This is what I think too

Erin I

Just checked through previous chapters, and I have a theory. I think that the Overlord class does not pass down to the slayer of the overlord, it passes down to whoever has slain the overlord the most. (Which would mean that the list of Balzams deaths during the wings of dragon lord arc could have been intentional in a way- could he have engineered who he died to so it would pass on to a specific person? Considering Simon appears to somewhat consistently become either the Paladin or possessed by a zodiac fiend, presumably the Minotaur, did Balzam intentionally die to Simon enough times to stack the deck and ensure Overlord went to Simon? Which makes you wonder: if Mardok had 6 reigns and it passed to Gargauth, how many times did he die to Gargauth, or did he intentionally pass on? And the same for Gargauth and Balzam. Is there a mechanism of fate going on here?

To be fair blowing up a monster den is a much more reasonable action than most of his targets so far

Antony444

Louis truly believes in bombarding everyone and burning his enemies to death, doesn't he? The War Party is truly indeed the warmongering beast its opponents have always proclaimed. Though I think that this time, the intervention of Lore, Valne, plus the rest of the free nations is going to be a massive problem for them...they were winning against Euphemia's forces, but not so quickly enough that they can push to Frightwall and end the civil war here and there.

Alrighty, edited ;)

Erik

The Overlord and his Witch companion taking to the air on a undead steed being described as a mad donkey climbing up a mountain is something you just don't get in other fictions.

CentaureHeart

Finding these eleven archmages is going to be a pain

Noah

Thanks for the chapter! I will say, it took me a few reads through to understand that the phantom steed in the beginning was still in the shape of a horse, maybe changing “frightful walking corpse” to “walking equine corpse” or something of the like could help. Or perhaps this was just me and it was legible enough to most to not need a change, great chapter either way!

Charlie

I think it's mostly just this one commenter who likes to make a particular joke about Frea quite regularly, and then otherwise she's the most prominent of the elf companions of Alphonse, the paladin, and she seems to know Belzamine from before she was enslaved.

Charlie

That's a great point. Could definitely be a set up to steal a paladin perk, to help with the later elf infiltration (or even for befriending Alphonse in a future reign)

Myrdin

Maybe the paladin has a perk that would make the overlord class undetectable for that dark creature sensing. In the past Simon was detected by the dryad, and Alphonse could have also sensed him. Without it, Simon won’t be able to infiltrate the temple of light and the elves. I wonder how he they are going to deal with Frea. She is too strong for Simon to defeat.

vVip3rzzz

Im curious to see the exact “rate” at which people use “non magical” weapons. I think the big divide on how useful that perk will be is dependant on if base class weapons are classified as “non magical” or not. IMO I imagine they are magical weapons but I no a definitely see the perk working to the effect of only enchanted weapons being able to harm Simon. If that’s the case he should quickly become immune to all martial class users of a lower level.

SirSteveX

I'm not remembering who Freya is, or why people are excited for her. Some help?

alejandrox

You're a good detective!!! And I also see potential in you as a follower of Euphemia!!!! Come with me!!! Join the cult of the divine Euphemia!!!

A Reader

HOW DARE YOU! Is Frea DYING for SIMON somehow not romantic???!!!! I honestly don’t know what more you people could possibly want smh.

Diego Urbina

He probably can, but its going to be very very painful on Simon's part imo. Just using the templar crestone caused him heavy discomfort. The Merchant crestone didnt like him, so the Noble classes are more sentient.

Lizy Flore

I think it’s more of a “we don’t have any better solution right now”. Like you said he’s pressed on several fronts, and does not have the manpower, time or energy to deal with whatever is happening in the dark wood. It seemed to me it was more a on-the-spur decision and hoping it would be enough to deal with it.

Lizy Flore

Just as Simon begins to feel the EX reward lessening, another source present itself… x) poor alphonse… and I guess dear frea would be the descendant required ? (Not to provoke the cult, but I fear she’ll be more like a sacrifice and less like a partner this reign)

alejandrox

Thanks for the chapter!!! Hey, look!!! Here comes the Turkey of Experience, all on its own, into Simon's hands!!!

Void Herald

Edited, thanks :)

Sly Bayesian Fox

Okay, so I feel like Louis's retaliation against the forest was a very stupid move. Their scouts died despite including Lv40+ members, so they don't know what's in the forest but it got probably high level monsters since it shut down the operation almost immediately. What if the forest's boss took that airship strike as a challenge and went to war? You'd open a front INSIDE your own territory. Thankfully he's currently winning the war, but taking that risk just for value signalling is beyond irrational. I guess Louis is just that much of a warmonger.

Flufflez

Thou art a heretic! Frea has blighted your mind, and you will rue thy blasphemous comments! Vouivre x Simon ftw!

Flufflez

Edit suggestion: "Or was it merely a large monster local farmers mistook for a monster?" You might want to replace the 2nd "monster" with "dragon". Also, TFTC and story!

Sly Bayesian Fox

don't worry, the next sacrifice will break him at least a bit. He likes our little EXP turkey quite a lot, after all.

Void Herald

Destroyed the extra destruction, thanks :)

George R

Great chapter

Jasus

He has grown numb at killing people in rituals. He does no longer even blink at finding and killing sacrifices.

Publius Decius Mus

Edit suggestion: > They unleashed destruction for an entire night in a blind orgy of destruction that could be observed all the way from Whispermire. One too many destruction in this sentence.

Void Herald

Les chapitres de Hundred Reigns me prennent moins de temps à écrire que les chapitres de B&C donc je peux les poster le soir plutôt que le matin :)

James

I don't know if the Overlord and the paladin can ever become friends. simon needs a multi decade reign to change the vibe of the overlord. And the paladins are likely to try and kill him before that, can't be the good guy if you kill the paragon of goodness. Even then there a high chance that won't work seeing as the overlord creststone wasn't made by the elves so might not work the same. And it still has the 13th zodiac fiend built into it. For the overlord to reward acts of good something crazy would have to happen. (I trust void will make it interesting either way)

Antoine De l'Epine

Tftc. Question rapide par contre : pk t'upload à 22h42? 😭 Ça fait un peu tard pour nous autres lecteurs français mdr

Publius Decius Mus

Yay! Frea is coming to visit Simon! Their reunion might not be the happiest for now, but I am sure Simon will come around. Any reign now. Vouivre and Euphemia cultists are misguided fools, by the way.

MaliMi

Perhaps Frea could be sacrificed?

Samven

Frea might know the truth of de Dark wood and who sealed it originally. I don't see him getting around fighting Alphonse anyways.

Black Rose

Tftc

Pride

So Frea’s definitely the sacrifice right? Plus Simon still has a Devour Crestone slot. Paladin perk? Assuming of course that he could even get Paladin levels considering how much their classes hate each other.
