Constellation, Episode 73 | Family Resemblances, Playoff Sports Passions, Loyalty Programs, The Coolest Brand Names
🕑 Added 2024-05-27 16:00:19 +0000 UTCWelcome back to Constellation, Last Stand Media's conversational podcast!
This week's panel offers up a thought-provoking batch of topics for discussion.
Micah has been thinking about family resemblances, and she'd like the rest of the gang to share their thoughts and experiences on the topic.Which of our family members do we look like most, and which physical characteristics are we grateful for inheriting? On the other hand, which cherished genetic attributes do we feel we missed out on, and how did our children fare in the resemblance department? Next, Ben wants to talk about loyalty programs. Are we inclined to take advantage of the common corporate promise of saving money in exchange for being faithful to a specific brand or retail outfit? In our experiences, which companies offer the best monetary incentives for shopping with them, and which don't inspire much loyalty at the end of the day. Batting third, Matty shares his deep passion for post-season sports. Are we crazed and rabid fans during the playoffs, especially when our favorite teams are in the mix? How do we handle the emotional roller coaster of winning and losing with the cities and the teams that we love the most? Finally, Dagan wants to share his obsession with awesome brand names. Do we recognize when a product, company or brand has an amazing moniker? What about next level game, book and movie titles? Simply put, which stuff has the coolest and most creative names?

“Putting a pin in it” is a reference to putting something off until later but not forgetting it. The etymology comes from pinning a note in a cork board so that it’s on the to do chart.

As a Pittsburgh Penguins fan, I have enjoyed the NHL playoffs more this year than previous years when they actually made the playoffs. Just watching some good hockey games without any anxiety for my team winning/losing

Cowboys and Mets fan ehh. Interesting combo. You see a bunch of Cowboys fans in NY but they are normally Yankee fans too.

RIP in peace to Matty’s Rangers

By Daegan’s logic of his brother in law being attracted to him since he looks like his sister, and if Daegan’s kids look like his wife, whom Daegan is attracted to…

Shout out to the grocery store gas station. At Wies I redeem my points for 60 cents off per gallon of gas.

Good song names from I Hate Myself: This Isn’t the Tenka-Ichi-Budokai, Secret Lovers At the Heaven’s Gate Ranch and Caught in a Flood With the Captain of the Cheerleading Squad

As a Yankee fan, I’ve also been to Fenway twice and don’t really need to ever go again. Being heckled the entire time regardless of what’s going on kind of ruins the entire experience no matter what.

You guys sound so old talking about Apple Pay. 😅

Besides the gas and grocery loyalty programs I share with family, the two I use most is for Regal Cinemas and Choice Hotels. Regal besides the regular rewards offers half off popcorn on Tue for members. That plus Tue discount ticket prices has got my but in a theater seat a lot in recent years. Choice Hotels is because I've been doing a lot of travel, and it behooves me to earn some points for free rooms.

Referring to the potentially cute babies of ugly parents as “bangers” is certainly a choice.

Oh my God I can't believe Ben shouted out Dance Gavin Dance and referenced a song off of Acceptance Speech!! They're my absolute favorite band! Go Ben!

My grandpa on my moms side lost his hair young. I think age 20… but my brother and I are in our 30s and we both have super think long hair. I’m keeping it long in case it ever starts to go so and I have to start shaving it one day. At least I can say I had it one day.

the fact colin wasn't on this with the sports topic is absolutely insane

2nd Constellation in a row without Colin. So bummed.
Luke Douglas
It was brief but happened at 5:25

Maybe I'm crazy but did Matty get introduced? I'm only like 15 minutes and that didn't happen yet. It was just confusing at first being an audio listener. The intros really help for audio-only

Tying off the extra finger to cut off blood circulation, letting it die and fall off is a perfectly acceptable way to remove them. That’s how we do lamb marking on the farm. Works just fine 😎

He Is Legend! You kept up on em?

Hilarious how one topic is about playoff sports and the thumbnail is the Colorado Rockies ballpark?! 😂

This is a record. Is it five or four episodes in a row with Micah as a guest as well.
Connor
How are you gonna do a sports topic without Colin??
Jordan Falduto
On every show

It is absolutely criminal that Colin was not part of this (hockey) playoff conversation.
