Tri Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Odyssey is OUT NOW!
🕑 Added 2024-12-12 23:12:34 +0000 UTCHello All,
I hope you're well.
Today is an exciting day for us at Lillymo Games, as we've finally released our sixth title (and our first since 2022), Tri Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Odyssey. Tri Breaker is the direct sequel to our 2020 offering Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure, and is loosely (and I mean loosely) based on Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast... or, at the very least, the cast from the show is the cast of the games! It's a tale of sci-fi, time travel, and friendship, all in the trappings of something you would have played (and hopefully loved) on NES or SNES.
I don't want to over-sell too much, but we're really proud of Tri Breaker. In many ways -- some overt and some less obvious -- it's is a major step-up for our team, not only in comparison to the original Breaker we made, but compared to the rest of our games, full-stop. It's a truly dynamic, constantly-changing 8/16-bit inspired romp that's unlike anything we've ever crafted. And as we're highly unlikely to ever revisit this nascent franchise of ours again, it's probably unlike anything we'll make in the future, too.
If you have the time, money, and inclination, we hope you'll support our new game. It's $10, and it's available virtually anywhere you get your games: PSN (PS4 + PS5), Xbox (X|SX + XBO), Nintendo (Switch), and PC (Steam).
Before I make an unusually silent exit, I wanted to answer a few commonly-asked questions relating to the project, as I'm sure some of you will be inquiring about some or all of the following...
For starters, many of you want to know about physical copies. The answer is: We'd like to do a run, but we have no concrete plans yet, and if we execute on making it a reality, it'll likely be a mid-to-late 2025 thing at the very earliest. We have actually been sitting on another physical game for a while, now, and we'll be ready to release that to the public in Q1 '25. Once that's out of the way, we can really begin to figure out how we want to approach a potential Tri Breaker physical release, as well as some other physical games we've yet to do. (Keep in mind that if we do do this, it'll be PS5-only, as indie Xbox publishing is difficult and with a small potential market, and Nintendo requires too many copies per Switch run, far exceeding what we think we could sell.)
Secondly, I'm sure many of you will ask about our mysterious J-inspired RPG. It's coming along slowly-but-surely, and I'm actually surprised by how consistently disciplined I've been about not spoiling any of it! But needless to say, the game is very real, it's far along in development, and it simply needs quite a bit more time before it's ready to show. It's a complex project for a studio our size -- perhaps as big as everything we've done so far combined, in many respects -- and it's going to be a while, still. As usual, I am dumping all of my earnings from Lillymo right back into the next game (I've not drawn any sort of money from the company since 2020, at which point I earned a small profit from Twin Breaker), and we need to release at least one more game before the RPG just to see it through to the finish line (otherwise, we're going to run out of development funds). I tell you all of this to say: Our next game (Game Seven) is coming out in 2025, and it isn't the RPG. Please set your expectations accordingly. Game Eight may be the RPG, but that remains to be seen. For a team our size, selling the amount of games we sell, and with very little room to maneuver, we really do need to take things a release at a time. If anything, I told you about the RPG way too soon, and that's totally my fault.
Finally, Barry (Lillymo's founder, majority owner, and the person who programs and designs virtually everything we release) and I will be sitting down early in '25 with the team of freelancers (artists, musicians, etc.) that helped us make Tri Breaker a reality. It'll all be recorded for an episode of Sacred+, and so while I have a lot to say about the game, its development, and my aspirations for the future of our studio, I'm going to leave my expanded thoughts for that conversation.
Okay, that's about it. Thank you for your time and attention, and for those that support our game, please know that we appreciate you.
See you in the spaces between. -Colin

Purchased day 1 to support Lillymo, even though I knew I wouldn't have the opportunity to play it for some time. A habit I've happily picked up from Colin, to support the creators of the games I want to continue. I really enjoyed Habroxia 2 and Super Perils of Baking and it's a good reminder for me to pickup Twin Breaker and play it before I play Tri Breaker

Woaaah imma start saying that every time I beat a game now

Grabbed Tri Breaker over the weekend and I’m glad I did, it’s an excellent evolution of Twin Breakers.

Just finished the game. A good challenge, even on normal.

Beat level 40 on hard

Can you tell me how to get the secret ending?

Doing the mission in level 40 is harder than consort Radahn. Unnecessarily difficult and utterly frustrating. Left a nasty taste in my mouth.

Platinum for PS4 version done. Loved level 1-39. Please remove level 40. Thank you.

Colin, this game is really damn good, and I don't think you did it enough justice on SS, perhaps its because you played it so much (and between other games) behind the scenes that you just forgot about all the improvements and how it compares to its predecessor over time? Having replayed Twin Breakers recently and going into Tri Breakers - there's so many cool new design choices overall and the new types of maps add a lot more variety and are better, MUCH more fun, alternatives to the old 4 paddle maps. All I will say is 80 S Ranks for the PS5 version... FUCK! Please tell me you only put this in so Tri Breaker could be a long-term PS Portal slog for people like you & I.

I found it much worse than the first. The controls are completely obnoxious. Introducing the fuel effect made the game much worse. Seems like you added a design mechanic just to do it despite it handling very poorly. The Pac-Man levels were especially infuriating. Didn’t even bother completing level 40 because it’s purposely extremely difficult. Why even bother having a timer if the openings on the bot are timed every 15 seconds or so? Then having 0 control over where the ball goes once you actually get past the bot? And it’s instant death if you hit the wall after you just got past this annoying bot? Just not inviting to the player at all. I think the ideas were interesting but poorly designed. Didn’t have much fun because it was just very frustrating. I didn’t feel a sense of accomplishment getting past the levels, I felt relief it was over.

bought it, played the first 10 levels. Best game you’ve put out so far by a mile

I love how it says "long-time PlayStation personality Colin Moriarty" on PSN but its changed to "gaming personality" on Nintendo's store. I wonder if Lilymo was forced to make that changed? Will purchase ASAP :)

I was shocked at the growth that happened between games. I was not expecting Habroxia 2 to be a twin stick shooter. Took a minute to get used to it, but I love how it's almost a reimagining of the 1st game.

Love Habroxia 1-2.
