Constellation, Episode 74 | Online Algorithms, Trump's Guilty Verdict, Rose-Tinted Nostalgia, Greatest Compliments
🕑 Added 2024-06-03 16:00:20 +0000 UTCWelcome back to another episode of Constellation! This week, Lockmort gets things rolling with a discussion about Online Algorithms. What are the pros and cons to the patterns we create while shopping, searching and watching content on our computers and phones? Next, Gene wants to talk about Donald Trump's guilty verdict. Now that the polarizing presidential candidate has been found guilty on all counts in his hush money case, what do we think this could mean for the United States and the world ahead of the 2024 election? Next up, David Jaffe returns to steer the conversation away from current affairs and straight towards nostalgia. Specifically, are we too quick to remember the past with rose-tinted glasses? Were the periods of time that we reflect on so fondly really that wonderful, or was it just our specific perspectives and circumstances during those years that encourage us to reminisce? And for this week's final topic, Dagan asks his cronies to remember the greatest compliments that they ever received. What are some of the nicest things that people have said to us, and which words of praise do we remember most?

Nick Scarpino and Kevin are great guys, fuck the rest of them specially tim, but after everything Colin did for Greg when he was getting his cancer treatment, it was a very shitty thing Greg did. I am glad to see Colin rising above them, but I do miss the podcasts and to see Nick and Kevin interacting with Colin, well we have Lock and Gene now, the true GOATS! 😁 Its amazing how the IQ drops when they talk about politics… specially on Jeffe, btw, why all leftists wants to regulate the internet content?
Peter Thompson
I maintain that Gene should be the new face of Dod Equis
Gabriel Baker
I miss him hosting, he’s just a natural at steering conversations

Yet Colin still calls himself a conservative LMAO. I have never heard Colin say anything remotely conservative in the past 5 years. He’s a “California conservative”, which is just a progressive.

Trump 2024! The only sane choice

everyone is mad about politics when this is the REAL thing to be upset about
Gooch Gobbler
"farmers" like the 10 mega companies that own 99% of the market? Yeah the giant companies are probably informed of what would protect their monopolistic and exploitative goals
Gooch Gobbler
One thing I never see people about is how much more land Biden has protected. Say what you want about dems but they always do something to help the environment in office. I'm not talking about something contentious as global warming. Just protecting land. Most republicans, especially Trump, REMOVE these protections. I don't see why this is a partisan issue

Lets see... A political episode that features 3 Progressives and a European (you're awesome Lock, but it's not expected of you to know much about American politics). Very sensible, fair, balanced, and without confirmation bias. What a shock! There is never true informed pushback from anyone whenever these topics come up on Last Stand. If only there was someone brought on who could provide a legitimate opposition. And no, I do not think Colin would be sufficient. It's always the same.
Bailey Callis
Imagine if a little girl grew up in a male strip club. So awful tbh.
Bailey Callis
This is the first time I haven't missed Colin at all. Goat lineup. Wish Lock spoke up more tho!
Teddy Bear Syrup
Great group but Colin still makes this show better. How many weeks in a row has it been now? Went from one here and there to full stop leaving the show pretty quick
Diddy’s Dong Quest
Finally finished this episode. Probably my favorite combination ever on constellation. Love how lock just started smoking a cig inside 🤣
Yiorgos
He can be an attack on the ears. He has an opinion on everything. Oh look he hired a prostitute once...so cool. Just gets annoying.
JR
Its on jaffes channel, last time Colin was in gabbin games. You can find it on YouTube.
Johnny Lamotte
I actually don’t get why jaf is getting so much flack on this episode of all episodes lol even tho I don’t agree with most of his politics he was pretty fair in this episode and made some good points. The tension on both sides is getting out of hand. 😪 and I think both sides have blame for this.
Markeus
Jaf, all gene is saying is he doesn’t get turned on randomly. King of his domain
Quinn Zielonko
Just gotta say this might be the best episode of Constellation ever. I laughed, teared up… what an awesome grouping of personalities. Loved it!!

Anyone know what episode of what show Jaffe was talking about where Colin gets called woke?

“If you like that… you should see me take a shit” -Dagan to some bar floozy

Great episode btw, loved the political discussion but holy shit this comment section is a wild mess.

Political subject - Check, Jaffe - Check, a lot of comments -check. LFG!

Something to consider on the Trump trial: paying the hush money wasn’t illegal. It’s simply an NDA, which is common. What was illegal was falsifying business records to hide it. And what made it a felony was the connection to campaign finance laws in New York. It’s kinda annoying that people miss that, especially with Gene, since he works at WP. I know it sounds technical and wonky, but I think the difference matters. The thing that’s truly morally wrong about it is the thing that isn’t illegal (betraying your wife, having an affair with a porn star and having her sign an NDA). The falsifying business records to the tune of $130k at his net worth is something that I don’t think people actually have issues with. Like, that’s the equivalent of me not mentioning making $13 on my taxes by selling something at a garage sale.
Joshua Adams
I don't usually comment but for the best compliment section. Everyone had a cool answer but lockmorts brought a tear or two to my eye. That was the most genuine and heartbreaking thing I've heard in a while. Thank you for sharing, that is the power of a true compliment and well deserved for being a great son.

What an episode!
NeO JD
Legendary ep fellas. Dagan, Gene, and Jaffe are a magical trio. Lock, you were ok too. 😄
NeO JD
I’d like to imagine Gene would just randomly show up in a Yakuza project as himself someday. 😅
Dan P
I see, thank you for elaborating. I understand what you're saying. I will mull on the dichotemy you're laying out between conservatives thinking simply and liberals thinking more in a gradient. This seems to be true I think, but I will have to consider what it means more broadly. As for education, based on what you're saying; therefore, isn't it an issue that universities are producing a homogenous left leaning crop of depressed people. If that's the result of this institution, then it's failing. From the outside, it appears that gone are the days of Universities imparting bipartisen wisdom, they just seem like Leftist indoctrination factories. Until this is not the case, the argument that more "education" will fix us, is a dubious axiom at best.
NeO JD
Everybody always brings up Greg, but I gotta see Colin with Nick and Kevin again.
David Jaffe
You are wrong. I said there are numerous studies that show conservatives are happier than liberals/democrats. And one of the reasons cited for this is that conservatives view the world - at large, not every one of them, of course-through more conservative lens (duh :)....but in this case it meant they didn't entertain as many shades of grey as their counterpoints. They are ok going, 'This is just simply right!' and 'This is just simply wrong!',etc. And in that, they are free - in the cases it applies- from the depression that comes from there always being another shoe to drop. This is the studies, and while I can't proclaim to think like a conservative, it seems to track (at least more than it does with dems...does it not?) As for education, what I said was reflecting these recurring stats: https://www.insidehighered.com/news/2016/04/27/study-finds-those-graduate-education-are-far-more-liberal-peers In a nut shell, people who graduate college and then even go on to study beyond that consistently lean liberal. And as I said to Lockmort, this does NOT mean conservatives are dumb and there is a difference between having more information/more education and being smart (and vice versa). I never said conservatives were on the whole less smart. I don't think there's any evidence of that. But there is evidence that the more education you have, the more you tend to vote liberal AND the more unhappy you tend to be (compared to folks on the right). There's also an argument that could be made that more education can be a great thing but until we evolve as humans at a brain level, the less rosy view of life (accurate or not) that comes with knowing a fuck ton of stuff is not necessarily a good thing (for individuals or us as a society) as it makes a lot of people unhappy.
David Jaffe
Dude! That is nuts! I felt the same way about you!!!! :)
Dan P
Yeah it allowed Jaffe to say rude and condescending things about conservatives without any push back.
PluuusRyan
Guys, appreciate the Trump conversation. While I understand people missing Colin on these topics, and myself appreciate his perspective as a foil for my own in many instances, I think his absence allowed some other POVs to breathe well in this case.
Shawn
I noticed that as well! Jaffe really tried to let people talk it was cool to see him trying with that.
Conor Rafter
Fantastic episode! Props to Dagan in particular — it can’t have been easy running the show with such big personalities on the panel. Gene, Jaffe, and Lock are a great trio.
Scott LaFontaine
Great episode. Gene and Jaffe are easily one of the best Last Stand combinations
BadHairDayCaveman
Jaffe, Dagan, Gene is a great trio for a pod… give us more
Diddy’s Dong Quest
Best episode in a while. Say what you want, but I don’t remember seeing the comments fill up like this so fast. I love Jaffe so much because I find myself nodding in agreement at one moment, and then thirty seconds later shaking my head lol. Major props to Jaffe too because I feel like he did a lot less interrupting this episode. Still could use a little less, but MAJOR improvement. I see the effort. PS can Jaffe and Gene get high again for summer games fest and stream it 😂
Benjamin Nadeau
Also the bs about ivermectin being a horse dewormer. A Nobel Prize winning medicine that is on WHO most essential medicines. It was being used to cure cancer before the "pandemic."
AngelOfCake
There's something about Jaffe that drives me up the wall but the more I listen to him the more I like him. He's unabashedly who he is, wears it on his sleeve and doesn't compromise. Can't help but like him more the more I listen to him. The social media talk was interesting. Everyone is in a bubble, seeing only what's tailored to them but are convinced that oppositional media is everywhere, trying to tear them down and then meltdown when a counter narrative enters their bubble. It's an oddity that I don't have the writing skills to convey but would love to hear someone with a good grasp on it talk more about it.
Remington Wilson
You can’t make this up. Jaffe talking about Trump telling people to drink bleach…..and now an article comes out today the Anthony Fauci suppressed the fact the Hydroxychloroquine was effective when treating Covid.
David Jaffe
That’s not accurate. Trump has been convicted but not sentenced.
Ethan Barcelos
*Goes to the comments to see if anybody has something funny to say about the Kinda Funny tangent* Oh....oh God.....
Fat Lee Adama
I'm not sure that people are uniformed Jaffe. You cant tell me that local businessmen and farmers in rural America that put food on YOUR table are uniformed. They would rather have Trumps policy's that help them stay in business. They are well informed they just disagree with you. I'm not sure what you think they need to know to inform them.
Michael
No one is a convicted anything until sentencing. Jaffe talking out of his ass. 3000 dead American troops in Iraq = no problem. Epstein and his powerful clientele raping kids = no problem. Obama killing a US citizen = no problem. Trump is guilty though.
Jimmer
This is the 3rd Constellation in a row he skipped.
Mr Worry
Even a Canuck knows that trial was a joke.
Yiorgos
I don't see anything as to what you're describing. There's people that think differently, what exactly is hateful here?
Max Davis
Hearing ideas outside your bubble can definitely be harmful
Jordan Falduto
Reading these comments make me so sad to call this community home... so close minded and hateful. Just gotta remind myself it's the vocal minority... right?
Aaron
Delusional thoughts from fantasy island lol
Yiorgos
Yep, it's weaponizing the Justice system. Disturbing and concerning, they fear Trump so much.
Yiorgos
Still voting for Trump, this whole thing is a farce. P.s. can we please get Colin back on Stelly? I don't mean to be rude and I don't mind having others on the show but I do like Colin on Stelly, especially with a political topic. Can we at least get a rotation going where Colin is on 2 Stellys a month at least?
Nuuuw
Jaffe and gene LETS GOOOO
DeucesBruh
Really would have loved conversation about the nature of the charges. Misdemeanors that were elevated to felonies because they were in “furtherance of another crime”. A crime that the prosecution did not have to reveal till closing, in which they revealed the crime was a federal election charge that was investigated and NOT TAKEN UP by the federal DOJ. State prosecution of a federal crime that was never even taken. Insanely novel legal theory especially while aimed at a former president is bad for the country
Josh McKinney
No thanks, hahahaha
Casey Cieslikowski
Also I like Jaffe just hate his political views. That doesn’t make him a bad person thought. That’s just silly.
Casey Cieslikowski
The second I saw Trump trial and Jaffe it was a huge pass.
Bogey
This was a fantastic episode guys. Everybody brought their A game.
Jordan Moyer
It’s funny, I did not like Jaffe the first time he was on here, but I’ve really come around to him. This was a great panel.
Heretic The Intergalactic Prophet
Gene Park grew up in a strip club just like my boy Ichiban.
Caleb Peacock
Ok guys put down the tiki torches
Bogey
“Fucking Asian Forest Gump over here” Lmao that’s good shit Jaffe
Stuart Osborne
Or just don’t commit crimes and you won’t end up a convicted felon?
JR
BTW what business is it of yours what people do in the bedroom, or to their bodies. If it doesn't harm you then it's none of your business...that goes for everything.
JR
All this Jaffe hate is clearly trans hate, and those who call him a horrible human being should look in the mirror.
Whiskeywhiskey
Since jaffe is in here I want to say on his topic. That most conservatives are also educated, with college degrees. The reason conservatives are happier than liberals, tends to be that they believe in a higher power, or are associated with some sort of religion. Of course they know what’s going on politically but most people in that camp feel that this life is temporary, so the nuances that come from it are only short term.
GaminGoob
hands down one of the funniest LSM episodes of all time. great line-up.
Matthew Hopkins
I think there a lot of people on both sides who are sick and tired of the fighting and hate Jaffe. It’s a choice we have to make individually to not call people racists, communists, snowflake, uneducated, etc. Hopefully the majority of people can make it to that point
Jeff in NOLA
He was desperately needed for the political topic. He’s the only one that even comes close to offering a reasoned, opposing take with any knowledge as a support and can explain matters from both sides
Joshua Hinderscheid
Sucks to see all that feedback ignored. Especially when awhile back Colin said on an episode that people wanted him off Constellation and told the audience "to keep that feedback coming we'll write me off in no time". And the opposite happened. I guess they only saw that feedback and didn't see the abundance of feedback that I saw asking him to stay on. I am genuinely flabbergasted.
CUMSoftware
Hey uh can we just have a little more money in our pockets, maybe a little less crime and not have our kids go to school and be taught to be gay? Maybe some math instead? “Uh no.”
Zac
Bruh idk who is running the "covered topics" list but LSM is the #1 nostalgia podcast network on the planet I can't believe that wasn't on the list lmao y'all had to have covered every permeatation of "nostalgia" known to man and 5 species of dolphin at this point 🤣
David Jaffe
I really was not. I meant what I said: there is a difference between having lack of info and being dumb. In fact, Lock is the one who said they were the same. I don’t agree- it’s a shame that having the time to learn and read is s privilege. but a lack of info doesn’t make you dumb, just ignorant.
Noah Trujillo
I love the chaos Jaffe brings. Locke is also quickly becoming one of my favorites.
Whiskeywhiskey
I’m pretty center politically but hearing jaffe cope is a real put off.
Otacon_Ocelot
Jaffee I hate Trump to but I agree with Lockmort you were calling those people dumb. Thats exactly what you said and you squirmed out of owning up to it. Not everyone has kids trans bro. Only a select few of yall do & pretend the world is inside out to accommodate them.
Kevin Miller
TrUmP iS a RussIAn SpY!!!!!. That's what he probably thinks
Colin Moriarty
In this thread: People reminding me why I hate talking about politics.
iain mcmanus
Trump threatened putin directly and that’s why he didn’t go into ukriane during his term. Jaffe once again misinformed
Chris Van Buren
This trial should scare every American to their core, but it won’t, and that’s even more scary. Left or right, impeachments and the justice system should not be weaponized.
iain mcmanus
Robert deniro has no argument. Trump has been president before and it was the best presidency in the last 30 years. We have his track record versus bidens and the world was in a better shape with him in office. Do leftists just totally ignore that we know what a trump presidency looks like?
David Jaffe
But...he IS a convicted felon.
David Jaffe
How come?
David Jaffe
I didn't say that was the thing he was convicted for. But it WAS one of the many examples used in the case to show he lied about his records and when this this particular example was brought up, the defense tried to explain the REASON he did it was to protect his family (which would have made sense in 2006 or so; but 10 years later, weeks before the elections is...odd). But yes- would love to discuss with Colin at some point.
Kevin Miller
Sympathizer of everything bad
Kevin Miller
Jaffe is a horrible human being. Sorry but it's true
Kevin Miller
Hahaha
iain mcmanus
Having a trump topic without Colin to provide balance and having jaffe in here to mindlessly call trump a convicted felon will be terrible to listen to. I’ll give it a chance but I have some serious trepidation
Jack Brook
Trump being seen as cool for cheating on his wife with a pornstar and then paying for her silence? Absolutely wild take, just imagine it were your father or even just a good friend. 99% of reasonable adults would think less of them if not disown them, and for good reason. Kinda baffles me that this needed to be said.
MayorGarbageMan
Jaffe thinking Trump paying hush money was the felony is pretty comedic. I vote a reissue of this topic with Colin and jaffe together because... Wow that was a rough listen.
Joe B
I get Colins busy but I would take him on Constellation every week over a Sacred+ episode. Reason I dropped off KF content was because GOG show was my favorite podcast and Colin was a massive reason for that. When he left, the GOG shows quality dropped.
Righteous1373

Dagan, the consummate animation professional with a real job out here not knowing who Todd Howard is. Edit: nuke this comment section from orbit Dustin.

Getting Nick on a podcast may be possible. I love nick
Markeus
Im still a kindafunny fan too. I just followed Colin over when he left.
David Jaffe
I'm a simple guy..if I see Jaffe in the description I go, 'Oh shit- I forgot I recorded that! FUN!'
I ate George Washington's ill-fitting dentures
I'm a simple guy.. if I see Jaffe in the description. I play it.
Brenden
I’m a simple guy.. if I see jaffee in the description. I skip it.
Definitely Stephanie
I think it'd be funnier if its biden who does it
Cole Kinghorn
I think I'd rather kill myself than listen to Jaffe's legal analysis.
Colin Moriarty
Our politics has been endlessly entertaining. The one and only thing left that I want to see is for Trump to call Biden gay during the debate.
StewDog
Might be one of the most bizarre blunt rotations yet
Dustin
So convicted Felon is what you look for in a candidate?
GameSimp
The best combination in constellation history. An actual gang of comic, chaotic criminals come to steal our laughter. They secretly lead an LSM insurrection on the side, but we will ignore it for now. Ladies and germs, it’s the all-star cast led by David Jaffe.
Ben Haner
I missed Jaffe, hope he’s at the live show
Brandon V
Trump verdict actually got me to register to vote. Gotta support the homie now
Stray_Bullets
Jaffe returns. I’m listening to a Constellation again. I’ve skipped them for weeks now lol.
Dio Lixzon
Insane lineup lol the energy is cursed
Zack Apuzzo
Awesome topics wish Colin could be in this though

Can't wait for that one topic. 🍿
