Joseph Klos

Kris Bruns

Only those are truly strong, can be truly kind.

Matthew Flowers

50/50 he will lapse but not as fully. His father will be judge him

Matthew Flowers

I gotta feeling he’s not going to be clamoring for favors after this talk with his Father

Void Herald

Ahalmez is also the fear of control/manipulation, not humiliation; that falls under abuse and thus Ahaltocob ;) otherwise excellent write-up!

Void Herald

Last house's name is the Hot House (as per the official houses of Xibalba in the Popol Vuh); hence why Iztac notices a change in temperature when he enters it.

Joseph Klos

In chapter 71 the last trial, you didn't named the last house of terror/trial house. You named all the fears and their domains, and all houses but the 6th. What is it? Or does it even have a name? By the way, here's the list I compiled of each house and their fears; The House of Gloom Fear of Death, Hun-Came Fear of the Unknown, Vucub-Came The Rattling House Fear of Nature, Chamiabac Fear of Humans, Chamiaholom The House of Jaguars Fear of Disease, Xiquiripat Fear of Predation, Cuchumaquic The House of Bats Fear of being Buried, Ahalpuh Fear of Starvation, Ahalgana The House of Razors Fear of Humilation, Ahalmez Fear of Abuse, Ahaltocob (not named proper in the story besides one of the six houses of trials) Fear of Falling, Xic Fear of Loneliness, Patan

I wasn't really a fan of Itzili before now, he always felt to me like the token normal guy,a sentimentally connecting Itzac to humanity, but not someone I really enjoyed seeing interaction with, his actions this chapter kind of changed my mind, like other people said, he walked the balance between holding his son and wife accountable without being annoyingly judgemental, to be honest, I wasn't really sure he would put his leg down on anything Ictaca did beyond saying no, I kind of imagined he would shrug all her crimes and see only the best in her, to see him telling her to change was great.

Yuval Roth

That seems like a good prediction, and would be a fitting symbol for the change Iztac is trying to take (namely stopping to enjoy the pain he inflicts).

I love Iztil in this chapter well done, I already want next weeks chapter

Dylan Alexander

Of course he will, in the type of environment he is in, what with the nightlords controlling everything, it’s almost a certainty.

Jay

Great chapter at first I was like yeaaaa iztac become a demon emperor make that giant bird pay but then itzili got to me as well and quickly changed to oooooh maybe you’re going a little too far

Nicholas

Altough Iztac was warned to treat Tlaloc with nothing but reverence by many reputable and authoritative sources, when has he ever heeded sensible advice? As the last chapter showed, and the arc before that, Iztac has a tendency to defy the divine and now has a title to show for it. My guess is that Iztac will talk Tlaloc into ceasing his endless fury. However, unlike the last chapter he won't boast and posture (that would only incense Tlaloc more) instead he would take a page from his father's book and show compassion. That coupled with his gift from Tlaloc's second wife will expose the God for what he really is, a deeply wounded creature much like Azcatlapalli, which may promptly see him living up to his former title as a water god by bawling his eyes out and cleansing his underworld of all it's firey pain. Poetic really.

Itzili giving reality checks like they're candy. Awesome character and a truly good man in a world corrupted by selfishness and evil.

Void Herald

Oh, we're nowhere finished with Ichtaca ;)

Void Herald

Ah, I keep making that mistake! Corrected, thanks. But yeah, Itzili is the angel on his family's shoulder, kind but not weak ;)

mhaj58

I have to say I am very impressed with Itzili. Being a caring father is not easy and to see the difference between holding your son accountable and judging him is very hard to recognize. I wonder if this is the end of Ichtacas part of the story. She may run away and hide from the world yet again, but now she might motivated to actually do something for her family. I bet Iztac will relapse in his cruel streak yet again when he wakes up.

CentaureHeart

A good reality check for Iztac

Yuval Roth

Tlaloc doesn't take demands well, he was warned explicitly to just give Tlaloc gifts and hope for the best.

Matthew Flowers

Ooooo will he strike a bargain or will he make a demand?

Orm

save that wrench -> wench news on my sie -> side The elder Itzili's always a treat to read. One of your most wholesome characters despite existing as a disembodied skull. Forgiving Ichtaca for what she did to him personally while still pushing her to change, having known his likely fate the whole time, bouncing back from absorption into the embodiment of fear fast enough to therapize his family, while already contemplating sacrificing himself again... he truly is too good for this world.
