Next Hundred Reigns Poll: Return to Frightwall?
🕑 Added 2025-12-15 14:14:50 +0000 UTCHeya everyone,
As warned in last chapter, no update today so we'll meet on Tuesday for the next one (I'll also try to align chapter production with RR, so Hundred Reigns will eventually update on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, with Board & Conquest being posted on Saturday).
In the meantime, since we'll be entering the last third or so of the current arc, I'm now presenting you a poll for the reign after this one. All of them involve a return to Frightwall or the empire cast due to story reasons, but I'll let you be the judge of what comes next. As usual, the poll will close when I post the last Season of the Minotaur chapter.
1) The Elf Conspiracy: having personally witnessed the web of lies and intrigue the Oracle wove, Simon decides to uncover it all. Infiltrating their clan through a skillful betrothal to Elaine Malphas and feigning sympathy for the empire’s enemies, Simon will soon show the elves that no amount of foresight can trump the master of time...
Contains: Fully uncovering the elven conspiracy in Endymion, new allies and options for future reigns, intel on who killed Balzam Magnos, a new mentor.
Length: Short (a few months)
2) Mask of the Jester King: Having seen the devastating civil war that will unfold between the War and Church party without an Overlord to rein them in, Simon hits upon a genius plan: impersonate his own father, with none knowing the switch has taken place, and try to prepare the empire for the disaster he knows is coming. His efforts are doomed, of course, but this may be the occasion to find out who dug his father’s grave… and how to get along with his family.
Contains: Intel on who killed Balzam Magnos, a lot of black comedy, a happy and well-fed Gourmand, Magnos 'family bonding.'
Length: Short (a month of madness)
3) The Church of the Stars: requiring Astrology and Chronomancy research that only the Church of the Light can provide and deciding to learn more about their party, Simon approaches Euphemia and High Confessor Mastemo with an offer they cannot refuse. Now the realm's newest knight Templar, Simon moves to their Lighthouse in the Valendre region, where dark truths hide buried in holy sepulchers...
Contains: Insight into the Church Party, Norbelle, new mentor & allies, info on Noble Crestones, the Zodiac Fiends and time-travel mechanics.
Length: Medium (months to a year depending on events).
4) Academy Days: disgusted with what he had to do during the last reign and hoping to learn more about the empire's complex web of alliances, Simon decides to spend reign getting to know people better... and perhaps finally graduate from the Academy. Joining the Academy alongside many of his siblings, Simon quickly discovers that student life in a collapsing empire is not as restful as it may seem...
Contains: Magnos family bonding (yes, really), slice of life, character development for the cast, some insight into the elf conspiracy, bounty hunts.
Length: Medium (months to a year depending on events).

I think the Academy arc could be interesting, though I do think the Floating Island would be more restful. Perhaps the Academy arc could be a shorter rest, comparatively, as the Floating Island seems like the place where Simon is most likely to die of old age.

I hope Elf and Jester routes aren't mutually exclusive considering that both seem to deal with the conspiracy and dad's killer. Because both sound quite fun. The Academy seems quite boring, if he wants rest then Floating Island with birdie and slave elf sound more relaxing and wholesome. Also I think the Elf route should focus on Agnes's recovery, he can as well be honest to his elf allies, telling Elaine that he's very sorry for the slave and hopes to find a way to free her. Which is true and can win their trust. Her cure from slavinitus can be a nice side objective for this Reign.

I'm afraid Patreon is quite limited on that front XD

We should have rank choice voting. It’s superior to this four way fight where I want all four options
Niloc
voted for academy days just so we can move from Anna to best girl, but it seems that's happened. Kinda sad though as an early best girl likely means she's not the main girl...

When we do eventually get Jester, just imagine he gets found out because he tells ThalASS that he’s proud of him. Or hell, says thank you to him. Would be hilarious.
Theo Gray
I agree with many others here that, while I didn’t vote for it this time, seeing the Jester King arc when Simon is closer in level to his siblings would be very rewarding.
ENTROPY_BOT
Once again, jester is my favorite option but day, but it will be so so much more rewarding to hold off just a little bit longer. Get some better Intel, get a better grasp of the plots in motion when assuming the throne, have enough strength to at least put the weaker players in their place should the need arise... I'm not expecting Simon to hold together his father's empire any time soon, but for a proper show he needs a better script than just winging it. Infiltrating the elves and the church party seem most prudent towards achieving that goal (plus astronomy/time research seem extremely valuable long-term) so I'd say either of those for now.
Charlie
I'm thinking the same. Elf infiltration seems fun and inevitable, but jester king seems time limited and a good palate cleanser after dour mood of the current arc.

Emotionally Simon really needs a break after this one. I'd like to eventually see a Realm where he allies with the Oracle & Co. to try to better the world. Not sure how realistic that ist

Church one sounds best to me
Matthew Escobar
I know its not an option, but I would love to see, simon do all of these things eventually, they just all sound so fun! I know i usually say this of all your stories, but I truly hope Hundred Reigns becomes your longest series, its just so much fun and I can feel how much you love writing this one.
Matthew Wilmsmeyer
Learning about time-travel mechanics makes Church of the Stars highest priority for me, regardless of how much I want to see Magnos family bonding.
Skundi
Simon needa a break after this loop
Xeophyn
I think the other overlords were strong before they got the class. Both of them killed the previous user after all. Simon's case is confusing because he was normal/weak before getting the class and claims to not have killed the previous overlord. So while the previous overlords have a good explanation for their immediate strength and levels, he doesn't.

Thoughts on the routes for those who are interested. Jester king- it's just too early for this one guys he's not high enough level to back it up yet and it will be so much more productive And fun to watch if he knows all the cards the elves, the church party, and the war party are holding. Frankly I view this as the best route to save for when Simon's ready to test himself and tuck with everybody at the same time. Elf conspiracy- this needs to happen at some point and is decent as a pallet cleanser. It seems less immediately useful then the others though I am deeply interested in what we will learn. Church of the stars- this one has the highest potential payoff in my eyes though it's difficult for me to evaluate without seeing how things play out with the muse. It does have the added benefit of letting us interact with the faction we know the least about which is a huge plus as well. Academy days - probably the best answer for Simon's mental state and a nice change of pace from the blood and violence though I'm sure we will get plenty even still along with a steady if slow stream of exp.

I think the Jester would be amazing, but I feel like we aren't quite there yet, mentality or level-wise that is. Infiltrating the elves seems like the logical next step. After this one, maybe the Jester.
Integral
I think it would be smart for him to uncover the elven plot before impersonating his father, and I think the impersonation reign is such a fun idea that I would def want to see it. Also it's irrelevant but... Why is everybody assuming the Overlord would be weak? The world always experienced the overlords as strong from the start, as they don't know about the loop. Why would MC be the exception?
Silence the Lamb
This is where I am at. I feel like he would want a break and returning to school would be that except the presence of his lovers might be a good reason he would avoid it. It also doesnt fit the momentum we have built up. We arent ready to return to dragon espionage. The Jester doesnt feel right and he doesnt seem to be in a place to take that step or make good use of it. I feel like we could justify the elven through the constant arrows pointing at them a as a murder suspect as well as Simon trying to figure out how to remove the invasion as a possibility or how to best use it as it seems impossible to avoid.

Jester king is hard because on the one hand, it’s a waste of a reign unless Simon *really* needs the information now. There’s a good chance he absorbs a perk from the Paladin and hits mid level 40s this reign. On the other hand, if he keeps leveling up, he won’t be so weak as to be a “Jester” King anymore. It seems like Voidy really wants to write that reign, and I’m afraid a Simon in the 60+ level region might disqualify the Jester portion of it. So I’m voting for it now.
alejandrox
Your faith warms my heart, brother.
alejandrox
Do you have the necessary skills to be a member of Euphemia's cult!!!!!! Have you thought about joining us?
alejandrox
You're simply denying the truth and the inevitable: Simon x Euphemia is real and will come true. Go away with your dead elf Frea or your evil dragon, depending on what you're into XD
alejandrox
Do you have the necessary skills to be a member of Euphemia's cult!!!! Have you thought about joining us?
alejandrox
difficult.... it's difficult... O.O T.T
MasterofNova
Naw, need more knowledge and power to make it worth while. I'd prefer if he was at least level 60 (matching the weakest member of his family). Although that does seem like it'd take some time to reach so I'd be content with him at least unravelling the elf conspiracy so he can more effectively dismantle it in the Jester reign.
FuriousDee
Given how much he is hating his current reign I doubt he will want to consider it
FuriousDee
Given the apocalypse is coming I doubt he can do that. Besides what is the value of skipping to the last reign if he just wants to live in the middle of nowhere. Also it would mean abandoning everyone he considers a friend.
Taylor
I propose Simon rapid fire suicide down to his last reign, fuck off to the middle of nowhere and live a happy quiet life in a cabin away from demons and family. :). In lieu of that I will settle for elves I guess!!!
Bliss
Honestly i hope we get all of them. Personally I'd quite like a proper academy arc. But it seems like i've been outvoted.
granndfunk
Bah, I was hoping for a knee-jerk reaction of trying a run with Alphonse (now that he can hide his Dark affinity)
gostsamo
Surprisingly, I'd vote for the church. Looks as a natural continuation of the driad experiment.
Agent Talon
Right now it doesn’t feel like there’s a strong enough justification for Simon to do the elven conspiracy, but that could change depending on how the reign ends. It makes sense from a meta perspective where we know what he gets from doing it from a character perspective it feels like he should want to take a break after this.
Dao Seven
Looks like we're missing the Jester King again. Too bad.
Samven
At this point, I don't think it makes sense for him to do the Jester King without learning about who his father's killer is first. Once he understands all the moving parts of the palace intrigue he will be able to pull off some legendary trolling. I could see him acting as a triple agent for the elves as Simon while impersonating his father.
FuriousDee
I think the academy fits more with his mental state this reign
FuriousDee
I don’t think elf or church would be relaxing they would put him at odds with most of his friends again
FuriousDee
That’s where Anna and Tiella are and he can take Belzemine and Leonard with him. It is the best location for spending time with the friends he feels guilty for failing this time
Publius Decius Mus
I like the idea of Simon dedicating a reign to psychological recovery, but why in the Academy? He doesn't exactly have good memories of the place. If he really wants to chill, I think he would go to Eole's flying continent. That said, my vote is obviously where we get the most chance to meet Frea again, which is the elven conspiracy. Go Frea!
Fortniter
Magnos family bonding? You mean he’s going to make Thalas his son 😮
Joseph
Four and three are my options that I believe fit into where the arc is ending. It doesn’t make sense for him to throw himself right into the lions den after. I also hope these aren’t fixed one loop things. It’s not as exciting if we know he is not going to die until the poll is somewhat achieved.
Bing Lun
Pleaseeeee Vote Jester King. It'll be hilarious+ it's short, so we can get to elf conspiracy right after too 🙏🙏
Renn
Plus, who knows how many more times it will be a choice. All the others will almost certainly be there after the short loop whereas jester king has already been there a half a dozen times and liable to disappear at any moment
Navarog
Church of the light would be interesting. But i will go with elven conspiracy. Mostly against Step mother ship. (You know im talking about you, you sick bastard)
joe denis
Jester king would be good for a test on how he will do when he take position
CentaureHeart
Simon needs a break, academy time or elf or church but nothing too crazy ! Also impersonating his father would be terrible for him right now.
Lizy Flore
The jester king is my personal fav, the elf conspiracy is prob the smartest, the church one is the smartest long term, the last one makes the most sense character wise. Urgh why does it have to be so difficult ? 😭 (still voted for jester king though, I want dark humorous situations after the few traumatising chapters we just got. Also, I really, really, really want my theory on balzam’s killer confirmed)
Myrdin
I am the most interested in the Church of Stars, due to the lore about the constellations and the visionary talents. However, after this reign in which Simon feels awful with himself, I feel that he needs a little break, so some slice of life and family time would be best suited for the moment. Plus, he could finally kill Casval and Vuivre. And maybe kill Thalas again, as that will always be welcome.
Critical Bum
Elf conspiacy could unviel things that would make jester king funnier. But I just want to see him mess with people and cause chaos.
MaliMi
Jester King. After killing his former comrades, Simon deserves a stress relief.
Andy65pr
As much as I like the idea of the mask of the Jester King, I don't think it'd be in Character for Simon to take up another role as a villain after everything he has gone through during this reign. The boy is basically traumatized/extremely guilt-ridden right now after having to kill his own retainer and a former lover. Idk it'd feel weird to see him go for another evil reign immediately after this one. Personally I'd like to see either the Elf Conspiracy next since it's about time he untangled that whole web.
Antony444
Vote of the Jester King. Tolerate no substitute to this glorious madness (plus Simon can repurpose Frightwall now to support his pranks, isn't it grand?)
Armo
I have come back to it and decided Academy Days. It’s the best option narratively, to let Simon think about what he’s done and what he wants to do next. If not, Elf conspiracy is another semi-good route to let him be less guilty.
George R
I am interested in 1 3 4 well honestly all of them
Lucy Severine
Personally, I think we should see Crazy Simon. It just feels like the right time for that, mentally: he's done the whole running away thing, now he needs to put himself right at the centre.
Pradian
I am really tempted for church...
Critical Bum
Every recent reign has been an entire arc. Its basically how long it takes him to die again.
Amit Levy
It doesn't really make sense before figuring out the elves
Lucy Severine
I feel like both 1 and 3 would be severely against where his head is rn. Spoilers for the latest arc below: He's coming out of this reign feeling constrained by the path he committed to, and guilty for his resultant actions and for hurting the people he cared about. I don't think he'd want to go for another "undercover" mission so soon that commits him to a path and risks his loved ones. He's especially guilty about having let the civil war rage, and about killing people he personally liked. I think either we see Crazy Simon, who is like "I'm gonna hold this empire together with my own blood sweat and tears" with option 2, or he goes for 4 as a way of seeking a refuge and an 'apology' to the friends he hurt.
rapatel01
Is length the amount of time for the reign or the amount of time until the arc is completed?
Critical Bum
Mask of the jester king sounds hilarious and great for levels.
Bruno Salque
So many things are interesting... But I hope for a long reign ... Which would lead to a bloody one ... And I hope this one can continue after the ritual, because... Why not ..?
Federico Bellavista
Mask of the Jester King is pure fun and I'm all for it. Besides, a short reign right after a long one sounds good to me. Ps. 'Family bonding'... Voidy, he is gonna fuck some of 'em, isn't he?
Touch
So it’s either 1, 3 or 4. We could probably do 1 after 3 and 4 even though it’s more interesting option for me. 1 unlock new route
Armo
Damn, this is not an easy poll. I’ll have to come back to this one.
Daniel Everest
I think mask of the Jester King has waited long enough
