My possible hot take is I think the GameCube controller is a bottom tier controller. It's fine for certain games but it would be utter trash for games like Elden Ring, FF7Rebirth, God of War Ragnarok, or any shooter.

If I was you I would look at some other reviews before you count this game out. I think it's way better than what Gene said. And he left out a lot of the positives.

Playing Wu Kong right now and it’s beautiful, really good game so far, but it has its feet in 2 action genres. It wants to be a traditional, fast paced action game, but still have some of the Soulslike trappings that bog it down. Black Myth would have been far better off picking one style to embrace instead of trying to do both, in my opinion the former option.
