIV

It’s actually a real thing with dogs. My dad claims his dog is a world renowned guard dog. Has won many awards in different countries, states, and counties LMAO

Lovat

Our household has lore for our springer spaniel as a raging communist activist type. Who talks a big game about seizing the means of production, but never follows through.

Philip Flood

As a huge hiphophead this beef and rap conversation was really painful to listen to. Hearing Colin talking about modern rap is like hearing tipper gore talking about rock music in the 80s. Insanely myopic and uninformed....especially when he used it as a jumping board to big up the most unsophisticated and dumbed down off shoot of rap in the grenre's history lol (rap rock)

GameSimp

The Rush lore is priceless

Trent Miller

I think my favorite part of constellation has become Dagan's intros.

Eric

My partner and I do the same thing with our dog. He has quite the extensive and convoluted lore at this point. My patreon picture is him post lobotomy.

king_ryan_james

I’ll be rooting for the Canes because I played lacrosse with Brady Skjei in Middle School. Both from Lakeville, MN. He actually played up a grade because he was that good of an athlete.

Markeus

Kendrick is the opposite of everything Colin thinks new hip hop is. Meaning I understand some topics being same old same old , but Kendrick is different . He can skip everyone else

Jorge Ledesma

As a Steinbeck head I appreciate the grapes of wrath correction
